I've enjoyed the Synneful Spinsters series, The Duke's All That included. Wow, Seraphina and Iain. They're both such good characters. There's a hint of dark as life's been unkind to them in their youth but now they're wonderful people and so deserving of everything they have and can have.

Britton writes fun, interesting, somewhat quirky characters. Seraphina is such a great sister. She's given everything she can to her sisters after enduring hell and taking them from their father. She's not let that hell stop her from being productive and caring. Iain's life has taken a turn he never saw coming and provided him amazing opportunities. Unfortunately, in good romance novel fashion, they are each under very wrong impressions of each other based on happenings the day they married all these years ago. After finally finding Seraphina, Iain has come to secure a divorce from the woman he believes spurned him. Seraphina wants nothing to do with the man would left her for a pile of cash. The two are forced to travel together to their former home to obtain a divorce and both cannot wait for it to happen. Of course, these two were fated for each other all those years ago and the trip does nothing but reinforce their feelings. It's not all as easy as that though and Seraphina refuses to get out of her own way!

There's a bit of danger, some dirty dealing, some dark times and when all seems lost will these two ever find their HEA? And let me add, the parrot is great! Entertaining but also indicative of Seraphina's character and personality!

Anyone who enjoys regency romance or romance in general will surely enjoy this book.

Thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for the ARC.

This is a lovely story about a second chance with a past love with engaging characters and a little bit of a mystery that will keep you entertained. Ian and Seraphina had amazing chemistry even after so many years apart. I enjoyed that they were forced to be close together due to their trip, which allowed them to get to know one another again and discover the truth about what really happened to cause them to be separated for 13 years. This book was hard to put down as I wanted to find out all about what happened to Seraphina and to see if and how she and Ian would be able to overcome their past hurt and start over, so they could finally have their happily ever after. I loved that Ian was able to reconcile with his grandmother and cousin. I adored Seraphina's pet parrot, Phineas. I laughed every time Ian called him a pigeon. If you are a fan of second chance romances, you need to read this book!

This regency romance left me with a heavy heart, ranking among the saddest I've encountered. Witnessing Seraphina and Iain rediscover love on their journey to Scotland for a divorce was bittersweet, especially considering Seraphina's tragic backstory. While the closure she received by sharing her story with her sisters, friends, and Iain was necessary, I found myself yearning for a few more scenes towards the end to fully recover

Lady Seraphina Trews and Iain McInnes fell in love while he worked in her father, The Earl of Farrow's stables at home in Scotland. They married without her father's permission and when she went to say goodbye to her sister's, her father separated her and Iain and led them to believe they had betrayed each other. Fast forward 13 years, Iain is now the Duke of Balgair and believes Seraphina to have died in an accident along with her 2 sisters, Millicent and Elspeth. Iain finds Seraphina after he received a long lost letter from a deceased housekeeper who used to work at the Earl of Farrow's home in Scotland informing him that she was still alive. Iain is seeking a divorce so that he may remarry and have an heir to inherit his title and fortune. Seraphina has much trauma in her past that she has not shared with her sisters or her closest friends, the Oddments who are featured in other books in the series. As Iain and Seraphina travel together to Scotland to obtain a divorce they are placed in close and intimate contact with each other. Feelings they long thought was dead were reawakened. After they shared an intimate encounter, Iain would like to rekindle their marriage but he has not revealed to Seraphina that he is now a Duke and she does not want any part of the aristocracy because of the past she and her sister's went through with her father. I wasn't expecting the plot to reveal what it did but I couldn't put the book down until I finished the story. It was very engrossing and poignant. A true love really does conquer all tale.

This is Book 3 in the Synneful Sisters and I am so fortunate to have gotten to read them all.

Book 3 follows Seraphina and Iain through their re-meet and re-falling in love. I love that this series has strong women and was set in a time when women were not empowered to be more than a housewife. Seraphina is a spirited woman who has been knocked down, mostly by her own father. She still gets up and takes on caring for her sisters and escaping their horrible father. During the story, it turns out that she had to do less than savory actions to keep a roof over their head at times, but she is the heartbeat of the sisters. The story is told while traveling on the road and Seraphina and Iain are reconnecting.

