found myself constantly surprised by the plot twists; the book was so gripping that I couldn't stop turning the pages.
Obsession, manipulation and lies are the order of the day in this brilliant book.
Angela Henry has crafted an intricate plot with plenty of twists and red herrings, which kept me reading and in fact, I finished the book in an evening!
The story is told from the POV of Paige and her husband Aaron, with the timeline switching between the time before and after the disappearance of Aaron’s former mistress, Dr Cara Morton. We also get an insight into Cara’s childhood.
The characterisation was excellent with every character having a key part in the story; no boring or irrelevant fillers, just a fast paced and gripping story that kept me guessing.
4.5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Angela He et and Storm, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Let me just say, every time I thought I figured out what was going on, I was wrong! The book had me flipping the pages I couldn't put it down. There were some parts in the middle that felt a little too unrealistic for me and some parts seemed to drag a little, but the ending was great. It was a great psychological thriller overall.
This book was not really for me,the writing was good but I found it a bit confusing and didn’t really have an interest in all the faculty talk,I did however like the idea of the character going and buying the contents of lock ups etc, that was fascinating….as say well written and some goof twists
This was a suspenseful journey through the complexities of relationships, secrets and the consequences of desire. Our FMC Paige finds herself caught in a web of doubt and intrigue when she suspects that her husband is having an affair with the glamorous Cara Morton. You can feel the tension that Paige is going through and the emotions that she is experiencing after discovering her husband's possible infidelity. Then a bombshell accusation is dropped concerning her husband and threatens his professional life but Paige remains steadfast by his side.
The exploration of secrets within a marriage, coupled with the questions of whether her husband is capable of murder, adds a gripping element to the narrative. This was hard to put down because I was so invested in the story that I had to know what happened next.
4/5 stars
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Paige is married to Aaron. Aaron is having an affair with Cara, another professor at his college. Now Cara is missing. Cara isn't all there. She has issues and a few sketchy things that she has done as well
Terri is down on her luck. She buys auctioned containers hoping to find things left behind to sell. In this container, she has found a 1st edition book and a body. She doesn't want to have to leave the book behind. She needs to sell it to get cash. So she doesn't say anything about the body found
Paige wants Aaron to end this relationship with Cara at all costs, no matter the cost
Aaron just might do anything to get his family back
Is Aaron a murderer or does his wife have as many secrets to hide as he does
Paige realizes that her college professor husband is having an affair with his colleague and he promises to break it off. When he does, his mistress makes an accusation that threatens to ruin his career as well as his marriage. His mistress then suddenly disappears and Paige doesn't know whether he is capable of murder as the cops believe. So many twists and turns. You just don't know what will be revealed next.
The Perfect Affair is about an affair that is anything but perfect. Aaron is a professor at a local college with twin children and a wife who also works, so life is busy. When an attractive younger colleague pays him flattering attention, he begins an affair. But all is not as it seems. These are deeply flawed people with damaging pasts. Cara, the other woman, hides her flaws, but when Aaron tries to end the affair, she shows her true self.
The further I read in this book, the more I was hooked. It is disturbing and fascinating at the same time. And the ending was a real twist.

Thank you to netgalley and storm publishing for the oppurtunity to read this book by Angela Henry.
This is my first read from this author, and it definitely wont be the last. Ive been in a bit of a reading slump recently but this book i just genuinely couldn't put it down, it had me hooked the whole way through.
I really liked the characters within this book, and i didnt guess how it was going to end.
I would definitely recommend this if your are into thrillers. It kept me reading, and i didnt want to put it down. 100% worth a read
Aaron, a newly-promoted college professor, starts a romance with his beautiful new colleague, Cara. When Cara disappears, Aaron is the prime suspect in her disappearance. The story is told in flashbacks and present time, from the perspective of Aaron, his wife Paige, and Detective Alfonso, who is convinced that Aaron is guilty.
Aaron and Paige are separately trying to find evidence to prove Aaron's innocence, talking to everyone around the small town who has connections or history with Cara and her family.
OK for a beach read.
A well written mystery is a satisfying day for the little brain cells. This is my first read of Angela Henry and I must say that I am left impressed.
Aaron and Paige Nichols are a married couple with marital problems and Aaron is stepping out on her. He meets Cara Morton whose younger age and vibrancy gets him attracted to her. The story really starts unfolding when Cara Morton disappears and the story goes back and forth in time trying to fit the pieces.
