Sandcastle Inn is part of Irene Hannon's Hope Harbor series. It can be read alone but for readers of the other books in the series the reoccurring characters is nice.
Reading a book in this series always feels like going home and I know I'm going to be left with a warm and fuzzy feeling when I'm done. This novel follows Matt, a veterinarian, who is in town to help his sister get ready the inn that she has purchased and Vienna, who just lost her job and is taking a break to be near her mother who lives in the town. Vienna finds herself staying at the inn Matt is helping with and uses her hotel experience to get it off the ground. Sparks are flying from the get go but both are reluctant to get into a relationship. There's just something about Hope Harbor and their resident taco-artist Charley that can't keep couples apart.
There is also a side story about a down on their luck couple, Andrew and Paige, who also help out with the inn.
This is a really enjoyable book. It's a super light read that leaves you with happy feelings. It is very heartfelt and does have some Christian themes.
A wonderful story filled with real life hope and tragedy. A huge reminder about the importance of family and community.
The Hope Harbor series by Irene Hannon has another wonderful book with this 10th installment. I've read a few of the other books in this series and they've all been very enjoyable. Charlie the "taco artist", Bev the quirky bookstore owner, BJ the female construction worker, two clergy who add some church humor and the rest of this cast of characters in this town make for a fun series.
The main couple in this book are Matt and Vienna. Matt is in town to help his sister, who impulsively bought a seaside inn needs to go out of town to take care of a good friend. Matt is tapped to help fix up the inn with a limited amount of funds. Vienna recently lost her job at an upscale hotel. She doesn't want to stay with her mother in a 1 bedroom apartment so meets up with Matt hoping to exchange room and board for knowledge on turning the inn around.
Enter another couple, Paige and Andrew who are down on their luck. Andrew just might have the skills Matt and Vienna need to fix the inn up before money runs out. Will all 4 of these individuals find the hope they need in Hope Harbor??
I really enjoyed this book for it's clean romance, light Christian content and good story. The main characters have had some major struggles in their lives and the author does a great job of showing the character growth out of those struggles into moving on in life and seeking joy after some of the darkest times. I liked how the book also featured C.S. Lewis's book "A Grief Observed" which was very fitting for one of the characters.
Thank you to Revell fiction and Netgalley for the chance to read this ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
Reading a book by Irene Hannon is a warm, cozy, heartwarming experience. This is book #10 of the Hope Harbor series. Each book introduces new characters; however, previous characters of this series pop up in the delightful small town of Hope Harbor. It is the feeling of coming home. Any of these charming books can be read as a standalone, however I strongly recommend reading them all.
Matt Quin takes several weeks off from his veterinary practice to go the Hope Harbor to help his sister Kay, who recently bought a Bed & Breakfast, unfortunately without much due diligence. Kay is going to Boise to stay with a close family friend who will be having surgery. Matt is left in charge of having the B&B updated so it can be open for business. Kay has already invested nearly all her money into the B&B with little return and now some big repairs and updating are in order. Matt, who is dealing with circumstances in his past that are out of his control, but still weighing heavily on him is concerned whether he is up to overseeing the complete renovation of the B&B.
Vienna Price’s carefully planned out life is derailed when she loses her executive position at a prestigious, luxury hotel in Denver. Now she is in Hope Harbor for a long overdue visit with her mother. They are totally opposites, while Vienna plans out every detail of her life carefully, her mother basically flies by the seat of her pants. After giving up a stable job of thirty years, she has moved to Hope Harbor and opens a book store, “Bev’s Book Nook.”
There are some surprising, heartfelt situations that arise, as well as discovering how differences in personalities can actually enhance relationships. Painful circumstances are finally spoken about, resulting in healing. I was happy to find Charley and his famous fish tacos back in Hope Harbor.
This is another beautifully written, captivating, heartwarming story with unforgettable, lovable characters. I never hesitate to recommend a book by Irene Hannon because I know it will be wholesome, inspirational, and nearly impossible to put down.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.
Irene Hannon transports us back to idyllic Hope Harbor, the small town full of hope, acceptance, and love. We get the chance to reconnect with Charlie as he dishes out wise advice and delicious fish tacos while meeting several newcomers to the quaint town.
Vienna Price finds herself searching after the loss of her job. This leads her back to the town her mother, Bev, has retired to that they visited when Vienna was younger. Vienna plans on this being a brief visit to collect herself after such life altering event. Her path crosses with Matt Quinn who is in town to help his sister with her BnB as well as Paige and Andrew who are new to town.
The lives of these four strangers connecting teaches us invaluable lessons about second chances, forgiveness, and family. Hannon’s mastery with words make the story come to life right off the page with its great detail and emotion. Reading a Hope Harbor story gives you the feeling of going home. The stories never disappoint and particularly this story really touched me. I absolutely love this series and this was one of my favorites!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are completely my own.