I hope there are more books to come in this series, as I have enjoyed a few of the sub-characters and would love for them to have their own stories told.

I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

My first, not my last!

What happens when the truth is revealed?

Can Iain and Seraphina find the love they once had?

Will her father pay a price for what he did?

I do enjoy second chances and this author did a fine job of holding me emotionally and through a very well told story!

I will be checking out her backlist!

GREAT! That is all. Okay, so that is not all. This story contained some favorite tropes: second chance, road trip and one bed. Oh yeah! I absolutely loved this story. The characters are fantastically written by Christina. This book is a tad on the dark side just so you know. But it progresses and you learn the whys and misunderstandings and it is so emotional. Queue: get out the tissues. Iain was so deadest with getting a divorce and Seraphina decides it is the best thing also but along the way magic starts to happen. This is chef’s kiss perfect and is my favorite book of this series. Christina applause to you.

The Duke’s All That by Christina Britton
Synneful Spinsters series #3. Historical romance. Can be read as a stand-alone. Previous characters show up briefly a couple of times and this would be a spoiler for the previous books in the series.
Iain MacInnes, the new Duke of Balgair, thought his wife of one day took money from her father to leave him and then tragically died. He receives a letter saying she’s alive and he’s determined to find her now and divorce her. Before she finds out he’s a Duke now.
Seraphina was told that Iain just wanted money and when her father paid him off, he left.
They were both lied to although neither knows it. Seeing each other again makes each mad but at the same time the attraction is still there.

Iain and Seraphina have a lot of chemistry when they meet again after many years apart, but there is also ugly history to wade through.
The middle, their travel, is long. Yes, they are reestablishing a relationship and connecting. We find out more about her time away and gradually what happened. We feel their longing.
They are both proud of their accomplishments and rightly so. But stubborn too. A little more openness would have gone a long way with each other as well as family and friends. And less of their travel time would have been fine too. But that’s me gripping.
In the end, we get a well deserved romance for the couple. It is sad they were kept apart but I did enjoy Seraphina’s strength in confronting the past.

When Iain lets go of his anger to re-meet his grandmother and cousin, and to finally establish true family, it brought tears both for the loss in the past and the closeness to be their future.
The pet parrot added a bit of levity during the travel.
I enjoyed the romance and continuity for the series with the secondary characters.
4.25

It's always fun taking a trip to the Isle of Synne with the Odd Ladies. Seraphina has lots of secrets in her past and one of them, Iain MacInnes, Duke of Balgair, shows up knocking at her door demanding a divorce. As the story unfolds you get to see what drew them together in the first place and ultimately what drove them apart. This is a great second-chance romance that has depth, great characters and of course a HEA. This series has been so fun--there's something for everyone!

Many thanks to Forever Grand Central Publishing & Netgalley for the ARC.

The Duke’s All That is a good conclusion to the Synneful Spinsters trilogy, and the best book of the three.

I liked both Seraphina and Iain. They were complex characters who both dealt with trauma and loss. Seraphina’s story was a good illustration of the lack of women’s agency of that time, and the few options that were available to women to survive.

One thing I really appreciated in the book is that after Seraphina and Iain learn the truth of their past parting, it did not automatically fix anything. They had to come to know each other as they were now in the story.

Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing), NetGalley and the author for the advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.

