This book deserves all of the hype it has been getting!!! It was so unpredictable! I read a lot of thrillers, and this one was so unpredictable and such a fun ride!

Phenomenal thriller! Nothing is as it appears in this fast paced, complex novel. This was my first book by this author, but I'm adding her to my auto buy list after reading this! I heard a lot of hype around this book, and let me tell you...it did not disappoint.

This was a gripping thriller where you aren't sure what to think and who to believe. The plot was well though out and crafted very carefully. It moves along at a fast pace, and the entire ride is full of suspense and WTF moments. This was such a twisty ride, full of deception, lies, revenge and scandal. The twists were multifaceted, but more importantly, they made sense and had my mouth on the floor.

There was great character development and I really got to know Tate. I found myself rooting for her the whole way. This book was written with such emotion. Such an amazing novel!

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for this ARC in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.

The woman on the ledge is a quick read for those looking for a well written thriller. The story follows Tate, who at the beginning of the book is talking down a woman from the edge of the high rise building Tate works at. The story is pretty layered and some chapters make you have to think twice about the timeline but overall I enjoyed it. I did not feel like there was some big twist as the perpetrator is told to the reader early on but I was still engaged with the story anyways. 4 stars for me. Thanks to NetGalley for the early arc!

Thirty-eight-year-old Londoner and out-of-work-actress Tate Kinsella is arrested for murder. The circumstances of her alleged crime are murky. Supposedly, Tate attended a party in an office building where she worked as a temp. She may have taken someone's security pass in order to gain admittance on another occasion. The police believe that she arranged to meet her victim, bludgeoned the woman over the head, and pushed her off a roof. Tate's case is not helped by fact that the story she relays to the detectives is full of holes. Her solicitor, Sarah Kellerman, senses that Tate is being less than candid. Why would Tate undermine her defense by making statements that are demonstrably false?

"The Woman on the Ledge," by Ruth Mancini, is a convoluted and talky tale with two narratives. One is Tate's initial recounting of events, and the other is a second scenario that is far different from the earlier one. Mancini's novel deals with a familiar theme— the tendency of certain depraved men to prey on vulnerable teenagers. This abuse can damage adolescent girls, many of whom are too ashamed to talk about what their predator did to them.

Unfortunately, Mancini's characters never come to life. Moreover, this thriller has minimal action, clichéd dialogue, and too much tedious exposition. Parents who read "The Woman on the Ledge" will be tempted to warn their daughters and granddaughters to speak up if someone seems inappropriately friendly in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable. This book raises a provocative question: If a person cannot be prosecuted successfully in court, is it justifiable to take matters into one's own hands?

Book Review 📚

🩷🩷🩷💞(3.5)

I did like the story concept but I do have mixed feelings about the book.
It did keep me interested until half way through. It got repetitive and It got hard to read until the end. I was going to rate it (4.0)hearts and I ended up narrowing it down to (3.5)hearts.

There are multi points of view in this book, if you’re into that.

This won’t be the last book that I read from this author.

I do recommend this book if you like psychological thrillers and suspense, you should give this book a try.

“The Women On The Ledge”

Is about a woman who falls to her death from a 25 story roof top terrace.

Was there someone watching her fall to her death?

The police officer said there was only one witness that came forward ,and now she is getting accused for her murder.

She made a statement telling the police officers that she only met the victim that jumped the night before at an office party, and she had nothing to do with this tragedy.

Why is she being framed for this murder or is she?

What secret is she hiding from the the police and her lawyer?

Is she protecting someone from this tragedy?

What happened to the woman that’s was on the ledge did she really fall?

Must read to find out!!

This book is a masterpiece to the thriller genre! An insanely twisted, clever tale starring one of the most brilliant MCs that I will not be forgetting any time soon. I felt like I was trying to find my way out of a maze but kept getting turned around and having to start all over again. This book was not at all what I was expecting. It was so much more and just plain brilliant! This was my first read by Mancini and it will definitely not be my last. I highly recommend!

Well! Where do I even start with this one? I started out believing I knew exactly what was going on, turns out I had completely no idea.

There are books with twists and turns and then there are books that give you whiplash and this one left me with a definite sore neck but in a very good way.

I think what I loved so much about this book is that the characters were so well written, I was so invested in all of them. There were a few I didn’t like much but that’s the point I think.

I recommend going into this one blind like I did, it made it even more interesting and surprising and that much more shocking, cause yes this one has lots of shocks!

I highly recommend this book to lovers of psychological thrillers. This one will be in my head for a long time

The Woman on the Ledge had me hooked from the beginning and I had no idea what was going to happen until the very end!!

Every time a twist is revealed it goes back in time, there is also some alternating points of view to keep you on your toes. It took me a minute to catch up sometimes on the different point of view because the chapters aren't labelled with who's point of view it is, but it was very easy to get back into the flow of the story.

