Good grief, I love Sarah Adams!
I loved the Cheat Sheet so much, and while this one did come out quite a bit after, it certainly didn’t disappoint and thrust me into that universe once again, and almost seamlessly. This was such a cute second chance romance, and I was seriously desperate for these two to get their HEA.
I will say that the little bit of miscommunication that exists in the story did make me want to shake both MCs, but generally the story was full of sweet, sappy, swoony goodness.
I was given an ARC by NetGalley and Random House Publishing. All opinions are my own.
Sarah Adams is the queen of writing a quirky character without writing an annoying character. I've read a lot of books where the FMC is written to be quirky, but all I wanted to do was punch her in the throat. Not with Sarah Adams books. The quirky tendencies just endear the character to me.
The Rule Book was no different. This was a second chance romance full of humor, emotions, some depth, and a first for her, some spice!! I loved it from beginning to end. This is part of an interconnected series, but I haven't read The Cheat Sheet, and I didn't feel like I was missing anything.
A solid read from Sarah Adams. Great pacing and great character voice. Enjoyable and light but with slight depth, everything you like for a quick read.
Thank you Random House/Ballentine and Netgalley for sharing this ARC with me.
The Rule Book is a quick and fun read about college exes who are forced to work together, and decide to have a little fun/revenge with each other. If you enjoy sports (Football) rom-coms, you will probably enjoy this book.
This was my first Sarah Adams but it won’t be the last! I plan to now read everything from her! This book was so amazing! I loved every single page! The characters, the story line, the vibes! I know need an all the football romances as well! Derek and Nora a perfect match! I enjoyed Nora as a person and her work dynamic. Derek is her client but sparks fly between them! Especially when they wake up married in Vegas! They decided to stay that way for a short time because it’s good for PR. I really enjoyed the journey for them to fall. I can’t wait for the next book!
This book had the makings of a great romance. I was excited by the fact that Nora had to fight her way up being a woman in the area of sports agent. But, I felt that something was just a little off for me. At first I thought the dynamic between the two was fine but then it started to feel forced. Derek's character I didn't mind but Nora really started to wear thin.
This one just wasn't an overall hit for me.
This was such a fun book to read on my flight. Loved Sarah’s witty sense of humor. This is honestly such a cute book.
The Rule Book by Sarah Adam’s had 20 rules and almost as many tropes; woman in a man’s profession, second chance romance, enemies to lovers, fake marriage, forced proximity with one bed. The romance the first half of the story was wishy washy and then full blown Hallmark-esque soul mates. Both Derek and Norah’s feelings whiplashed between denial and want and the oscillation left me feeling dizzy with ambivalence.
One thing about me? If there’s a second chance sports romance to be read, 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘵
+ 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴?? I’m dialed in
Watching nora and derek go from estranged exes to unwilling partners to each other's best friend was a delight and seeing cameos from the rest of the team / characters from the cheat sheet was a fun addition
Revenge plot turned fake marriage is not a mix of tropes that I anticipated and in truth could’ve done with one (or two) less but I still found myself enjoying watching the story unfold. Overall if you want a quick, cute, and quirky romance that will have you sleeping with a smile then 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬 is for you

4.5 stars. It took me a second to get into it. At first, I found the dynamic between the mmc and fmc to be a bit off-putting. I didn't love it as much as Practice Makes Perfect, but it was pretty dang close. It's such a witty, funny book, and I had a big dumb grin on my face the whole time.
I think that Sarah Adams must just not be the author for me. I could not deal with the writing style (which was my biggest issue with the first in this duology, too. Everyone loves her so I keep trying, but I always end up frustrated lol
I love Sarah Adams' writing and will absolutely continue to read her books but this one sadly didn't quite hit the mark for me. By the end, Nora and Derick had me convinced but it took a whiiiiile to get there. With that said, I'm very excited for her next release and can't wait to get my hands on it!
Well, immediately after I finished The Cheat Sheet, I dove right into The Rule Book. It was just as good and on multiple occasions had me laughing out loud. Plus being 2nd in a series, I loved getting to revisit Bree and Nathan on occasion. Nora and Derek were just as entertaining. And as a bonus, neither of these books had a 3rd act breakup! So if you aren’t into that definitely give these a try!

A+ once again for Sarah Adams. Fun. Witty. Enaging. Had the most enjoyable time reading “The Rule Book”. Would recommend if you want to laugh and smile your whole way through!
I loved the When in Rome books I've read, especially Practice Makes Perfect, so I was really excited to get an early copy of The Rule Book.
Nora is a sports agent who lands one of the biggest football players in the country, who just happens to also be her ex-boyfriend. In order to work peacefully together, they decide to devise a rule book -- but quickly find themselves breaking all the rules.
I enjoyed Nora's character and could understand where she was coming from with her actions and thoughts toward Derek. I didn't love his character as much, some of the practical jokes at the beginning just felt pretty mean and overall both of them had a lot of moments of immaturity.
The tension between them builds well and I found myself invested in finding out how their story would end.
This is a companion novel to The Cheat Sheet and definitely does contain spoilers to that book -- so if you care about that, I would read The Cheat Sheet first. It was nice to see the characters from The Cheat Sheet make an appearance in this one.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!
One of my FAVORITE books of the year so far!
I'm obsessed with this one! I loved every single second and Sarah Adams absolutely knocked it out of the park!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Dell for this e-ARC of "The Rule Book" by Sarah Adams, out now!
I have really enjoyed everything I have read by Sarah Adams so I was very excited to read this! I loved the character of Nora and how she was a strong woman, especially in a field dominated by men. I'm a sucker for a second chance romance too! If you've enjoyed Sarah's other books I would defintely put this on your TBR!
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!
What a good book!!! Such a good story and great writing style. This was my first by this author and will not be my last!
Thank you to NetGalley & Random House Publishing Group for this e-ARC.
From beginning to end, The Rule Book was enjoyable and interesting. I fell in love with these characters and their romance. This book was a quick and easy read. I love the author's writing style. I like how Derek and Nora opened up to one other.
This review pains me because I loooooooove Sarah Adams, but The Rule Book just was not for me. I found Nora immature and cringey at times. As a woman who works in a male-dominated field, I would love to be able to progress the way Nora does in her field but sexism makes it very difficult. I understand that books are often an escape, but it ended up just taking me out of the story too much. All this being said, I can't wait for Sarah Adams' next book! I am a huge fan and will definitely be reading.