This series has been freaking awesome! Christina continues to amaze me with her storytelling abilities. She has created another addictive romantic romp that I read in one sitting. This is the third book in the Synneful Spinster series, and it can be read as a stand-alone. But if you are a fan of Regency romances, I would highly recommend reading the entire series because it is such a fun series to read.
The Duke's All That focuses on Seraphina, who has been a bit of a mystery up to this point. In her group of friends who call themselves the Oddments, Seraphina has always been more reserved and guarded. She hasn't shared her past or how she and her sisters have ended up on the Island of Synne. We don't know much about her. I've been excited to learn more about her character, and I am happy to say that Seraphina's story did not disappoint me. The beginning of the book starts off with Seraphina and Ian getting married in secret. We know that Seraphina's father disapproves of the union and that these two plan on moving to Canada to start a new life. Before they leave, Seraphina goes to quickly say goodbye to her two sisters, and that is how the first chapter ends. The next chapter picks up many years later, and we learn that Ian has inherited a Dukedom and has just discovered that Seraphina is alive and living on a small island with her sisters. Ian's hatred for Seraphina leaps from the pages, but we don't know the reason for this hatred or why these two aren't together. Then we jump to Seraphina's POV, and we finally get to see what is going on in her head. She often alludes to dark and painful secrets and events that have happened to her. But those walls she has built are still up, and it's a bit for us to see what is behind them. When Seraphina first sees Ian on the Island of Synne, she panics because she thinks her father, whom she has been hiding from, may also know that she and her sisters are alive. When she learns that Ian only wants a divorce and that she will have to go to Scotland with him to get it, she feels like her carefully guarded world is starting to crumble. It is also apparent that she hates Ian for what he did to her, but we don't know what it is that he did. Ian and Seraphina set out to Scotland to get a divorce, but what they both learn on this journey will change their lives forever.

I loved everything about this book. Christina knows how to hook her readers in and keep them engaged and wanting more. I enjoyed this sense of mystery that is woven throughout the story. There are a lot of unknown elements in this book, and Christina does an excellent job at slowly giving us the information we need to solve these mysteries. Fans of second chance, enemies to lovers, miscommunication, and road trip romances will devour this book. All of these tropes come together to create a gripping and captivating story. I'm not always a fan of stories that have miscommunication as one of their main tropes, but it works in this instant. The main hurdle and conflict between Ian and Seraphina is whatever caused them to separate after they got married. For about 50% of the story, these two have an active burning hatred for each other. As a reader, we know that a third party (Seraphina's father) is most likely responsible for the events that caused these two to separate, but since neither Ian nor Seraphina is willing to talk to each other, it takes a bit for them to figure out what happened. Once things come to light and they realize that it was Seraphina's father who was the evil mastermind behind their separation, they both have to decide if they can still have a life together or have too much time passed to have a relationship. I knew that these two characters would get their HEA, but I had no idea what the journey to that ending would look like. I went on a wild, fast-paced ride and loved every minute. I also loved that the bad guy, aka Seraphina's father, doesn't actually appear until the end of the book. But his presence is felt throughout the whole story; he becomes this ominous threat that helps drive the plot along.

Ian and Seraphina's characters were all that I wanted them to be. Seraphina is more reserved and has had to do things to keep her sisters safe that she doesn't want the world to know. This causes her to appear to be distant and aloof. Underneath that hardened exterior is someone who is scared and wants to be loved. And Ian has a hard time getting over past hurts. He has a hard time accepting what happened and this new version of Seraphina. When we first meet these two characters, they are madly in love with each other. We know that they are meant to be together. But their lives don't go according to plan; now they have to re-learn how to be a couple again. Having a road trip as part of the story allows these two characters to spend the maximum amount of time together, which creates the perfect environment for them to reconnect.

The Duke's All That is a captivating story filled my heart with excitement and love.

Thank you, Forever Publishing, for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

What a lovely continuation to the series. Second chance romances that have to overcome so many obstacles put before them.
Seraphina and Iian had to learn to love again after so many years of her. They were pulled apart by life and circumstances that they had to overcome.
This was a book that showed so many facets of love and How they overcame them. The angst was so strong.

