This book is set in Ireland and voiced by Irish actors, which made it tones more believable. I have this weird quirk where if I’m around people with an accent or watch shows/movie/audiobooks that have people with accents in them then the voice in my head starts talking with an accent. So my thoughts for the past week has featured a very thick (tick) Irish accent. Don’t worry, I’m awful at them in real life so I’d never do them out loud. It has kept me entertained though.
Anyway, enough about that and onto the book. It was quite cute and cosy in the way that books set in a snowy winter often are. As someone who experiences Christmas in sweltering heat rather than snow, it’s nice to pretend for a little while.
There was lots of family drama and it was heartwarming to see them able to tackle the holidays with someone on their team, giving them both support and encouragement. Just having someone there can be the best thing sometimes.
Oh and the best character in the whole book was Zoe and I am devastated that there wasn’t more of her. She’s getting her own book, right??
So yeah, definitely get this on audiobook if only for the accents. 😊
Thanks to #NetGallery and the publisher. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was perfection but let me tell you the audiobook!!!??!!! INCREDIBLE!!! The Irish narrators were amazing and so freaking funny. Sweet goodness I could stop laughing. Both of their families and siblings added so much to the book. I was swooning and grinning from ear to ear!
I loved a fake dating trope almost as much as I love Christmas so this was such a good read for me. Megan and Christian knew each other in high school and he saw her running away from her own wedding. Christian was considered a bad boy back in high school more so for the pranks that he would pull. He feels like he is a disappointment to his family so he is scared to go home alone for the holidays...enter Megan. They decided to fake date to keep their families off their back.
I loved this story, especially after reading Holiday Romance last year! Their families were great and the snowed in portion of the book was my favorite. I love how they took care of each other through their hard times.
This was a fun Christmas story! I love the fake dating troupe so much, and when you add a holiday twist and a snow storm I am HOOKED!
I received an advance audio copy. All thoughts are my own.
When Megan goes to the pub to meet up with a date, she never expects to see Christian, a guy she went to highschool with. The last time she saw Christian she was running away from her own wedding. Megan is heading home for Christmas for the first time since that disastrous wedding and she is not sure how she is going to cope. But maybe Christian can help.
Christian was known as the bad boy at high school in small town Ireland. Well, he did some pretty funny stunt but nothing serious. Known as the family failure, even though he has a ridiculously good job and plenty of money. He is the last of his siblings to have a serious relationship and he cannot go home for Christmas alone, again, this year. But maybe Megan can help?
This was a wonderful audiobook to listen to. Full of funny banter, angst and spice. The narrators are great, however, Colm Gleeson could read a shopping list and it would sound hot! I love how the author wrote about Megan's history with half of the small town and how ostracised she was. Christian was also a delight. The banter, jokes and fun with the side characters made this book an all around great Christmas romance. This is one of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
Big thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture Audio and Catherine Walsh for this early release audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
I loved reading Holiday Romance last year and this had some of the same characters, Molly & Andrew, however we are focused this time on Megan & Christian. I listened to Snowed In and found the Irish accents delightful on audio and added to the charm. It is a light holiday romance with several of the tropes; fake dating, forced proximity feathered in with family issues and past healing. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture audio for an advance audio copy in exchange for my honest opinion. Snowed In is now available.
This was such a fun Christmas romance! I loved our main characters Megan and Christian who agree to work together for a fake romance to fool their families at Christmas. I thought this was a really fun Christmas themed fake dating romance, with some really fun side characters. I loved that Megan and Christian had shared history from their school days, and enjoyed getting to know their characters more in depth, better understanding why they made certain decisions throughout their lives. Megan was such a fun, and easy to love character, and Christian's family added a great dynamic to the book.
The accents in the audiobook were so much fun to listen to, and the narrators overall did an excellent job. I thought this book was a great length, and the spice was well placed and not over done.
If you are looking for a fake dating, small town romance, that involves misguided family members, and lots of cute romance this Christmas I would definitely recommend checking this book out!
I rated this 4/5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley for this wonderful audiobook.