A couple triggers to know before going into this one: brain cancer, and grooming of a child (grown male and 14 year old girls).

Overall I could not put this one down and thoroughly enjoyed all the twists and turns!

Tate Kinsella is blamed for the death of a woman that fell to her death.
This book is definitely a psychological thriller. I don't want to give you more details because more will throw you off of what happens and why.
Loved, loved this book.
Thanks to publisher Penguin and to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you @bibliolifestyle @harperperennial for the #gifted copy of this book!

I know I just posted this as a tour maybe a week or so ago but I just finished this one and DING DING DING I needed to pop back out here and tell you we have a banger! I believe Ruth mentions…”Revenge is best served cold” and boy was she right!

This book was not what I expected in the best possible way! I did not see the direction of this book was headed and was completely blown away! A woman falls to her death from 25 stories up and the last person to see her was you. 👀 There is no other way anyone could have been in the office building except you and it’s all tracked by security badges and cameras. The police narrow in quickly and make an arrest since you’re the only logical person they should arrest. The crazy part is you actually talked her off the ledge and stopped her from jumping just 24 hours before. You had nothing to do with this and you think someone is setting you up! As time goes on, we discover you haven’t been as honest as we once thought. There is definitely more to this story!

This book gave me Wrong Place Wrong Time Vibes. The event happens in the very beginning and Ruth takes us back through the past and how it came to be. I can almost guarantee you will not guess the ending! This one was clever, cunning, unputdownable, and the best revenge book I’ve read in a long time. I realize after reading this one and books like Look Closer I really appreciate the revenge plot that is carefully crafted over a period of time. If you are looking for an edge of the seat thriller this is your sign to buy this one! I absolutely loved this one!

I think I might be an outlier on this one. While it was a fast read, I only enjoyed certain parts of it.

Quick Synopsis: Tate is a temp worker attending an office party in a high rise building who meets a suicidal woman. She convinces her not to jump and they spend the evening bar hopping and trading secrets of their lives. Until the next day when a woman does in fact commit suicide and Tate was witness. This is where things start to unravel.

What I liked: There were some good twists roughly halfway through that I wasn't expecting. That's always a plus! It also was a very quick read and wasn't dull.

What I didn't like: Once the twist happened, it took a bit of a turn that I felt came out of nowhere compared to the first half. It seemed like I was reading another novel and there weren't enough breadcrumbs in the first half to warrant the second half/final resolution.

Many people enjoyed this, I did as well, it just didn't fully tie together for me in the end.

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

WOW! Now this is what I call a SPECTACULAR and RIVETING psychological thriller!!! This story had every element you hope to have in this genre and I loved every twist, turn and mind-blowing dynamic on each and every page! Aspiring actress Tate Kinsella is working as a temp employee in a London bank. When she steps out on the rooftop to have a cigarette during the company Christmas party, she encounters a woman sitting on the ledge of the building. Who is this woman? And why is she literally teetering on the edge?

If you enjoy start to finish FABULOUS psychological thrillers, you too will love this one. Just when you think you know the answers to my questions, think again because I guarantee you don’t. This is my first Ruth Mancini book and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into more.

Thank you NetGalley, Harper Perennial and Ruth Mancini for allowing me the opportunity to read this phenomenal story in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow, wow, wow! I am reserving my highest praise for Ruth Mancini's the Woman on the Ledge. Think Christie, Holmes, and Hitchcock all rolled into one spectacular tale.

Imagine your worst nightmare - being arrested because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's what happens to Tate after she successfully talks a woman down from the ledge of her office highrise.

Told in several versions from different points of view, we get the impression the story is being made up as Mia narrates it. Far from it! This was a twisty, turny plan, plotted out with a precision that boggles the mind! I can't wait to see what Ruth Mancini does next, because I'm here for it!

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Perennial for an advance reader's copy. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

Thanks Netgalley and Harper Perennial for the advanced reader copy!

Oh man this was good, I got sucked in right away and didn’t want to put it down. Tate is unreliable and as things unfold initially you are confused as to what’s really going on, but I loved that. I loved that I couldn’t quite predict most of the twists and turns. It does get heavy with some of the content (see warnings below) that may trigger some readers, but as the story progresses we are given a fuller picture from both Tate and the woman who died. Honestly, at like 70% I began feeling Whisper Network vibes, which I really liked (maybe I’ll reread soon).

Content and trigger warnings include suicide, light profanity, talk of infidelity, statutory rape including a scene when a character recounts what happened in detail, and terminal illness.

I genuinely really liked this one and thought it was done very well. If you like thrillers, mysteries, and stories that are told by unpredictable characters, give this one a try! It’s available now!

This book has given me trust issues! As soon as you think you have it figured out, something else unfolds and you're excitedly wondering again and turning pages to find out. I stayed up until my eyes crossed reading this.

