I have been so excited for Soledad’s book since she was introduced in Before I Let Go. I absolutely loved her personal growth and it was incredible to watch her come into herself. Soledad and Judah’s relationship was beautiful and their relationships with their kids was so sweet. As with all Kennedy Ryan books, this was an emotional story but it was also such an empowering story. I highly recommend this series and I am so excited to get Hendrick’s story next year.

This is my second Kennedy Ryan book and I gobbled it up. The way so the mom picked herself up after what her husband did was astounding. The main FMC Soledad did what she had to do to provide for her daughters by becoming a content creator and making her cooking videos. I also like how the author Incorporated the main characters Puerto Rican Heritage into the book.
The main MMC Judah I can really relate to because my nephew was diagnosed with autism after reading the book. His twin boys mannerisms really related to me with my nephew.
Kennedy Ryan continues to blow me away with her incredible storytelling. Soledad & Judah’s story was such an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every minute of it. I related to Sol on such a visceral level and I adored seeing her become the best version of herself and find her true happiness. Judah, the man you are. No notes.
The female empowerment and focus on their friendship is everything to me. I cannot wait to read more from Kennedy. She is definitely becoming an all time favourite authors of mine.
5/5 ⭐️
- Wow!! This book was everything! The themes of self-love and learning to stand on your own were powerful and so needed in today’s stories about independent women. I devoured this empowering story.
- The book is full of amazing quotes and would be a great book club pick. The unique plot and autism representation were standout elements. I loved the year-long timeline and dual POV, which allowed the friendship to naturally evolve into something more.
- Judah was the perfect balance of soft and strong. The garage scene—whew!!
- Normally, I wouldn’t enjoy a romance as a subplot, but it was brilliantly done here. Soledad’s journey of self-discovery and solo dating took center stage, reminding us to prioritize our own healing. I can’t wait to read it again!
I loved previous Kennedy Ryan books so I was so excited to read this one. It did not disappoint!
Thank you, netgalley for my copy of this book! I loved the love story in this book but there was also SO much more. The relationship between Sol and Judah was beautiful to read and the spice!
Definitely recommend this one!
I finally took the time to read Soledad’s story and I’m sad I waited so long! This book did so many things right and I enjoyed the journey that Soledad took to feel comfortable standing on her own two feet (the influencer aspect was so well done and not cheesy at all)! Also can we talk about that coparented relationship between Tremaine and Judah?! Beautiful. This series is great and I am definitely looking forward to Hendrix’s story!
I enjoyed the depth of this story.
I am very interested in seeing what I assume to be a trilogy to continue.
Beautiful story about self discovery.
Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing), the author, and NetGalley for the free gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
Kennedy Ryan is one of the best romance authors of our time, she writes deep and intricate romance books with super unique and mature plot lines.
I enjoyed her first book of the Skyland series, so I was super excited to read the second. My only gripe with these books is sometimes they can feel a little too “performative” but overall have great stories and messages.
The book caught my attention right away with the crazy drama that the book starts with, which I always love. It kept my attention til the very end.
A tension-filled romance with a super unique divorcee plot line that makes you rethink normal romance books.
“This Could Be Us” is the much anticipated continuation of Kennedy Ryan’s Skyland series. It tells the story of Soledad and her personal journey after the devastating betrayal of her husband.
In the opening scenes of the book it is obvious that things are not going well between Soledad and her husband Edward. For the past two years they haven’t been on the same page emotionally, communicatively, or sexually. Soledad feels him slipping away from her and their family and despite her best efforts, it’s just not enough.
Despite what is going on in the background of their marriage, Soledad makes sure to keep up appearances by arriving at Edward’s annual Christmas work dinner party as a united front. It is here where Soledad meets Judah and the attraction between them is instantaneous and intensive. However, despite the chemistry that is undeniably percolating between them, they have to leave it at that because of Soledad’s marital status.
Pretty soon it becomes apparent why things are strained between Soledad and Edward. Not long after they leave the holiday party Edward is taken from the family home and is arrested on the charges of embezzlement from the company that he works for. Edward’s treachery financially cripples Soledad and her girls. When it is brought to her attention that Judah was hired by the company to investigate Edward and that it is his findings that exposes her husband’s felonious behavior, she becomes incensed. Any attraction Soledad feels for him evaporates.
Once she is able to finally express her intense anger at her husband in moment in the story that can only be described as spiritual, Soledad immediately goes into fix-it mode. She is fighting for her girls and herself; she knows that it is now up to her to make sure that her daughters’ lives are minimally impacted by Edward’s misdeeds. With the help of her best friends Yasmeen and Hendrix, Soledad sets out on a journey of self-discovery where she truly learns the meaning of self-love.
