The novel in question is a gripping psychological thriller that masterfully weaves suspense, intrigue, and complex characters into a story that keeps you guessing until the very end.

The protagonist, Paige Nichols, is portrayed with a depth and relatability that draws the reader into her world of uncertainty and suspicion. The dynamics between Paige, her husband Aaron, and his colleague Cara Morton are skillfully developed, creating an atmosphere charged with tension and unspoken accusations.

One of the standout aspects of this novel is its exploration of trust within relationships. Paige's internal struggle as she grapples with her husband's possible infidelity and the subsequent accusation against him is depicted with a raw honesty that is both compelling and heart-wrenching.

Furthermore, the sudden disappearance of Cara Morton adds another layer of mystery, pushing the story into an even darker territory. The author brilliantly uses this event to delve into themes of secrets, lies, and the lengths people will go to protect themselves.

The pacing of the story is perfect, with twists and turns that are unexpected yet completely plausible. The ending is particularly noteworthy for its ability to surprise and satisfy the reader, providing a fitting conclusion to the complex web of events.

This novel is highly recommended for fans of psychological thrillers. Its compelling narrative, well-developed characters, and unexpected plot twists make it a page-turner that is hard to put down. Whether you are a fan of the genre or a newcomer, this book is sure to provide an enthralling and thought-provoking reading experience.

I found the book to be both twisted and entertaining. The pace was consistent, and there was never a dull moment where the plot seemed to be going in circles. While the characters were well-developed, I felt that Paige's personality didn't match her thoughts or actions. However, the ending was filled with the kind of unexpected twists and surprises that thriller enthusiasts crave. Overall, I thought it was a good book, but not the best I've ever read.

I would like to express my gratitude to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

A married college professor, Aaron, is promoted to Department Chair of the English Department. He has befriended a colleague new to the program, Cara Morton, who encourages him in his new position to not be bullied by the other faculty.

Aaron has a wife, Paige, and two kids. Aaron’s demeanor at home changes and Paige puts together that Aaron and Cara have an active relationship. Things take quite a turn when Aaron decides to ends things with Cara to preserve his family.

Cara goes ballistic and not only files a sexual harassment suit with the University but also starts doing malicious acts to Aaron’s family. Shortly following this, Cara disappears.

Did Aaron kill Cara? Did Paige, in an attempt to put the relationship in the past for their family? Or - have past events in Cara’s life culminated to an odd circumstance of events and people?

You’re having an affair and then she goes missing. Presumed dead.
This story is written from different perspectives and the timeline changes between Arrons affair with Cara and his wife Paige finding out.
Aaron is really annoying and I didn’t feel any sympathy for him but without giving anything away you need to stick with it.
Thank you Storm Publishing for an advanced copy of this book.

Mystery and more! Started out a bit slow but I stuck with it and enjoyed the characters and story. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. It didn’t seem like a new plot but rather a popular one just done in the author’s mind.

This is one of those books that leaves us wondering how something as banal (unfortunately) as infidelity in a marriage can become a real hell. How lives can be lost, literally and non-literally, because of one mistake. Paige and Aaron, a couple like any other, with children, are put to the test by the arrival of Cara Morton (who is not who we thinks she is) who turns the couple's life into pure hell. Cara and Aaron get too close and when it is necessary to stop this wrong relationship, it is already too late. However, this is just the tip of a mix of lies and omissions that leave us completely open-mouthed and filled with the desire to read to the end to find out everything. I thought there were some parts that were a bit slow, which could possibly be one of the less good points of this reading, but when everything starts to fit together and make sense, we are satisfied with the final result. I recommend and thank you for the opportunity to have read this ARC.

