Sandcastle Inn is the tenth book in Irene Hannon’s Hope Harbor series. Hope Harbor, Oregon, is a small coastal town with its own unique charm. Although there are many longtime residents, the town seems to be a place where lost souls can come to mend.
Vienna Price spent a decade dedicating herself to a luxury boutique hotel chain, only to have her endless hours rewarded by being made redundant in a reorganization. While trying to figure out her next move, Vienna travels from her Denver home to visit her mother in Hope Harbor. Bev Price is rather bohemian as opposed to her daughter’s straight laced demeanor. However, both women are very creative. Bev’s Book Nook, a retirement endeavor, is Bev’s life and livelihood. The unique shop is an eye opener for Vienna, as she learns how to kindly overcome the women’s differences. In fact, it is Bev who suggests Vienna might want to get involved with the makeover at the Beachfront B&B.
The Beachfront B&B was purchased when widow Kay Marshall sunk her late husband’s life insurance in the place sight unseen and as is. Not her best move. Now, with an inn in need of a lot of work and the only contractor in town being booked well in advance she is stymied. In order to travel back to Boise to help the lady who had changed Kay and her brother’s lives when they were orphaned as she goes through some serious surgery, her brother, veterinarian Matt Quinn, has taken, albeit not willingly, a leave of absence to deal with the inn and see what he can do towards getting it up and running. Matt, also widowed, needs some R&R so he can maybe begin to heal.
After a financial disaster, Andrew and Paige Thompson must start over. Andrew, a carpenter and contractor, needs work. Homeless and living in a tent, the Thompsons just need an opportunity. It is through a posting on Bev’s community bulletin board that Paige Thompson learns about the need for a contractor at the B&B. Paige pushes Andrew to apply and to be very up front about their troubles. Bev also pushes Vienna to volunteer to do the rebranding, using the experience as a new highlight on her resume.
Through this unlikely grouping of four damaged people, much more that an old building will be restored. Once again Irene Hannon has provided her readers with a lovely tale of hope and healing in Hope Harbor. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it.
Welcome back to Hope Harbor! Another lovely story set in the small Oregon coast town of second chances.
This book had all the charm of the previous stories, plus an inspirational thread that hit home on many levels. Reconciling broken or damaged relationships, forgiving each other and their own past mistakes, moving on in life after major setbacks, and loving your neighbor were meaningful themes in this one. I enjoyed the cameo appearance of Charley and his animal sidekicks, helping hurting people with his divinely inspired wisdom. It wrapped up nicely with a romance and a lot of hope.
An enjoyable read for an afternoon at the beach or anytime of the year. 4.5 stars
I enjoyed this sweet story about two people trying to put their lives back together while helping others and mending relationships. While this is part of a series, this can easily be read as a standalone. Hope Harbor is a lovely place that is aptly named.
This is Christian fiction that is mostly clean romance.
Family friendly.
Sandcastle Inn by Irene Hannon – Scenic Beachside Town and Likeable Characters
Sandcastle Inn is Irene Hannon’s tenth novel in the Hope Harbor series. It was lovely to return to this beautiful, scenic, and welcoming small town.
Veterinarian Matt Quinn has come to town to help his sister Kay for a month. She is heading to Idaho to help a friend who is having surgery. Kay desperately needs help with her recent acquisition of a bed and breakfast. The B&B has a great view, but the insides need a lot of work before it will be ready for customers. Help may be close at hand with Vienna Price, a hotel marketing expert, who is in town following a job change. But can the work be completed in a short period of time and within budget?
Also passing through town are Andrew and Paige who are going through a rough season in their life. They have responded with honesty and integrity, but cannot seem to get a break. Thankfully, they are committed to one another, for better or for worse. Readers will be happy to see some of their favorite characters from earlier novels return. Especially Charley who has the best tacos in town. He is always there with kind and caring words, and wise counsel for friends and strangers alike. Hope Harbor would not be the same without the resident seagulls Floyd and Gladys.
I loved the characters in this book and enjoyed seeing how they were supported and encouraged by family and friends. In Hope Harbor, you can expect a little romance. While the town is lovely, the people are going through challenging times which can stir up emotional and relational issues. There were some gems of insight shared by characters. Characters dealt with issues including grief, forgiveness, patience, love, divine providence, and trusting God. Faith is a part of the story. I would like to have seen it go even deeper.
Sandcastle Inn is part of the Hope Harbor series, but works well as a stand alone book too. I enjoyed reading this book and liked the characters. With all the bad things going on in this world, sometimes you just want to read a feel-good story, with likeable people in a beautiful setting like Hope Harbor. I recommend Sandcastle Inn by Irene Hannon. The story has people you would like to meet, in a place you would like to visit, and leaves you feeling hopeful.