This was an enjoyable book, but it has its drawbacks. Irene Hannon has written a series taking place in the fictional seaside town of Hope Harbor.
Matt's sister, Kay, has bought a Bed and Breakfast Inn that needs a lot of work to put it in usable order. Vienna is visiting her mother and offers her skills as developer for inns and hotels in lieu of room and board at the end. Matt finds a contractor who needs work and part of his pay is a room for the contractor and his wife.
Much of the book deals with refurbishing the Inn and setting it up as a high-end romantic getaway rather than the interpersonal relationships. The romance between Matt and Vienna really didn't develop through the vast majority of the book. It wasn't until the latter portions of the book that romance bloomed. I have read other books in this series and I wish that Charley had a larger role in this book. He is the glue that holds the series together. His role was underplayed, almost to the point of being non-existent.
This is a four star book that doesn't reach the same heights as the other books in this series. Pretty soon, though, Irene will have the whole town of Hope Harbor populated and developed.
Revell Publishing provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
Thank you to Netgalley and Revell Publishers for providing me the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this novel.
Matt comes to the charming town of Hope Harbor, OR to help his sister out and get a little R & R so he can finally work through the huge amount of grief he has been dealing with. What he finds is the inn his sister had purchased needed a great deal of work. He makes a plan to help her. Vienna comes to town to visit her mother and rest after being laid off from her big time position with a boutique hotel company. Through unforeseen circumstances they meet. Together they form a plan to rehab the inn. Along the way they are joined by a skilled carpenter and his wife who are down on their luck. Together they created a beautiful place. Along the way Matt and Vienna start to fall for each other. As with all the Hope Harbor books we are joined by a cast of quirky characters, some new and some old. Hope Harbor once again is a place of refuge for weary people.
This is a great book that invites you in to a sweet community, one that you will want to visit many times on the page and one you wish you could visit in real life. The romance is very sweet. It does not have an abundant amount of miscommunication as is prevalent in many romance books. As always with Irene Hannon, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this book. The faith content is there but it is on the lighter side. There were a couple of things said that were just a tad off color. I could have done without those incidents but there were no scenes that were inappropriate for a Christian Fiction book.
I would recommend this book to people looking for clean, sweet romances that feature communities of great characters. If lighter faith and scenes that border on off color bother you, then this would not be the book for you.
I was excited to find out Irene Hannon was releasing a tenth installment to her beloved Hope Harbor series and was honored to have the opportunity to read it. I adored Vienna and Matt's story. They had wonderful chemistry together. I wanted to see how it would end for the two of them and what decisions they make for themselves. I thought this was a great read and is now my favorite of this series.
I would give Sandcastle Inn more than five stars if I could. I highly recommend it for those who love to read clean romantic fiction with a beautiful setting. As always, I will be looking forward to more books to release from Irene Hannon in the future.
I received Irene Hannon's Sandcastle Inn from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
I have been with this series and love the characters. The Catholic priest and the Reverend teeing off. Charley’s delicious tacos and free advice and so many more characters living who God created them to be.
The main characters are united at an Inn where an extreme makeover is needed. The storyline does not shy away from the hard realities of life. Past loss and trauma are real.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. My opinions are my own.
Irene Hannon’s latest book in her Hope Harbor series is a well-crafted and charming story of people who need each other, but they just don’t know it yet. The characters are believable and delightful to get to know, especially Paige and Andrew, a couple down on their luck after a business failure. They are secondary characters but they were my favorites because of Paige’s optimism and her belief that Andrew can still succeed if he is willing to try. Of course, I was immediately drawn into the story of Matt and Vienna, the protagonists. Matt has suffered a devastating loss in his life and is not looking for love while Vienna has just lost her career and is looking for a place to land. All of these exceptional characters end up in Hope Harbor, the little town where dreams become reality and anything can happen. This is a sweet portrayal of family, drama, and developing love, all presented with a depth of emotion and realism that made it a warmhearted and satisfying addition to the series. The characters were easy to cheer for and the scenic setting of a little town with all of its charm and a few quirky characters made the story dance into my heart as it unfolded. There are a few conflicts in this carefully plotted story, but the characters all worked well together towards the happy ending that I so enjoy. I cannot review a Hope Harbor book without mentioning Charlie and his taco stand. Charlie is back again, offering wisdom and even a timely book for Matt to read. The characters, the plot and the setting all combine to make a delightfully satisfying romance with a foundation of faith, hope and family at its core. This book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone, but I would not miss a single visit to the little town of Hope Harbor and all of the emotional depth that the author so realistically and expertly portrays.

Another wonderful novel set in Hope Harbor. An emotional novel of second chances. I loved revisiting Charlie and his seagull friends. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more in this series.