After the first chapter of this book I thought this was going to be a huge hit but I’ll be honest, it took me a while to get into this one after that initial chapter. It only started to pick back up later in the book when the characters actually get “snowed in”. I did love the last quarter of this book and was in love with the characters by the end. The narration of the audiobook was good but I think I might have enjoyed it more on print.
Thank you to the publisher and @netgalley for providing a free advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Snowed In, by Catherine Walsh, is a delightfully funny story about what happens when Megan O’Sullivan and Christian Fitzpatrick, both from the same small town, run into one another in Dublin and end up concocting a plan to be each other’s new pretend loves to get family members off their backs when they travel home for the holidays. What a grand adventure they were entering into, destination unknown.
This is such a good story told with heart and so much humor. I very much enjoyed this book and definitely do recommend it!
I had such a fun time reading this! The chemistry between the main characters is great from the start and the banter is delightful! I loved Megan’s character growth and Christian is everything I want in a book boyfriend. It’s cheesy and sweet in all the right spots and I already have my fingers crossed that Catherine Walsh has plans to tell us another story about this crew of friends and family next year!
I had the chance to listen to an alc of this and the narrators were a perfect fit. They were both so charming and nailed the emotions of the story to truly bring it to life.
Read if you love:
- fake dating
- a sprinkling of small town drama
- nosey families at the holidays
- an Irish winter setting
- no third act breakup
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture audio for the ALC
Rating: Loved it
Genre: Adult Romance
Romantic content: 2-2.5 open door scenes (these scenes were more detailed than I needed or typically share about but they were still sweet)
Other content: controlling relationship (past)
*I received a copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity*
I'm not sure if I could have imagined a more perfect Christmas romance book to curl up with! It's full of all the best tropes-- fake dating, acquaintances to lovers, he falls first, snowed in (ha-ha)-- and written with such a deft hand it never felt overplayed.
SNOWED IN is the perfect book to enjoy this winter season!!
This SLOW burn fake dating romance is another great Christmas read! Megan has finally found herself and dreading going home. The last time she was home, she ran away from the alter. Christian is fed up with being alone for the holidays. Megan and Christian bump into each other in Dublin right before they are both expected to go back to the same small town.
I fell in love with these characters and this whole story! Thank you Netgalley for the amazing audio version for an honest review!
What a holiday romance vibe this was. Megan and Christian were brilliant, their chemistry was just next level. Christian was an incredible MMC who had Megan’s back against everyone she ever used to be close with in her home town. 4 years ago she left her groom to be (Isaac) at the altar and still hasn’t returned home since.
Christian is from the same small home town in Ireland and after chance encounter and a lot of persuasion Megan agrees to be his fake date for the holidays. Their banter is brilliant and their communication was just everything it needed to be.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC Audiobook of this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the narration and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good Christmas romance listen/read.
Okay I'm definitely not ready for snow just yet but I am here for all the holiday reads! Megan and Christian are from the same village but both dread going home for the holidays for different reasons. When they bump into each other in a pub, they make a pact to fake date through the holiday season to get them through their family visits.
I was excited for this after loving Holiday Romance by Walsh last year, and it did not disappoint. It's loaded with witty banter and great chemistry, and the fake dating trope was well done. Christian was a great male lead, and I loved that he was both playful with and protective of Megan.
If you're looking for a charming romcom to get you in the holiday spirit, I recommend picking this one up! I especially enjoyed the audiobook with dual narrators and swoony Irish accents.
Thanks NetGalley for the advance copy.

Another winning holiday romance by Catherine Walsh.
I adored this story. Sometimes fake relationship romances are hit and miss for me but this one definitely worked. I liked both of these characters and the relationship that slowly developed between them. They initially decided to join into this fake dating relationship as a convenient way to divert attention but as time progressed, they started to share more about their history with one another and it helped them to understand the other person and what made them so sensitive to certain things. It was quite sweet.
Likewise, not only did I enjoy Megan and Christian's relationship, I also really love the family connections and how they care about each other. Such a touching storyline. And even though this is a standalone book, it is in the same "world" as Miss Walsh's Holiday Romance book and shares some characters. I would love to see some more books from "that world" sharing the romantic futures for the other siblings.
I listened to the audiobook and the narration was quite enjoyable. It really made it easier for me to immerse myself in the storyline and enjoy the accents from the area more and so forth.
Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy of this audiobook. I chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
This book was absolutely adorable! The fake dating turned real dating was perfect for these two. I loved the progression for Megan and Christian and felt that their relationship was written so authentically. I loved the first book in this world and was happy to see more of Andrew and Molly (especially the ending - SO cute!!).
I absolutely loved this one! It was the perfect book to get me into the holiday season. Great characters. Good conflict. Fake date trope. Great chemistry. Wonderful setting. This book was so fun and heartwarming. This was my first Catherine Walsh book and it for sure won’t be my last. I had the privilege of reading and listening to this book. Listening completely brought this book to life. I thought the narrators did a great job. Huge thanks to Netgalley and the audiobook publisher for allowing me to listen and review this book.
An absolute 5/5 for the narrative performance by Roisin Rankin & Colm Gleeson! Both narrators provide an excellent narration of characters and story.
For this book by Catherine Walsh, I read the book before listening to the audio. I enjoyed the book so much that I was just as hyped to listen to the book. The narration performance is always a different experience for each book. Personally, I find my favorite narrators for my audiobooks by both reading & listening to a book. When I read there is the voice I formulate in my head built from the author however only the right narrator or narrators can make what you imagined into reality.
In terms of Rankin & Gleeson their narration performances are pretty flawless. Each narrator performs with a natural ease and flow as they bring the characters to life for the listener. I felt like both narrators give voice to the characters so well that they personally know the characters. When characters seamlessly fall into the life of the listener then the narrators have achieved an exceptional level of narration and both Rankin & Gleeson convey this from the first page until the last page of the book.
I look forward to listening to both these narrators whether individually or paired together again. Hopefully, they will both continue narrating books by Catherine Walsh. In my opinion, Rankin & Gleeson make this
audiobook an absolutely great listen!!
Cute story but not much substance. Enjoyed the narration but wouldn’t hurry to spend much time looking for more.
Megan is dreading going home for the holidays. She’s the village pariah, the she-devil who left local golden boy Isaac at the altar four years ago and ran away to the big city.

But when she literally bumps into Christian, the local bad boy from her home town, in a Dublin pub they hatch a plan to be the best fake dates for each other during the holiday season. Rules are drawn up, contracts are signed on wine-stained napkins, and chaos and hilarity ensue as they navigate family gatherings, old friends, old flames, and old feelings. 🍷✨
Megan and Christian both carry their own baggage, and their journey is heartwarming. While it felt a bit slow compared to the fast-paced novella I literally just read, it's still cute and totally made me smile throughout.
Christian is an absolute delight, and you'll fall for him just like Megan did. The story balances humor, snark, playfulness, and emotion, with a touch of smexiness. This romantic comedy had me completely smitten!🥰