Thirteen years ago Iain MacInnes a lowly stable lad & Lady Seraphina Trew fell in love & secretly married. They planned to travel to Montreal to start a new life but she never returned from saying goodbye to her two sisters. Both believe the other betrayed them. Seraphina spirited her sisters away from their abusive father & they’ve made a life for themselves on the Isle of Synne. Iain’s life has also changed now the Duke of Balgair he believes his wife is dead—until he receives word that she is very much alive and living under an assumed name. He sets off with only one goal in mind: bring his wife back to Scotland where he can divorce her and expose her for the liar she is.
Whilst this book could be read on its own I’d recommend reading the earlier books where we’ve sort of got to know Seraphina & her sisters. There was always a mystery about the three sisters & their backstory especially Seraphina’s didn’t disappoint. Boy had she been put through the mill! But she hadn’t caved instead had become a very strong resilient woman, I really admired & loved her. Iain had helped other Scots before becoming a Duke when all the other male heirs had died. I loved their journey to Scotland it gave them time to reconnect & both realised their feelings but Seraphina was too stubborn for her own good & it took the other Oddments to make her wake up & grasp what she wanted. I loved Phineas who always made me smile. I also loved that part of the book was set in my home city of Durham. My only quibble was that the Earl of Farrow didn’t get the comeuppance, which he richly deserved. A very well written book, which I loved & found hard to put down
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This book was in fact something different to the most of the Historial Romances I've been reading. I had fun while reading this story, it just didn't catch my attention as much as I would've liked. I do recommend because the yearning was great, just didn't love it.

I got an e-arc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Duke's All That is the third book int the Synneful Spinsters series. Iain MacInnes,

Iain the Duke of Balgair, has believed for the last thirteen years his wife is dead—had died, until a letter arrives to let him know that she is still alive. He is determined to bring his wife back to Scotland where he can divorce her.

Seraphina took her sisters and left their father to escape his greedy plans. She has kept secret that things she did in order for them to survive. She is haunted by the things done to her and what she has done but does not feel free from the past. Believing the world will condemn her she keeps these things to herself in order to keep her sisters safe. But when Iain finds her, the love they felt sparks grow. Will they each be able to find the truth and love each other without the secrets of the past.

What a fun and entertaining romance this was. This was the first book in the series I have read. I will be looking forward to reading the series in its entirety.

It has been thirteen years since Iain MacInnes, the Duke of Balgair has seen his faithless, betraying wife, Lady Seraphina Trew and he has spent most of the last thirteen years believing she is dead, so when he learns that she is fact alive and living under an assumed name, he is livid and decides to track her down and demand a divorce, so he can be done with her once and for all! But nothing about Seraphina is simple and it takes months to find her, and when he does, things definitely do not go as planned and he is not happy to realize that despite everything, he still wants her. But this Seraphina is not the girl he fell in love with and married, and as he gets to know this woman who once owned his heart, he realizes that he still loves her and always will, but is love enough to overcome the secrets they both are hiding?

Seraphina defied her father the Earl of Farrow to marry Iain, a mere stableboy, but just hours later her joy is shattered when her father captures her and tells her that Iain sold her out, he then proceeds to try to break her and make her bend to his will. But Seraphina refuses to break and when she finally escapes his clutches, she runs away and takes her two younger sisters with her. For years they live hand to mouth and Seraphina does what she must to take care of them. After years of running, they find a home on the Isle of Synne and build a life for themselves, but Seraphina holds her secrets close to her vest, and no one, not even her sisters or her best friends in the Oddments know the truth of the horrors she has endured. When Iain shows up demanding she return with him to Scotland so they can get a divorce, she is loathed to leave her safe haven, but what choice does she have? As they make the long journey to Scotland, the truth of their separation is revealed and old feelings that clearly never died reignite, but when Seraphina learns the truth about Iain, she knows she can’t be the wife he needs and lets him go, breaking both their hearts all over again and making any chance for a HEA nearly impossible.

What a beautiful and emotional second-chance love story. This book was not what I was expecting and was a bit more angsty than I usually like, but what a story it was! It was a story of betrayal, lies, love, sacrifice, heartbreak, revelations, second chances, anguish, hard choices, and finally a HEA that didn’t seem possible. The book was a bit of a heavy read, but thankfully Seraphina’s foul-mouthed parrot Phineas adds a bit of levity and saves this book from being too dark. This is the third book in the series, but it could easily be read as a standalone title without a problem. If you love an angsty, second-chance romance that ends in a HEA, then this book is for you!

I can't say enough about this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Got to visit with characters from previous books . I believe this can be stand alone too. It kept me up late to find out how it ends. I didn't see the sisters knowing as much as they did about what was going on.