I would like to thank Revell Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of Sandcastle Inn by Irene Hannon. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review. Sandcastle Inn will be published April 2, 2024.
A trip to back to the small coastal town of Hope Harbor, Oregon means meeting wonderful characters and visiting with old friends, like Charley, artist and taco maker, a couple of local clergymen, who enjoy their teasing and competition, and others. We can always expect a heartwarming story of restored souls. Matt is on a much-needed R&R break from his vet practice, staying at his sister Kay's new but needing work inn while she is out of town. Vienna is between jobs where she works in the luxury hotel industry. She is visiting her mom, Bev, retired librarian and new owner of a bookstore, a popular spot for the community. Andrew and Paige need a break after a friend embezzled from their construction business, leaving them broke and homeless. The four come together through Bev and her community bulletin board to form a team to refurbish Kay's inn and great things happen, including romance, healing, and new beginnings. This is a great new addition to the series.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
I enjoyed the characters and storyline of this book. The overall theme of overcoming grief and guilt was powerful and kept me interested.
The relationship and romance of the book was okay for me. I wish there would have been a little more connection sooner as it seemed to rush at the end.
Great overall read and one I would recommend.
Irene Hannon’s tenth trip to the idyllic little town of Hope Harbor is just as enchanting as her first!
In Sandcastle Inn, you’ll find a story of second chances, of learning to forgive oneself, and of daring to embark on a new and uncharted course in life—proving once again that, in Hope Harbor, fairy tales do come true.
Completely delightful—this one will go on my TBR-Again stack!
*Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for the complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
** “God doesn’t hold our mistakes against us. He knows humans are an imperfect species. And mistakes aren’t an intentional infliction of injury, which is a different matter altogether. So why should we hold them against ourselves? In truth, expecting perfection may be a bit arrogant. Only God is perfect.” **
Irene Hannon once again takes us on a delightful journey to Hope Harbor with the series’ 10th installment, “Sandcastle Inn.”
Matt Quinn has come to the town that “is a wonderful refuge for those seeking healing and peace” to take a break from his life and his veterinary practice and help his sister get her B&B off the ground — a task that is much larger than he originally thought. When Kay needs to leave to help a childhood friend through a medical issue, Matt quickly realizes he has bitten off more than he can chew.
After suddenly finding herself jobless, Vienna Price decides to visit her mother in Hope Harbor while she re-evaluates her job path in the hotel industry. When she decides to help Matt and Kay upgrade the B&B, she soon finds new direction for her life.
Will both Matt and Vienna be able to successfully launch the newly rebranded inn? And will they answer the electricity flowing between them, all while accepting the miracles and guidance God keeps dropping in their paths?
Hannon once again creates delightful main characters who are relatable and have very real flaws. We also get to visit several Hope Harbor favorites, including bickering priests, an adorable seagull couple named Floyd and Gladys, the chocolate-baking Eleanor, and Charley, the ever wise taco guy.
As always, Hannon will put a smile on your face and a flutter in your heart, as well as offer you some great themes, like starting a new chapter in life and being open to new possibilities; searching for a new direction; dealing with worry and what-ifs (“Trouble is, if you live your life what-iffing and worrying, you’re going to spend half of it on the sidelines”); no one is perfect and we can all learn from our mistakes; and overcoming grief.
You could definitely read “Sandcastle Inn,” which is due out April 2, as a standalone, but I would strongly encourage you to go ahead and read the other stories in the series. The 11th book is due out in April 2025.
Five stars out of five.
Revell provided this complimentary copy through NetGalley for my honest, unbiased review.
“As comedian Lily Tomlin once said, the trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat. Present company excluded.”
I absolutely adore Irene Hannon's Hope Harbor series so I was quite happy to see this book. I was especially happy to see Taco Charlie back as he is my favorite character. He always seems to know how and what's going on with each character. I have always felt like he was an angel sent from God to give wisdom and to help heal which ever character is hurting at the moment.
This is why he's my favorite character
I also liked Vienna and her mom. Especially her mom who has a free spirit. I wished I had that.
I adore the setting of this book and was I ever happy to return to Hope Harbor. It's an amazing place where one can relax and be themselves.
I finished this darling book in one evening. I wanted to see what happened between Vienna and her Mom. They're quite the pair!
Vienna does have a point though. We can't help in being who we are. We are each different people and have different paths. Wow! Spot on! She had it right!
Believe me, I didn't want to leave this place when this book ended. I was sad.
I live this fictional town and it's people. They're like family to me. I was also happy to see some wonderful returning characters too.
