WOW!! a book to blow your mind so twisted right through.
Beth Williams, her ex husband, her new son in law, her pregnant daughter.
Luke Griffin and Cerys are moving in living in her cabin at the family farm house Pen-y-Bryn out of work and a baby on the way it's nearly Christmas she couldn't say no and didn't trust him she needs to keep an eye on Cerys.
At first I really though this was going to be a complicated psychological thriller, and oh boy I was so wrong, so twisted with gruesome well plotted chapters from this author with more tumbling out the woodworks in every chapter from all these characters, unputdownable right through for me. I LOVED IT!

"The Son-in-Law" is a domestic psychological suspense novel that delves into the complexities of family relationships and secrets. The story follows a mother who is faced with the shocking revelation that her daughter's new husband is her ex-husband. The story is filled with tension, twists, and emotional turmoil, making it an interesting read for fans of domestic psychological suspense.
An absolute page turner from the first page until the last!
Thank you #JoffeBooks and #NetGalley for an E-ARC of #THESONINLAW
Really not a likeable son-in-law in any manner and unfortunately, the story line moved along at a stricken pace for me. None of the characters jumped off the pages at me and actually, they all seemed rather predictable from first introduction. In actuality, you can get the direction they are moving in with not too much thought about it,
I found the pace good but the characters behavior too typical and not intriguing in any manner.
The plot dragged a little but did have twists that were a surprise and peaked interest.
All in all, it was just okay for me/
The premise of this novel was so scandalous and thrilling. I found myself turning page after page without wanting to stop until I figured out the connections between characters. Delightful read, will be recommending two friends and family!
"The Son-in-Law" is a riveting psychological suspense novel that delves into the complexities of family relationships and secrets. The story follows a mother who is faced with the shocking revelation that her daughter's new husband is none other than her ex-husband. The narrative is filled with tension, twists, and emotional turmoil, making it an engaging read for fans of the genre.
The characters are well-crafted, and their emotions and motivations are explored in depth. The protagonist, a protective mother who is determined to safeguard her daughter from a man who once shattered her own heart, is a relatable and compelling character. The author skillfully portrays the inner conflicts and dilemmas faced by the characters, adding depth to the story.
The plot is full of unexpected surprises and suspenseful moments that keep readers hooked. The pacing is well-managed, gradually building the tension and anticipation as the story unfolds. The narrative keeps you guessing, and the revelations are both shocking and thought-provoking.
While the story is gripping and emotionally charged, there are instances where the characters' actions and decisions may seem overly dramatic or implausible. However, this adds to the overall intensity of the plot.
I recommend!
I'm afraid I struggled with this book,I put it down a few times and kept going back but,I disliked all the characters so couldn't engage in the storyline, I really don't like not finishing a book once I start so did read till the end but it wasn't for me.
Thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for the ARC.

Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for an early copy of The Son-In-Law.
I did want to love this book. BUT, It was just over the top in so many ways. I never read a concept like this, but it was not really believable or entertaining.
Well, what have we here? A book about a daughter marrying her mothers’ ex-husband, and a couple entering a house on the cover. The blurb tells us only a little and for me, this combination felt as if it would be a ‘light mystery’ as I call them. I compared this with titles from e.g. Miranda Rijks and Daniel Hurst. Books that follow a certain pattern, are easy to read and sometimes have real surprises in the story.
Not this! This book appeared to be a real rollercoaster and not at all ‘light reading’. It all starts when Beth, a middle aged Welsh farmer, sees the arrival of her beautiful young daughter Cerys with her new husband Luke. On top of this, Cerys is pregnant with this child and they come to live with Beth in the holiday home on the farm. How this came to be is very carefully told in the voices of Cerys and Beth, alternated over the chapters. There are a few more characters in this story, like Bryn, a neighbouring farmer, and another ex-wife of Luke. There is also a lot of background in this story: Beth still struggles with the dead of her husband, eleven years ago, and Cerys still misses him immensely too. Bryn lost his wife and his child under strange circumstances and there is a strange tension between Beth and Bryn.
