He was the last person she saw before running away in her wedding dress. Five years later Megan literly runs into Christian in a pub in Dublin. Can they help each other come back into town for Christmas faking a relationship to face their families? A sweet, heartwarming love story with Christmas magi. The audiobook with Colm Gleason and Roisin Rankin is amazing

It was ok. Just like all the other christmas books where they fake a relationship and then get stuck in a snow storm. The female narrator's voice really grinded on my nerves. Perhaps, I would have enjoyed it more if that was the not the case.

Megan and Christian have known one another since their high school days, but they lost touch as they each left their small village and made their way in the world. Years later, they run into one another again and lament the impending holiday trip home where their families will want to know why they're still single. So they opt to be each other's plus-ones to make the holidays more enjoyable for everyone involved.

It doesn't take much of a stretch of the imagination to figure out what happens next, but the road to getting there isn't all fun and reindeer games.

Megan hasn't been home since she ran away on her wedding day. While everyone assumes she got cold feet, there's a more sinister reason she left that she's never shared with anyone. With Christian's help, she comes to terms with her past, her family, and her place in the little town they grew up in.

I really enjoyed this story and Christian's reliable support for Megan.

Thank you to Catherine Walsh, Bookouture Audio, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

Review for 'Snowed In' by Catherine Walsh.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Catherine Walsh, Bookouture publishers, Bookouture Audio and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 1st November 2023.

This is the fifth book I have read by this author. I have previously read her debut novel 'One Night Only', The Rebound' 'The Matchmaker' and 'The Holiday Romance' and would highly recommend them all!! It is also the second book in the 'Catherine Walsh Christmas Romcoms' series but can be read as a standalone. 'The Holiday Romance' is the first book in this series which I have read and would highly recommend!!

This novel consists of a prologue, 32 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

'Snowed In' discusses some topics that may upset some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Catherine discusses/includes controlling relationships.

LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOOOVVVEEE , LOVED IT!!! ANOTHER HUGE WELL DONE CATHERINE ON YET ANOTHER ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC BOOK ♥!!!

This is a fantastically written book that has vivid descriptions which will make you feel that you are breathing the Irish air, feeling the festivities and falling in love !! The storyline itself is romantically charged and filled with love, friendship, Christmas, community, family, comedy, romance, arguments, emotional angst, snow, fun and absolutely everything you could want in an absolutely stunning rom com!!! It made me laugh, cry, scream, shout, angry and jump for joy!! Throughout the pages of this stunning book there are tears, happiness, disasters, laughter, secrets, romance, friendship and Sparks flying everywhere!! Catherine's evocative writing skills brings the story life and one minute tour chilling at home with the book in your hand and the next you've been sucked straight into Ireland and snowed in a stunning log cabin. The atmosphere was gorgeous and I was completely swept away!! This book had me in stitches on several occasions and at other times left me sitting there going awww and getting some very strange looks!! “I’ve been searching for something my whole life and nothing’s ever clicked. And I think it’s because I was looking for you. I’m falling in love with you. I’m falling hard and fast and I don’t want to stop."

Rating: 4.5/5

- Childhood friends to strangers to friends to lovers
- Fake dating for the holidays
- Set in small-town Ireland
- Snowed in
- No breakup
- Dual POV

Snowed In starts with Megan seeing her old school friend, Christian outside her wedding as she’s attempting to escape. Five years later, they serendipitously bump into each other (literally) at a Dublin pub.

Christian walks her home and when he realises they’ll both be heading back to their village over the holidays extremely single, he suggests a fake dating arrangement. Megan thinks he’s crazy but it doesn’t take long for him to convince her.

This book is brimming with sarcastic banter, which is 100% my cup of tea. I couldn't get enough of it. Even when he's trying to seduce her they can't help being witty with each other. Case in point: "You're wet." "We're in the water." "My mistake, I'll work harder."

I loved how Christian seemed to anticipate Megan’s needs without her saying anything. In the beginning, he was there for her as a friend, until they slowly became more. Besides their banter, their honest communication was my other favourite thing. All it took was Christian saying "No more pretending" and no breakup followed 👏🏻.

Add in great character development, fun family moments and some delicious snowed-in forced proximity and you have another winner from Catherine. The audiobook is also fantastic thanks to those Irish accents! I could listen to them all day!

I know I was a little grumpy about holiday books a while back but it was just a phase. I have read a few now and while not full out in Christmas mode, I am definitely ready for some Christmas romcoms.

