Two bodies are found brutally killed at a lakeside cabin. Tori Hunter and Sheriff Braddock are devastated to learn that one of the dead is the daughter of one of their good friends. Then there is a jewelry store robbery and a home invasion. All of this gruesome upheaval takes a lot of investigating and not many clues for the team. This was my first book by this author. The book was fast paced, held my interest and I look forward to reading more by the author. Thank you Netgalley and Bookkouture for an advanced copy. The comments and review are my honest opinion.
This had such great potential from the blurb, but it sadly didn’t deliver for me. I will usually read a whole book in an evening, but this one took me three evenings as I was bored and kept putting it down.
The pace was very slow and because the perps were revealed very early on in the book, it was just a case of the police discovering what we already knew, which meant there was no suspense or tension and no twists.
I didn’t really care for the FBI agent, Tori, or her sheriff boyfriend, Will; they seemed to love throwing around their money and success with an arrogance that I didn’t feel to be justified.
2 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Roger Stelljes and Bookouture for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Another intriguing and can’t put down police crime drama from Roger Stelljes.
Agent Tori Hunter, Braddock and team have many clues but not many answers. The murder of a close friends daughter has them determined to solve what happened. As they work the case, they start to see a similarity to other crimes in the area. How do they tie together? Are they on the right path to solving this case?
The story is action packed!
I have no hesitation recommending Their Lost Souls. I do recommend reading the series in order. There is so much back story to Agent Tori Hunter that is important to know.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and author, Roger Stelljes, for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Part of a series, book 6 featuring agent Tori Hunter. A good story with lots of twists and turns. Two young lovers in the wrong place leads to a much wider story.
I love Tori Hunter and Braddock. The storyline is well developed and the action will keep you on your toes. Roger Stelljes always does an excellent job of tying multiple events together to bring the story to a close. As someone that has never visited Minnesota, I appreciate his love and description of the landscape and scenery.

I absolutely adore this author and these characters. Normally this is a consistently 5 star author for me. This one got 4 stars from me because I was not a huge fan of the story line. I adore these characters and the story was well written. It was just a little more mob/gang type than the stormy lines I love which are more serial killery. Overall it was a good read and the story flowed really well. I would still recommend this as a great read. The mix of making good guys also bad guys added an element of depth to this story as well
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of Their Lost Souls by Roger Stellljes.
It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did I was hooked. Tori and Braddock make a great team chasing down the bad guys in Minnesota, and this time it’s close to home with the first victim being the daughter of a close friend.
It takes time for them to see the way forward but when they do it leads to a thrilling takedown.
A good series.
I am such a fan of Roger Stelljes and the Tori Hunt series. This book kept me so intrigued as to how Tori would react when she learned how close she was to the people she was trying to catch! The twists just kept coming and I couldn’t put this one down! Highly recommend!
A cabin, a couple, and Agent Tori Hunter…this would make a great movie. The story kept me guessing. Intrigue and mystery, This talented author has written a cannot put down novel. The realistic characters came alive on the pages. The images stayed with me. Thanks Netgalley.
Another great Tori Hunter book. Not my favorite out of this series, but still good. First the positives; the story line between Tori and Braddock is on point as usual and I love how this story incorporated more of Tori's old high school friends in the story line. Negatives; I'm not a fan of all the back story dialogue, it's obvious that this is a series and should be read from book 1, so it just gets redundant. I don't think it needed to tie together so many different crimes, the initial murder in the story that started the investigation kind of got lost as the book went on, which was disappointing. All in all good book, I look forward to seeing where their relationship goes and hope to see more from Braddock's son Quinn in future books.
Their Lost Souls by Roger Stelljes is a great crime thriller that I couldn’t put down. I love this series and the characters are so well written. This was book 6 and can’t wait for the next. Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for my arc.
Absolutely loved this book and its characters. Will be going back to read earlier books in series . if you love crime dramas this book will keep you reading way past your bedtime
I love this Tori Hunter series, every book has just been brilliant. I love the relationship she has with her team and Braddock. A great exciting storyline where I was gripped from the first page to the last, I couldn’t put it down. A really good solid story. I highly recommend this book/series and author, you won’t be disappointed.
I love this Tori Hunter series, it's well written with excellent, well developed characterisation and clever plotting. I was totally engrossed in this right until the last page and sorry when it came to an end. There are some violent scenes but Tori and Braddock are a great team. I highly recommend the series. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
Good crime thriller! Loved Agent Tori Hunter and her team working together to solve the mystery. This was my first book with this author but definitely not my last!
I have grown very found of Tori, her team, her hometown, and the series in general. This book is a fantastic addition to this series, even though it is never easy to read about brutal, and unnecessary murders. This time around two young people, a couple, are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Tori and her team are on the case. The case gets more complicated since there are several people involved that Tori knows, or knew, very well.
This is such a great read, well-plotted, excellent writing, and intriguing character. I found that this book had a lot of character growth, but not only that, I felt like the town was growing as a character as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and highly recommend it to all readers who enjoy detective stories and police procedural.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Their Lost Souls, the sixth novel to feature former FBI Agent Tori Hunter, set in the fictional town of Manchester Bay, Minnesota.
The bodies of Ally Mannion and her boyfriend Reid are found murdered at a remote cabin. Tori knows Ally and is determined to find her killer, even if clues are thin on the ground. Then a skeleton is found at the bottom of a lake and is identified as a missing person from fourteen years ago. Tori believes the cases are linked and discovers a crime spree going back years.
I thoroughly enjoyed Their Lost Souls, which is a relatively long book that takes the time to cover a wide range of crimes and build a big story. I’m not always a fan but in this case I really liked the both sides narrative. The reader is in no doubt about what the bad guys are up to and yet the author still manages to throw in a few twists, while Tori and Will Braddock, both her life and work partner, play catch up. I like the contrast between knowing what and who are behind the crime spree and watching Tori and Braddock mount a thorough investigation, using their knowledge, experience and a touch of inspiration.
The novel has some big scenes that are cleverly thought out, sometimes violent and heartbreaking in others. This means that there is plenty of action to keep the novel going, but it doesn’t abandon characterisation. There is a fair amount of soul searching and explanations about decisions taken. It fleshes out the characters but all that navel gazing slows the reader down.
Their Lost Souls is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
Roger Stelljes' Nikki Hunt Series is a MUST READ. Absolutely one of the series that I cannot wait to get my hands on when a new book comes out. A former FBI agent, Nikki Hunt, often helps the local law enforcement on their cases. In Their Lost Souls, Nikki is called upon to help her significant other, Nick Blackwood, to investigate the shocking death of a friend's daughter, along with her boyfriend. Was it wrong place, wrong time or were Ally and her boyfriend targeted as Ally's dad is one of the richest men in Minnesota. Also, as a secondary story, Nikki is reunited with a high-school friend, Vee, who is experiencing some hardships due to bad luck and her daughter's accident. Their Lost Souls is Mr. Stelljes at is absolute finest! Must Read!! This Series is always on my must-read lists - Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.
I am really enjoying this series and it kept me entertained throughout and it was a definite one session read as I had to keep reading.
The character development and relationships are getting better and better (not that they weren't good before) and the story was really interesting and woved many different strands into it.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