It was great to be back in Hope Harbour. This follows four people down on their luck, all arriving in Hope Harbour in need of fresh starts and new beginnings. Hope Harbour provides all that and more.
Our main characters are Vienna and Matt. Vienna has lost her job and is visiting her mum who made a fresh start in Hope Harbour several years ago. Matt is visiting his sister whilst on a break from work to help her run her inn, which turns out to be crumbling around her. Vienna and Matt team up to turn the place around, aided by Paige and Andrew a couple in desperate need of a work and a second chance.
I loved seeing how everything was woven together. This book contains storylines of healed family relationships, second chances, career changes, grief, love and finding hope again.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for a free ebook in exchange for a honest review.
I never pass up the opportunity to visit Irene Hannon’s Hope Harbor! She has created a magical place where friends become family.
And the beautiful location is place so appealing it makes me want to visit Oregon. I enjoyed the interesting career of Vienna in this story and the back story of Matt that was not revealed until later in the story which felt like the right time. The side story of Paige and Andrew gave this book more depth with lessons in family and forgiveness. I enjoyed them. I would have liked to have seen more time given the building up of Matt and Venice’s relationship though.
And I am really hoping to maybe see a Charlie and Bev relationship down the road.
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Vienna never thought she would be in the position that she in. She decides to visit her mom. She enjoys the quaint town and meets Matt who is helping his sister. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read her next one.
Sandcastle Inn brings us back to Hope Harbor, a town with heart offering a place for many new residents to heal. Vienna and Matt, Andrew and Paige, each with past secrets and regrets. Who doesn’t love advice from Charley as they order food at his taco truck. With some providential guidance, their paths cross and lives turn around for the better. Hope and faith lead to healing past hurts, adversity, and grief. There is forgiveness and second chances to renew relationships, bringing the healing process full circle. And I love Floyd and Gladys, two seagulls with fun-loving personalities. This is a great book with wonderful characters and well worth the read!
Hope Harbor book #10
This cute story of second chance brings warmth to the heart. Good people doing wonderful things to other without asking anything back. “Sandcastle Inn” will show us how this is possible.
Vienna Price returns for a passing visit home to Oregon after her career tanks she is there to nurse her wounds and chart a new course for the future. Matt Quinn on vacation takes a trip to Oregon to help his sister who has recently bought a dilapidated inn. Vienna and Matt cross path and luck is on his side, Vienna has just the skills to help him resuscitate the B&B....and find all the help they needed....and slowly they fall for each other....awe....
I enjoyed this fiction and how the characters matched so well. The atmosphere created is wonderful I wish this town wasn’t fictional I would like to meet the residents, of course these people are to idyllic to be real but one can dream. Through the pages we discover Matt’s tragic past and Vienna skills and how resourceful she is. The project brings in a wonderful couple Paige and Andrew who had lost everything and will do anything to start their lives again and getting a job as contractors at the Inn was a dream come true. For Vienna, Matt, Paige and Andrew all they needed was a second chance and Hope Harbor was there to help. This story keeps a slow and steady pace and is said with clean and active language.
And love is in the air......What a wonderful story, well- said and well-done.
I love visiting Hope Harbor with Irene Hannon. Every book in the series has been an enjoyable read, including Sandcastle Inn. Vienna is there visiting her mom, Bev, the owner of the bookstore. Vienna has been a workaholic, trying to build her professional life. Matt came to Hope Harbor to help his sister restore an inn. As their stories twist together, secrets are unveiled and hearts changed. I always love seeing Charley and his seagull friends and revisiting the places and people of this charming town. Hannon is a gifted writer, and I'm happy she's continued this wonderful series. I hear there's another one coming next year. I received a free copy. Opinions are my own..
Coming back to Hope Harbour is like a warm hug. We are visiting for the tenth time and there's something new every visit. Both main characters had interesting backstories that they needed to overcome to reach their happily ever after - the inn feels like a character that symbolises the characters inner transformation.
I dearly loved encountering old friends such as Charley, the Reverends, the seagulls and previous heroines/heros. The side characters also have interesting stories. They could have made a whole book by themselves but it was great to meet them in this book. I'm eagerly awaiting book 11.
I receive complimentary books for various sources including, Netgalley, Authors, and other such sources. I am not required to write a positive review and have not received compensation.
Sandcastle Inn is a well written romance. I throughly enjoyed the plot and the believable characters. I recommend reading this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
It was wonderful to be back in Hope Harbor. Several characters with major family and work issues. The tale pulls on the heart strings and causes one to think about similar problems. Fun to see how all of the characters get to know one another and end up with their happily ever after. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary. Happy to see that another Hope Harbor story will be coming out. Lovely location thanks to Irene Hannon's words.