This one hit the spot. It did take me a moment to warm up and love the main characters (could be me and that grumpy thing I mentioned), but I did and ended up loving this one. Megan as a run away bride and Christian as her protector. I didn’t know how much I liked the fake dating trope until last year, but I love it when it is done well and it is here.

There is some witty banter and this is my third book close together with an isolated cabin in the woods, but the use is quite different than in the other thrillers I read. There are a couple of side stories about a proposal and resolving Megan’s runaway bride slights.

While there are a couple of slightly spicy scenes, but this could really be a Hallmark movie. (but they kiss before the last page)

If you need a little romance, a laugh and some holiday spirit, you need this book!

Megan doesn’t really want to go home for the holidays, but her brother is visiting for the first time in a while. Christian doesn’t want to go home either. But when they run into each other at a pub after not seeing each other for years, an idea starts to form. Maybe if they go home together, pretending to be a couple, then the holidays can be bearable after all.

I’ve read a few books by Catherine Walsh now. I gave last year’s Holiday Romance 4.5 stars, but funnily enough I didn’t even remember that the same characters were in this book. Oops. It’s not required to read the first book, as the two relationships are separate. But going back and reading my review of Holiday Romance, I don’t think I enjoyed this one quite as much, but it was still a really cute romance. I love a fake dating trope, and I really liked that they didn’t deny when feelings started to form, they just adjusted and went with the flow. There was some decent spice, and some funny banter that kept me rooting for Megan and Christian throughout.

It did take me a little while to adjust to the accents of the narrators, so it was slow to start. But once I got used to them I found the audiobook to be enjoyable.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of this book!

Snowed In was the perfect entry point to my season of holiday reads/listens. This was charming, sweet, cute, just the right amount of strife and laughs.
Overall such a lovely and enjoyable holiday read.

If you’re looking for a great holiday read, look no further. Snowed In by Catherine Walsh is a heartwarming, steamy, holiday romance.
Megan (once a runaway bride) bumps into Christian, an old acquaintance. They both are dreading going home for the holiday, for different reasons. So they decide to fake date to make the trip easier.
A definite recommendation for the holidays.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Love love loved!! A fantastic feel good holiday read with fake dating and no third act breakup! Really enjoyed the audiobook and the dual POV narration. Both narrators did a great job and I’m the Irish accents really helped bring this book to life. Definitely recommend listening to this one.

All the stars!!!
Fake dating and Irish accents narrating the audio.
I'm pretty sure that would have earned 5 stars right there.
Then Walsh had to go and create an adorable, emotional and super cute story with fabulous banter.
Well done!
I highly suggest getting yourself a copy, audio if you can; Roisin Rankin & Colm Gleeson crush this narration!
Much love to NetGalley & Bookouture Audio for my ALC.

Snowed in left me with mixed feelings. While I somewhat enjoyed the central premise of fake dating, there were moments when the story felt quite boring. The numerous side stories often detracted from the magic of the main plot. Additionally, many of the side characters failed to capture my interest. However, the two main love interests had undeniable chemistry, which added depth and charm to the book. Overall,
The story had its moments, but it didn't fully capture my attention due to its slow pacing and random subplots.

As for the audiobook, I enjoyed both narrators and think they did a fantastic job.

Snowed In tells the story of Megan and Christian. They are from the same village and last saw each other a few years ago when Megan was a runaway bride. Both single and kinda-sorta dreading going home for the holidays because of it, they decide to show up in big ways for each other with a fake dating contract.

This was a fun holiday read with plenty of tropes. I enjoyed living vicariously through a cozy Irish Christmas, and I liked the way the characters supported each other. I loved this as a work of women's fiction but the romance left me wanting more. The narrators were great, especially because their accents were understandable at my usual increased listening speed.

Thank you to Bookouture Audio via NetGalley for gifting me with an ALC to review! I enjoyed it.

Love is in the air! Loved listening to this audiobook. I was hooked in the first chapter.

Set in Ireland, Megan and Christian decide to return home as fake dates for Christmas. As they fake their relationship for their families, they start to fall in love. Trapped in a cabin in the mountains after a snow storm, their attraction flourishes.

This story was perfect to kick off the holiday season with some romance. The author developed the relationship in each chapter of the book which peaked when they are snowed in together. Humor, banter, family dynamics and falling in love. I loved the narrators, Roisin Rankin, Colm Gleeson. Their accents drew me in and made me feel like we were in Ireland.

I would recommend this sweet book.

Thank you to the @Netgalley and @bookouture audio who provided the ARC. Put it on your TBR.

I thought this would be just another fake dating book where they end up together and in love. But it was so entertaining!

I enjoy Catherine’s writing and her characters. This was what made me automatically want to read this book. And it was a great idea.