Needless to say Luke is not the charming, loving man Cerys is hoping for. Well, he’s been for the past half year, but now they’ve arrived at Beth’s he’s more and more showing his true intentions. Intentions that are even more strange than you would expect.
I just couldn’t stop reading! For a big part this is also because the story is set in a part of Wales that I got to know quite well. I’ve spend long weeks of wonderful holidays in the Brecon Becons and have fond memories of visits to Aberystwyth, Crickhowell and other places. If its possible to be homesick after a place were you never actually lived, just visited, than is that what I’m feeling. The beautiful (for want of a stronger word) mountains and the beautiful scenery are an added bonus to this great story.
Thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for this review copy.
Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for an early copy of The Son-In-Law. The cover was Awesome but I asked myself many times throughout the book, why am I still reading this? It was ridiculous from the get go, too many childish and unbelievable scenarios. I have to admit it did get better after what happened with Luke. The book took an interesting twist that I wish would have happened way before it did. Lots of shocks about Beth, lots of them. All in all if you can get past the ludicrous plot, it’s a quick read.
I really enjoyed this physiological thriller. It had twists that I wasn't expecting.
I warmed to the characters and felt for both Beth and Cerys but particularly loved the two sides to Beth.
Great read.
I selected this book in the read now section on NetGalley solely for the cover. The drama…THE DRAMA! 😂 Very twisty book. The daughter got on my nerves, but very good thriller-esque Book.
OMG!!!!! Now this was a domestic noir! I was quite invested from the start since the writing style just flowed really well and it had a good pace and then the 1st bombshell is dropped and my jaw hit the ground! And there were just twist after twist, it really is amazing. Really original, stands out from most of the other thrillers I've read recently. The characters are well written, even if the daughter is a complete fool but she's also young so fair enough lol. Just..... an amazing read
I really tried to read this book. It sounded so I threshing but I couldn't get into it. I ended jumping to the last few chapters. The ending was interesting, but it didn't make me want to read the whole book.
The Son in Law is a psychological/domestic thriller. It was pretty fast paced, but some of the book was hard to get through.
The characters were all pretty unlikeable, but in a good way. There was a good amount of mystery and suspense and for the most part it kept me reading.
I could not get enough of this book!! What a story! So many twists and turns, every time you thought you had the story sussed, there would be another. Amazing must read!!
Good book!! I was pleasantly surprised at this book! I don't know why but I thought it was going to be a totally different book! It was very different but in a great way!! It had suspense, intrigue, action, big time gas lighting, murder, revenge, kidnapping, you name it this book had it lol the characters were well liked , strong woman, except the daughter she bugged me at times she was a bit naive and a spoiled brat! But by the end she kind of grew up I guess I would say?! Anyway great book! The storyline was very interesting and definitely kept me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
I couldn't NOT read this. I mean this is some American stuff but it takes place on an idyllic UK farm. Beth is both widowed and divorced. Her last husband never met her young adult daughter. The daughter did not want to meet the man who "replaced" daddy.
Cerys is the daughter and she's met the man now. Has she ever! She's married to him and pregnant with his baby. And he is unemployed so they've moved back to Mam's farm to stay with her.
OMG can you even imagine. No man has ever had the audacity of this guy, He is 50 and unemployed!
I couldn't put this down. Is it a good book? I don't know. I will tell you that I couldn't look away. This was a train wreck and I was staring it at.
I was cringing so hard each time we got the daughter's perspective. She is so naive and ridiculous and young!
And beth can't just be like "no you can't live here!" which I say regularly to my daughter when she wants to bring a boyfriend to live in my house. She just keeps giving in! It is insane.
Literally you have to read this. It is awful and wonderful and SO full of drama.
As someone else said in this book.....what a family! I'm sorry but this was just beyond ridiculous. The daughter marries her mothers ex husband, becomes pregnant and then they all move into the mothers house? None of the characters were likeable. Lots of secrets which for me became quite obvious. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy but sadly this was not for me.
Oh this book was just too much for me and I DNF. A daughter married to her mother’s ex-husband and they are all living in the same house.