I really enjoyed this thriller about an affair gone wrong - Aaron and Paige are married but when Paige finds out that Aaron is stepping out on her with his colleague Dr Cara Morton all hell breaks loose. Aaron is kicked out of the house and finds himself at Cara's home only to witness something shocking which makes it seem that Cara isn't the person he thought she was. Aaron promises his wife that he has broken this off with Cara and he moves back home and thus begins a campaign of hate against the couple with Cara the protagonist. How far will Cara go??
I enjoyed the characters and the plot which was fast moving - really enjoyable thriller

I’m a thriller girl and this is the right way to write a thriller. Really reminded me of the perfect marriage by Jeneva Rose which was a five stars for me. The pacing and the plot was perfect and made putting this book down nearly impossible. Affairs, secrets, disappearance- what’s not to love?

Aaron Nichols is promoted to acting chair of the English Department of Roberson University, not an entirely popular choice, but could be handy to some of the faculty. At the same time his wife, Paige, decides she has had enough of nursing and resigns from her nursing post to retrain as a web designer. Whilst all this is happening, there is an undercurrent in the Nichols marriage - is Aaron working too hard in his new role? Is Paige resentful of Aaron’s success? Or is it something to do with Dr Cara Morton, the glamorous new colleague that Aaron has taken a shine to?

I loved the start of this book, though felt it lost its way a little towards the middle where it all became more than a little crazy. Towards the ending was good, and quite unexpected, but the reader really needs to leave all thoughts of common sense well behind and definitely suspend any disbelief! And the epilogue was barking mad!

Far fetched and convoluted though it was, it was still a good, entertaining read, and I look forward to more from this author.

An easy, one sitting read that on the whole kept me entertained.

Every time I thought I had figured it out,I was wrong. This book certainly had me on the edge of my seat. I have mixed feelings about this one,I loved the first one third of the book, the middle half felt a bit far fetched and unrealistic.I felt like the book had gone on for too long, but then it redeemed itself a bit in the last section of the book.Overall I’d recommend it to any psychological thriller book fan.

It was my first time reading a book by this author so I didn’t know what to expect, but this was one hell of a book. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more books of hers.

Dark Deception…
Much ado in this pacy and twisted suspenseful tale of secrets, lies and dark deception but who here, if anyone, is actually telling the truth? Part domestic noir and part suspenseful thriller, comes a fast moving plot with a snappy narrative and populated with a deftly drawn and credible cast of characters with twists that are plentiful and often surprising.

This fast-paced book kept my attention and didn’t let go until the surprising end. The complex plot is a bit unrealistic and too many twists become a bit tiring but suspend disbelief and The Perfect Affair is an engaging read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC.

The Perfect Affair is a book that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat for the whole book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and was not expecting any of the different scenarios that were presented at the end.

The characters are easy to engage with and I felt myself really drawn into the story.

I read this in one sitting and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone interested in thrillers.

This was one hell of a thriller! This is a dual POV with some flashback scenes, and is told via a husband and wife. There is murder (obviously), mental health issues, illness of a parent, and adultery. So much adultery!!! I was honestly kept guessing the entire time, as Angela Henry wove a masterful web in this novel. Some aspects, I was able to figure out, and others, there was no way I was even close. Just when you think everything has finally come together, and every secret has been revealed...just keep reading, because there's more. If you're a thriller fan in any capacity, I would recommend grabbing this one immediately.

3.5⭐This book is a psychological thriller that had me hooked in the beginning. However, the middle part became a little too crazy for my liking. At times, I wanted it to end, but it eventually got interesting again, especially towards the end. The story is well-written and will keep you guessing until the end. Even though I found the identity of the villain to be unrealistic, the book contains a lot of good scenes, including suspense, mystery, family drama, and mental illness. Despite its flaws, it is still a decent read for those who love a good thriller suspense story.

Thank you, NetGalley and Storm Publishing for providing me with the eARC. All opinions are my own.

This was, without a doubt, a twisted psychological thriller. It certainly had me gripped from the start, it was well written, flowed well and i was eager to read it within 2 days. There were lots of characters, all connected in some way, and everyone had their secrets which added to the final conclusion. At one point i was a bit confused who did what and to whom!! Overall it was a good story with an ending I certainly didn’t see coming. It was my first book by this author and i would definitely read more.

Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advanced copy to read in exchange for my open and honest review. As always, my reviews will also be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones and interaction on Facebook and instagram where possible.