The story is told in dual POV's of the couple which makes you think about the events unfolding. Throughout the plot the disappearance of Cara puts the spotlight on the couple at the same time also showing the relationship between Cara and Aaron. The writing was good though it did lag in a few paces stretching the plotline. The end though gives the reader, a really good mystery novel though the culprit was mostly predicate.
I give this book 4 stars for the seamless flow of timelines and unravelling of the characters.
I just reviewed The Perfect Affair by Angela Henry. #ThePerfectAffair #NetGalley
I really enjoyed reading this book! It was an absolute page-turner! Henry has this knack for crafting a suspenseful narrative that kept me hooked from the get-go. The characters are so well-drawn, and the plot twists? Genius. I love how she weaves mystery and intrigue with a touch of heart. The writing style is engaging, making it one of those books you just can't put down.
When a book gives you that .. just one more page, or just to the end of this chapter.. then you find its 3am and you’re thinking, well that was a ride! Loved this book from start to finish. Plenty of character detail, plot, and just overall a fab read! Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for the arc. Definitely recommend.
That was one hell of a ride!! I love the plot and how it all twists and tangles with all the characters involved. There were a lot, I have to say, but they weren't that hard to follow. The book was very simply written, I love how the timeline switches from before and after with the main protagonists, it leads to what happened to Cara. There was one character that I don't think was necessary but I guess her POV was much needed to throw in some thrill and confusion, which I think did serve its purpose. Of course, there were times I wanted to reach in there and strangle the protagonist for his poor decisions but it made sense in real life, so that was forgivable. Overall, very enjoyable. Could easily be ranked up there with McFadden and Feeney's caliber.
This was such an interesting story! I definitely did not see the end coming at all. Lots of details helped me to get to know the characters enough to keep me guessing as to the outcome. This one kept me engaged and trying to read faster to find out how it was going to end. It's always a good book when you keep telling yourself "just one more page'! It took a bit to get into it, but once there, I couldn't put it down. Great book!
I wanted to enjoy this book more than I did, I felt the first half quite slow with a lot of things being repeated. It did speed up and become more engaging during the second half and had some good twists
There were so many twists and turns here I never knew what to expect next! Everytime I thought I had figured it all out there would be another twist and I would be completely wrong - and that almost never happens (usually in mysteries and thrillers the answer is painfully clear but not here!)
I do feel like this was a book of multiple parts, the first third was much slower, much more of an emotional exploration. The middle really ramped things up and it kind of lost me for a while as things became a little bit less realistic and fantastical. The ending was really strong though and hooked me back in.
Alongside the twists and turns, I think the characters were wonderfully complex themselves and I loved seeing the different layers of them unfold. I never really liked or warmed to any of the main characters, but I think that’ intentional and I really enjoyed reading about such nuanced characters. Part of the success of this book was the multiple POVs, and while I usually hate split POV books I’m willing to make an exception here as it added so much depth to see the story unfold in this way. I would say that I don’t think this is the sort of book you can put down and pick up later as there’s quite a lot of interlinking and complex dynamics so I think if you put this down for a week and then went back to it you would probably end up completely lost.
I haven’t read anything from this author before but I will certainly be keeping an eye out in future as this was honestly a brilliant thriller and I still can’t get over how I didn’t see some of the twists coming!
If you’re looking for a suspenseful thriller with a mystery jam packed with twists then this might be the one for you.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an E-ARC
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and could not put it down! The characters were very well drawn and with the plot twists I was definitely hooked. Could not recommend this book more!
This is a great psychological thriller from Angela Henry. As this is the first book I have ever read by this author, I was not sure what to expect. I was not disappointed! The book takes off right from the start and keeps you turning the pages until the end. There were a few parts that got confusing as you had to remember a LOT of details that happened throughout the book. This was the only reason I knocked it down from 5 to 4 stars. While I did enjoy that the ending wrapped up all the characters, I felt it was a little out there. I will say that every time I thought I had things figured out, there was another twist; which I loved!
Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Amazing, amazing, amazing! This is exactly the kind if domestic nojr that I love. It is fast paced, there's constantly things happening and the plot moves forward with such a rapid pace that all you can do is hang on for the ride. The characters, the secrets, the lies, tbe betrayals..... it was all done to perfection! A must read for the domestic noir crowd
