First time in awhile that I've found it necessary to read a whole book overnight, and I'm so grateful for that! I love EVERYthing that Daniel Hurst writes but especially this series. I'm sad to see it end. I feel that it helped me enjoy the story, having read the previous installments, but it's really not necessary as Mr. Hurst does such a great job of giving the back history without boring those who are already familiar with it. However, if this is the first one you've had the pleasure of reading, I'm SURE you'll want to go back and read the two that led up to this.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read it early, as I find it hard to wait on Daniel Hurst's next books!
I was dying to get the final installment of the trilogy and no surprise, it was just as amazing as the precious two books! The writing style is flawless as always, the story moves forward as such a fast pace that I absolutely raced through the book. There's twists and intrigue and I was obsessed with finding out what would become of everyone!!! I don't want to give spoilers so I'm being incredibly vague but anyone who's read the previous 2 books will not be disappointed with how it all ends!
4.5 stars out of 5.
Wow, this book had me on the edge of my seat! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! This is the third book in the series and I think it ties everything up pretty nicely, even though the ending is a little unbelievable. Like the other books, everything flows so nicely and you get sucked in from the beginning. I was so excited to see the third book out and I had to get my hands on it to see what Fern has been up to since the last book. I would recommend reading the other books in the series first to better understand what Fern has done.
In The Doctor's Mistress we get to see what Fern and Alice have been doing since the last book ended. This book centers on Alice, who is raising her little girl. Drew, the doctor, is the father. Alice is really wrapped up in rage and the need to get back at Fern that she will not stop until she finds Fern, no matter what. We find out where Fern is hiding out and watch the events play out.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I am sad that this series is over, unless we get a POV from Drew or Rory.
That said, the ending, I don't know if I find it incredibly satisfied, or just so unrealistic after everything that Fern did to Alice. I can't say more without spoiling.
I am giving this book 4 stars, though I think I'm really giving this series 4 stars! It was my first intro to Daniel Hurst who I think is perfect for fans of Freida McFadden. They're short thrillers and usually the twists are worth the read!
This one had some twists and turns, but I definitely enjoyed book 1 and 2 of this series. While you could read it as a standalone as it does give you a recap of the other two books in the beginning, I highly reccomend reading the entire series!
Many thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy..
With thanks to the author Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy to review. Another amazing read from Daniel Hurst. This time it is the mistresses turn to tell her story, although the wife had input to the story as well. Alice is trying to track down Fern and Fern is trying to avoid being caught. There are so many twists and turns which I couldn't see coming. The book was unputdownable and the tension high. In this story i had less sympathy for Alice than previously as she seemed too selfish whereas Fern seemed to maybe be regretting her actions. I would never have guessed the ending, it totally blew my mind. I don't know how Daniel Hurst keeps coming up with these stories but he's doing a fantastic job. Another winner I think. Totally recommend this book to lovers of psychological thrillers.
Anyone who has read either or both of the other 2 books in this series will need no convincing to pick up this title! To those readers, or indeed anyone who picks this up as a standalone I can pretty much guarantee you will not be disappointed!
I personally couldn't wait to delve into this book! The lure of finding out what happens next for Fern and Alice was just too tempting (and as such I bumped this up my 'to read' list quite significantly!!)
This is a plot I don't feel it wise for me to summarise in any detail other than to say it is a book of cat and mouse, as Fern, who is on the run for the murder of her husband, is being hunted by Alice, the woman she framed for his murder, on account of the adultery between Alice and Fern's husband, Dr Drew.,
I LOVE the characters in this series, they are portrayed without judgement in a way that just makes them so refreshingly real and honest.
The plot is superb and as such this is an utterly worthy ending?! to this trilogy (if indeed this is the end, personally I would love to read more about these fascinating characters!!!
Another book from Daniel Hurst than I can not recommend highly enough.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy..
One of my favourite authors. This is the third offering in this series. As always several twists and turns, but I felt the intrigue tension and menace was not as strong in this third book
As soon as I seen this book I had to read it to see what Fern was up to now. The other were two so thrilling I new that this one would be the same and boy it was. Once again the story flowed well and some of the characters are ones you love to hate. It had me gripped throughout with an excellent ending which wraps things up nicely. I would definitely recommend reading all three books it lets you understand the characters and how their minds are working plus all three are fantastic thrilling reads. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.