This just felt really fresh and different. The format was unique, and it takes a second to figure out. The story is told in several parts, each original and more shocking than the last and in the last third of the book, it's just really satisfying to see it all coming together.

What started as an interesting mystery, a resounding "why?" to everything that is happening, turns into something actually pretty beautiful. This is going to stick with me.

I support women's rights but I also support women's wrongs. I like it when they do bad things.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review.

Tate is a failed actress who is working as a temp at a investment bank. At her company’s Christmas party, she steps outside to have a smoke and meets Helen who is sitting on the ledge, contemplating suicide. Tate talks her down and they go their separate ways. The next day Tate learns that a woman has fallen 25 feet to her death, and she is arrested for her murder. But did she do it? What really happened?

When nothing is as it seems, it won’t be solved until the very end.

This was the thriller that I had been waiting for. I was hooked with this story right from the start and it held my interest throughout. It was so multi-faceted and layered. This thriller was so twisty turny and so much fun. I loved so much about this one as it was so delicately crafted and nuanced.

The writing in this book was fantastic and had me guessing until the last twist was revealed and there were so many twists, I loved it. Just when I thought I had the whole story figured out, another twist was thrown my way. The pacing was very fast, almost too fast, but it was engaging.

I loved how unreliable Tate was as a character. I love a good unreliable character because you just love to hate them, and that was the case with Tate. Nothing is as what it seems, and that was proven over and over again.

I loved that this is one of those stories that I felt like I read but the more I got into it, the more I realized it was different. I also enjoyed the flashes back to the past, though I wish they would have been marked better in the chapter headings. It was a very complex read.

If you are looking for a fun and complex psychological thriller that will leave you guessing until the very end, then check this one out.

**4.5-stars rounded up**

Prior to receiving a copy of this book, I had been hearing so much buzz about it, almost entirely favorable. I definitely wanted to get on board the hype-train, because in my life FOMO is a very real thing. If I see friends reading and enjoying something, I want it. I was super excited to check it out and see if I would love it as much as everyone else seemed to.

Y'all, I'm so happy to report, the hype is real with this one. I found it absolutely gripping from the very first pages. It was so intriguing and it actually felt different to me than other recent Psychological Thrillers. I'm not knocking other Psychological Thrillers, it's one of my favorite subgenres, but this one just had a unique feel to it that's hard for me to explain.

In this story, we meet Tate, who at the very beginning of the story is arrested for murder after a woman plunged to her death from the rooftop of the building Tate works in. We have police interviews, attorney-client consultations, flashbacks, all of these different components weaving together beautifully to build-out this narrative.

I loved watching the truth be revealed. As a Reader, you initially have no idea what is going on. You're getting a lot of the presentation of events from Tate, but how trustworthy is she? What is her motive and what is she hiding?

I've said it a million times, I am such a sucker for an unreliable narrator and Tate definitely fits the bill. Additionally, the pace with which Mancini reveals the truth at the heart of this story is exceptional.

There was a little bit of a lull for me somewhere around the 60% point, where some of the explorations of the issue this story mainly tackles got a bit, for my taste, repetitive and heavy-handed, but that is purely personal taste. Overall, I was quite impressed with the structure of this story, the character development and the constantly compelling story arc.

This is the first that I have read from Ruth Mancini, but I cannot wait to read more. I definitely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys an intense, twisted, thought-provoking and engaging Psychological Thriller.

Thank you so much to the publisher, Harper Paperbacks, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I had such a fun time reading this and have been thinking about it ever since. This was a great way to kick off a new year of reading!

A very twisty legal thriller. Just when I thought I had the narrative figured out, Mancini would take it in an unexpected direction. This happened several times till the bigger picture of what was happening began to coalesce. A better title might have been "Women on the Edge" - without saying too much that would spoil the narrative turns that this novel takes, Mancini offers us a handful of brave and very angry women intent on righting a horrible wrong. For fans of suspense and domestic thrillers. Thank you to Harper Perennial and NetGalley for the ARC.

WOWZA!

A woman falls from a ledge, another woman is arrested, and this woman had no idea what was going to happen next! I thought I had things figured out. I thought I knew where things were going, but I wasn't even close to being right. Ruth Mancini has crafted and jaw dropping, gripping and twist filled read which kept me on my toes, turning the pages, and wanting more.

Tate is questioned after a woman, she only met the evening before, fell to her death from the building Tate had been working in as a temporary employee. Tate's story keeps changing and she doesn't appear to be innocent, but is she guilty?

Woohoo this proved to be a hard to put down read for me. I found this book to be addictive and well thought out. There are so many twists and turns that I almost got whiplash! There were so many times in this book that I thought I FINALLY had things figured out only to have another piece of the puzzle fall into place.

This is how you do it!!!! This psychological thriller was fantastic! I look forward to reading more of this author's books.