In his quiet way Judah shows Soledad that he is her biggest supporter. As a result of many kind and generous acts displayed by him, Soledad realizes that her anger at him was misplaced. Pretty soon they develop a friendship, which gradually turns into love.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novel. If I have to have one criticism, I would say that it seems that the story focuses primarily on Soledad’s quest for self-love, which kind of eclipses the love that develops between her and Judah. It may have worked better if “This Could Be Us” was a book that came in two parts. There is a lot to pack in between Soledad’s crumbling marriage, her subsequent divorce, her own personal self-journey, and her relationship with Judah. I do not think that many would complain if there were a sequel that just focuses on them.
While it is not my favorite of the two existing books in this series it is still a great read and it makes me excited for Hendrix’s book.
Loved every bit of Soledads story. Self-discovery in the midst of chaos is really something. Judah Cross is added to the list of book boyfriends.
Edward!…Edward!…Edward! You got off way to easy, I wish he suffered way more.
This is such a heartfelt book! I’m so happy I got to experience this. The feelings were, just amazing! Sol did an amazing job not only expressing herself as a mom, but as a woman and a great role model
To her kids
This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan is a compelling romance that explores themes of love, identity, and resilience. With its richly drawn characters and emotional depth, the story dives into the complexities of relationships and personal growth. Ryan's writing is engaging and heartfelt, making the novel a captivating read.
Honestly one her best works and would always recommend. This is the second book in this series, the first being before I let go, and this is soledads and Judah story. Single dad, cry worth romance.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. Kennedy Ryan is forever an icon with her writing.
I will never stop recommending her. Its sensual and has so much self-healing and helped me so much in a time of need.
Amazing.
I am quickly falling in love with Kennedy Ryan. Perhaps, I should be more specific and say her writing. I absolutely loved Before I Let Go. How could I NOT read This Could Be Us?! I can appriciate how she marries story with steamy and pulls the relationship to the front line while still giving some steam we can all enjoy. There are be lessons to be had in This Could Be Us much like her other books. Independence, self love, motherhood and friendship are just some of the things we get when delving into this read. It is still up in the air which one of the books I enjoyed more in this series perhaps a re-read of both are required to make that decision.
There's so much that can be said about this book! The history lesson, main characters, the drama, and the supporting cast were all amazing!
Soledad had depth, was both fierce and lovable, and so well written. I loved how she fought to recover from heartbreak, financial struggles, parenting/growing pain, and so much more. The fact that she took time to fully heal from all that was sent to break her will be an inspiration to ppl, not just women, everywhere!
Judah was so incredibly lovable. He was patient, kind, an amazing friend, an even better father, and truly an all around heart throb.
This book was so well written but at this point we expect as much from Mrs. Ryan!
I can't wait to read book 3 in the Skyland series!
Kennedy Ryan is such an amazing writer and story teller. Her characters always feel so real. They feel human, and there are always these bits and pieces of their lives I can relate to. I loved reading about Soledad. Her journey of rediscovery and self partnering was inspiring and heart felt. I loved reading about her loving herself first!
This may be my favorite plot of Kennedy Ryan’s so far. It was so unique and so unexpected. I went into this pretty blind and I am so happy that I did.
In my opinion, I think this reads more like a woman’s fiction than a romance. Although there is still romance in this story. It was just that this story was more about Soledad finding herself after a BIG blow up of her life and having to be strong for her family and basically starting over at 40.
The love between Soledad and Judah was so realistic. I loved it so much! Kennedy knows how to write swoony men with big hearts. I loved that both Soledad and Judah had kids. Soledad with 3 teenage girls and Judah with twin boys.
Just like in ‘Before I Let Go’ the female friend group was so funny and supportive. Hendrix is absolutely hilarious and I can’t wait for her story next. I have a feeling I will relate to her the most. 🤎
Some favorite quotes:
“You have a way of doing that, taking shitty things and making them turn out great.”
“Just one kiss.”
“Then I better make it count.”
“This could be our wild card, Sol. We can make it whatever we want it to be.”
“You make me forget the world when you kiss me, and it’s reckless and out of control, and yet there is no safer place. No one I trust more. You’re a harbor, not just for me, but … for anyone you love and who needs you. You are the seed and you are the vine, and I love you, Judah.”
- Main characters in their 40’s
- Divorce
- Slow Burn
- Autism Representation
- Found Family
This book is the Skyland Series by Kennedy Ryan. I cried, I laughed, I was shooketh to my core, I was angry, I was proud of Soledad and I absolutely loved this book. This book was so relatable on so many different levels. It had me hooked from the first chapter. I loved the autism representation especially from a parent’s perspective. I love Soledad and Judah so much.
I haven't read the first book in the Skyland series yet so I was a little worried that I would be lost starting off with this one. However, I'm happy to say that was not the case at all. THIS COULD BE US can absolutely be read as a standlalone. Hallelujah!
I completely devoured this book. It was inspiring, entertaining and unputdownable. Not only did I enjoy the swoony romance between the main characters, but I also really enjoyed Soledad's personal story. Her struggles and triumphs in motherhood and marriage, her uplifting journey to self-discovery, she was a force to be reckoned with and I loved it.
I also really appreciated the fantastic neurodivergent representation in this novel. It was enlightening.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Forever Pub for access to the e-book in exchange for an honest review!