Compared to the previous two books this instalment felt a little flat. Alice has been released from prison. having been falsely set up by Fern for her husbands Drew murder. I expected the character to come out guns blazing to exact her revenge. Alice came across as a feeble character following the birth of her daughter.
The book turned its self around in the last part of the book. I liked the way the author finished the story off. Would I have done the same as Alice?????
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an ARC
I’ve loved all of this series, however this one might just be my favourite.
It’s a great read and the perfect domestic thriller. It’s fast paced, has intriguing characters and plenty of twists and turns.
It’s more than worthy of 5 stars.
I’m now just hoping for a 4th one …..
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for access to this Arc in exchange for my honest review.
This is the 3rd book of the series andoenjoyable read.. I'm happy with how it ended. I really didn't see it coming !!! Since the beginning, I could only seeing the book ending one way, but I'm glad to been proven wrong !!
The Doctor’s Mistress is the third novel in The Doctor’s Wife series and it’s just as good as the first two books. The Doctor’s wife is on the run and the mistress is out for revenge. It’s a gripping thriller that builds the tension with each chapter and I found it hard to put down. Highly recommended. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.
I love this series! This is the 3rd book in The Doctor’s Wife series and it was as good as the first two! I love seeing these characters evolve and the story continuing. Great read as always by this author! Hoping for a 4th one! Thank you to NetGalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. Definitely recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My Review:
Loved!!!!! I want to start off by saying I called it. I said in my review for the second book in this series The Doctor’s Widow that the way the author left that ending there should be a third book. I was right and it was made into a trilogy. I was so happy and excited when it was revealed. I was jumping up and down for joy. I totally got sucked in all these characters lives in the first two books and I had to know what happened next to all of them. The Widow versus The Mistress. What a great story line that was. Just that alone made me want to read this one and find out who won in the end. This was the best plot ever. Oh and don’t get me started on that ending. It was shocking and left me totally speechless. It all came full circle in the end. It was the perfect ending to the perfect trilogy. I couldn’t ask for anything better than this. This author is by far one of my favorites and I can’t wait to read his next book.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a different way to end the book and story line. Completely different ending than what I would have liked but was ok with how the story played out.
Great author and a great series!
The 3rd instalment in the brilliant ‘Doctor’ series and is every bit as exciting, tense and well written as the previous 2,I would think most readers have come to Book 3 having been on the journey with Fern and Alice but if you haven’t there are references to what has brought us to this point and it is easy to catch up
Daniel Hurst is just so talented at writing a book that you start and cannot finish until you know the outcome,it is one of his trademarks…..his books are highly addictive, lucky for fans he is so prolific we get our fix regularly….and this book is no different, from page 1 to the last sentence I was full on into the story and loving it……his books remind you why reading is so wonderful,as always an excellent read
The Doctorś Mistress is the third and final book in The Doctorś Wife trilogy by Daniel Hurst.
It is full of twists and turns and surprises that Hurst is good for. The well developed characters make reading this series all the more enjoyable. I could not put this down and finished it in one sitting.
If you are looking for a fast paced series I highly recommend this one.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Bookouture for the ARC of this great book!
Alice, fresh from prison after being wrongfully accused of murder, is set to get revenge on the woman who set her up.
She hires a PI who is unable to track down Fern so she gives up. Then someone else tracks her down and she goes on and on about how awesome she is for finding her and how she will be the one to bring her to justice.
When she finally finds Fern, Fern helps her out instead of acts selfishly for once and all in the world is forgiven. The characters are just thrown to the wind and completely changed after two books where hey were relatively stable. It didn’t feel like character progression it was just changing things up to find some sort of ending. I hated it, I’m sorry.
Loved every single second of this book. Great follow on for the previous book and it was interesting to see how things were put in perspective near the end. You will not regret reading this book!
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Doctor's Mistress. Well this wrapped up very nicely. This was an awesome series and like the other books, I was always rooting for Fern, my heart was actually pounding so hard at one point imagining how she was feeling in one chapter. Alice was totally unappreciative of Tomlin so how that plot ended, I was happy with that. I Loved the whole series, sooo much Fun & Great to read!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU.