About the story:

Megan ran away from her town, leaving everything behind, including her fiance, at the altar. While doing it, she bumped into Christian, who kept her secret.

Five years later, they are in a bar and accidentally bump into each other again. They start talking, and the night ends with Christian proposing to fake date each other while going home for Christmas.

Even knowing how this story ends, I enjoyed it and had a marvelous time reading it. I appreciated the characters, the plot, everything.

Besides the romance about to happen, we have their families, Megan’s ex-fiancé, Megan’s ex-friends, and a whole lot of drama. The book never has a dull moment.

Loving, inspiring, funny, and spicy are the adjectives I choose to represent this book.

The narration was good, although, in the beginning, some of the voices sounded slightly weird to me. With time, I got in sync with the audio and enjoyed the story. But, speaking of voices, I loved hearing a story with Irish characters!

If you feel like reading a book about Christmas and want to have a good time, give this one a try!

"Snowed In" by Catherine Walsh is a charming Christmas novel that skillfully balances romance and the complexities of spending the holiday season with family.

The story introduces us to Megan and Christian, both dealing with their own holiday-related struggles. They embark on a fake dating pact to navigate the festivities with their respective families. The setup offers a promising start, and the rules they establish add an element of fun to their interactions.

What sets this Christmas romance apart is its ability to depict the challenges of spending the holidays with family. The book portrays the intricacies of family dynamics, complete with the inevitable drama, and it resonates with readers who can relate to the complexities of such gatherings.

The romance aspect is particularly well-executed, featuring the ever-appealing fake dating trope. Megan and Christian's interactions are engaging and filled with moments that make your heart flutter. Their journey from pretending to be in love to something more genuine is heartwarming.

The novel excels in portraying the transformative power of family bonds. As the story unfolds, the way the characters' families come together is a testament to the importance of unity and understanding, even amidst the holiday chaos.

Overall, "Snowed In" is a cute and heartwarming Christmas novel that captures the essence of the holiday season while addressing the realities of spending time with family. The well-executed fake dating trope and the strong focus on family dynamics make it an enjoyable read.

I loved this audiobook. The characters were fun, relatable, and compatible. We have a runaway bride, and a wedding that never happened, a fake relationship for Christmas that has its rules written on a napkin, beautiful Irish scenery descriptions and accents on the audiobook, and a story that makes you experience a full range of emotions, from warm and fuzzy feelings, to anger and sadness, back to pure joy and it leaves you with a big smile on your face. I'd definitely recommend it for the fans of romances.

Christian and Megan met for the first time in front of the hotel in which she was preparing for her wedding that very day. She was the runaway bride and Christian was a random attendee whom aside from being amused at her predicament, let her make her getaway.

Five years later they met again, this time close to Christmas season. Both were single and dreaded the coming holidays and spending them as singles with family. Christian struck up a deal with her, for them to be each other's fake dates for the season and meet their families to take some of the pressure off.

I enjoyed the story but I will say that it was a bit too long for me. I get that bringing someone you've just started seeing to a family gathering would be much too soon, but they both had chemistry from the onset that the dating ruse seemed unnecessary.

Aside from that, Christian was the sweetest fake boyfriend, always making sure that Megan never doubted herself and her capabilities. I especially loved it when they were up at the cabin.

I switched between the audio and ebook and the narrators were awesome. Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 rounded up to 4

This is a wintery, runaway bride, small town, fake dating story with Hallmark vibes.

It was cute with likable characters.

There is a tiny bit of spice in this one.

I wouldn’t say it was swoon worthy or had a lot of chemistry amongst the characters though. I wanted more of that.

I wish there was more content about why she left her groom at the alter. I mean you get an answer, which wasn’t what I had expected but it doesn’t really take up much page space.

I liked that the families in the story were so close. It was really cute.

It’s a cute read and flowed nicely but I wanted to feel more of that chemistry between the main characters.

I love a series of books that follows different tropes for the fun of it (and by the way the reader is reminded to read the first book, I get the feeling it's absolutely an intentional thing). I read the first book and had completely forgotten everything about it before reading this one - ironic because I also picked this one up explicitly because I liked her other book- so I essentially read it as a stand alone and it was nice on its own. It does explain some parts more clearly if you read the first one but this pretend we're together romance is extra complicated by the small town they live in. Having been to Ireland, there are some things that I understand better knowing the places they talk about and how the travel is, how quickly weather does change, how comical it is that Dubliners call their Natural History Museum the Dead Zoo. I loved this book with the happy heart feeling of sitting down with an old friend to just hang out.