5 stars for this wonderful book that I got lost in for one whole evening without leaving the comfort of my home. I hope that she keeps Hope Harbor coming!
I highly recommend this book.
My thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Sandcastle Inn, is a feel good romance novel. It's got a couple of peoples story going at the same time. A couple that are married and the trials that they deal with and overcome together. They the new relationship that took the whole book to form. I would have liked that part to go a little faster so we could have seen them together instead of at the ending them finally agreeing to make a go of it and only the epilogue to get their happy ever after.
Hope Harbor, a magical place where dreams and love live.
Vienna Price worked at a high end boutique hotel, until her position was eliminated. She decides to visit her mother in Hope Harbor to regroup before looking for another job.
Grieving widower Matt Quinn comes to Hope Harbor to help his sister who has bought a run down B&B while she travels out of town to help a friend recover from surgery. It doesn't take long when Matt realizes that Kay has bitten off more than she could chew. Matt isn't going to get the R&R that he needs to recover and heal from his losses. He soon acquires the help of Vienna to restructure the Sandcastle Inn and get it back operational.
This story is built on the Hope Harbor series but is stand alone. Charley and his Taco stand are still in the midst of advising his customers. Paige and Andrew Thompson add a wonderful element in the rebuilding of the Inn. The lives of the four characters connect to learn valuable lessons about hope in the midst of tragedy. As romance blossoms between Matt and Vienna, they learn to take leaps out of their comfort zones.
This is a delightful clean read. Irene Hannon always writes a good story. Her stories are heartwarming, well crafted and charming.
I received a complimentary ebook copy from the publisher, through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
In Irene Hannon's captivating novel, "Sandcastle Inn," Vienna Price and Matt Quinn find themselves drawn back to their past in Hope Harbor, Oregon, each carrying their own burdens. Vienna, after a failed career, seeks solace in her childhood home, while Matt, grieving a personal loss, seeks respite in the tranquility of the seaside town. Both Vienna and Matt are initially reluctant to stay long term, knowing that their past experiences and differences could potentially clash. However, circumstances conspire to bring them together, as Matt's sister's struggling B&B is in dire need of Vienna's expertise. As Vienna reluctantly agrees to help, she and Matt embark on a journey of not only restoring the inn but also mending their own hearts. Along the way, they discover hidden strengths and shared passions, leading them to question their initial reservations about staying in Hope Harbor. Through their collective efforts, they breathe new life into the Sandcastle Inn, transforming it into a symbol of hope and renewal, both for themselves and for the community.
BEAUTIFUL RESTORATION STORY
Sandcastle Inn (Hope Harbor Book #10) by Irene Hannon is a beautiful restoration story. What I like best about this book is that Hannon has created relatable characters because she writes them as flawed people at major turning points in their lives. Hannon provides a plot that allows the characters of Vienna and Matt to meet, and each has their own set of problems. Will it be possible for the struggling Sandcastle Inn to be the common factor to solve their problems? Hannon shows how God works through all things while these two work to restore the Inn. He provides soul restoration and allows these two to draw closer to Him and each other. I highly recommend this excellent book!
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own and without influence.
Sandcastle Inn is part of Irene Hannon's Hope Harbor series. Although it is a series, it can also stand alone.
This book talks about a small Oregon town called Hope Harbor and focuses on a sweet romance between a veternarian and a woman who just lost her job. Watching their relationship bloom throughout this story, was enjoyable.
If you want to read a clean christian romance and a nice story with relatable characters, you will love it!
I plan to go back and read some of this author’s other novels about Hope Harbor.
I received a free copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.
I'm a newcomer to Irene Hannon's Hope Harbor series, and actually, the last title Windswept Way was my first experience with one of these titles. I wholeheartedly enjoyed that one, and loved how idyllic and charming the town was, while the story still hit on a few deeper issues. When I saw there was a new book in the series coming out, I couldn't wait to give another of her beautiful small town romances a try. This one was every bit as good as the last one was, and left me thinking about it long after I finished it.
Hope Harbor's residents are part of what make the town and the stories so appealing, and it was lovely to get another visit with Charley, Bev and the hilarious clergy tasked with helping all of the town with their spiritual needs. Sandcastle Inn introduces us to several new characters, with Matt and Vienna being the main couple, and Andrew and Paige having a lovely side story all their own. Matt comes to town to help take care of his sister's struggling bed and breakfast while she's called away to help a friend. He's nowhere prepared for the amount of the work the inn needs, and that puts him into contact with Vienna, Andrew and Paige. He can't deny the sparks are flying between him and Vienna, but his past has left me incapable of moving on into the future. Can the two make their own way into happily ever after, all while trying to launch a successful idyllic inn?
With a swoon worthy romance, a wonderful setting, and a realistic portrayal of the way grief can affect every single area of someone's life, I loved my second visit to Hope Harbor, and I appreciated that this one could definitely be read as a stand alone. While I adored Matt and Vienna's story, I have to say that it was Andrew and Paige's that made this one a true winner in my eyes. Without spoiling anything, I have to say that I loved the emphasis on what it truly means to promise for better or for worse, and I adored how fiercely they cared for each other and everyone around them.
Another beautiful contemporary from Irene Hannon, and one that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a heartwarming clean romance that has a light faith element.
Final Rating: 4/5.
Thanks so much to Revell for allowing me to advance read and review this title!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher (Revell) via NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.
Such a sweet love story. Full of romance, healing, growth, faith. The authors description of the scenery and the characters emotions makes you feel as if you are there with them. I highly recommend this book.
Visiting Hope Harbor in one of Irene Hannon's books always lifts my spirits. It's a place where characters visit and find a place for themselves. Even though Vienna Price put her heart and soul in her work at a boutique hotel chain, she lost her job in a reorganization. She is in town to visit her mother before she starts her job search. Grieving widower Matt Quinn is in town to oversee his sister's small hotel while she returns to their hometown to care for a sick family friend. He finds that the hotel needs lots of work and has no guests. Matt isn't going to get the rest and relaxation that his veterinarian partner thinks that he needs. Between Matt, Vienna, and a carpenter Andrew and his wife Paige, they will try to get the hotel back on its feet. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I love the addition of the secondary young couple Andrew and Paige who stay and work together as their resources dwindle. I am so glad that Matt took a chance on them. As usual, Charlie, his fish tacos, Floyd, and Gladys add to the story. I especially love seeing the evolution of Matt and Vienna. This is a wonderful story and romance that will lift your spirits.
Sandcastle Inn is the 10th book in the Hope Harbor series. While fans of the series will enjoy seeing some familiar places and characters (like Charlie and his pelican friends), this can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone if it's your first visit... or if you missed a few along the way.
When I pick up a book in the Hope Harbor series, I know that not only am I going to get a super sweet love story... but that it's also going to leave me feeling hopeful as well. This was absolutely no exception. In this book, we meet Matt and Vienna, both who have recently come to Hope Harbor for a brief stay. Her to visit her mom while she figures out some things after her career goes downhill and him to decompress and help his sister with the B&B she purchased. He quickly learns there's a lot more work needed than he realized, and he brings in Vienna to help him fix it up... along with another down on their luck couple who needed some respite too. All of these characters have things that they are healing from, and I loved the story's overall message of healing and second chances, which we see through not just Matt and Vienna's romance, but through other characters in the story too. Hope Harbor is the perfect place for those who need some healing and this story really depicted that very well. I enjoyed it very much and find myself looking forward to the next visit.
If you enjoy a beautiful love story with light Christian content that will leave you feeling hopeful, this is definitely one to check out.
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All opinions are my own.
That does it! I'm officially moving to the magical, small town of Hope Harbor, Oregon—with its quaint coffee shops, tasty restaurants, a Bohemian vibish bookstore, gorgeous secluded beaches, and even a delicious taco stand! Anyone care to go with me?
The malodorous meet-cute between the two main characters was less than romantic to be sure, but who knew Matt Quinn would clean up so well?...certainly not Vienna Price! The two put their heads together to restore a floundering B&B in a limited amount of time...Matt, however, has a successful veterinarian practice in CA and Vienna a lucrative career in Denver and a month's R&R is all they can spare to regroup. But the peaceful, small-town allure of Hope Harbor has a way of digging its hooks in and not letting go.
Filled with charming, wise characters such as Charlie, the master taco maker, Vienna's mother, Bev, and the bantering priest and minister whose quips are sure to bring a smile, Hope Harbor is a refuge of healing for hurting souls. Be sure to book a room in the Sandcastle Inn for a visit—you may not want to leave!

Sandcastle Inn
by Irene Hannon
Pub Date: April 2, 2024
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Sandcastle Inn is part of Irene Hannon's Hope Harbor series. It can be read alone but for readers of the other books in the series the reoccurring characters is nice.
This is a great book that invites you in to a sweet community, one that you will want to visit many times on the page and one you wish you could visit in real life. The romance is very sweet. It does not have an abundant amount of miscommunication as is prevalent in many romance books. As always with Irene Hannon, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this book. The faith content is there but it is on the lighter side. I have read other books in this series and I wish that Charley had a larger role in this book. He is the glue that holds the series together. His role was underplayed, almost to the point of being non-existent.
I recommend this book to those of you who like Christian Fiction or a continuing saga in a small town.
