The Perfect Affair by Angela Henry is a suspense that centers around a cheating, lying husband and the secrets surrounding his affair with a colleague.

Here is what you need to know about it:

When Paige Nichols meets her husband’s glamorous new colleague at a faculty mixer, she instantly knows they’re having an affair. It’s the way he looks at her, like she’s the only woman in the world. Aaron used to look at her like that, too. And with her beautiful, knowing smile, Cara Morton seems to enjoy flaunting their romance right under her nose.

Paige believes Aaron when he says he’ll break things off. What else can she do when she’s determined to hold her family together? But then Cara makes a shocking accusation about Aaron that threatens to end his career as a college professor and shatter their barely patched up marriage. Paige stands by her husband, but doubts creep in. Is Cara telling the truth? Or is this all part of her dangerous game?

Then Cara Morton disappears without a trace.

Paige knows her husband can keep secrets. She’s keeping dark secrets of her own. But is he a killer? The police seem to think so. But they don’t know Cara. They don’t know about her past. They don’t know what she’s capable of…

The story kept my interest for the most part, I was turning the pages, curious to see how everything would play out. I always enjoy an academic setting and untrustworthy characters. This is out now!

A riveting thriller that never lets up. Paige suspects her husband Aaron's having an affair with his new colleague Cara. Lies and plenty of twists in this excellent book I couldn't put it down. The characters are hiding secrets and when you think you've worked it out, think again. I received this book from Storm publishing and Netgalley for a review.

I had never read anything by Angela Henry prior to this book. But she will now be at the top of my TBR. This book was great, I had a hard time putting it down. Every time I thought I had something figured out, I was wrong. I love books that make me think, only to prove my thoughts wrong. Get this book. Read it. You will not be disappointed.

My first Angela Henry book but definitely not my last! Such well developed characters that kept me flipping pages long into the night. Well laid out and expertly delivered. So many secrets and lies.
Thank you NetGalley, Angela Henry and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this cracker of a book.

I've not read Angela Henry before, but I will most definitely read her again. It is a great thriller who-done-it with well placed twists that keep changing your mind along the way. Are the main characters likable? Not really, but I don't suppose they are supposed to be. Very often, I figure things out early on, but not in this case. I really didn't see the perpetrator coming. The last chapter? That threw me a bit, and I'm still mulling over how I feel about it. I think it wasn't necessary, but then again, maybe it was to make it even twisted than it already was.

Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

This book had it all…an affair, secrets, a missing character, and a prologue to draw you in. The book was told from different POVs at 2 different points in time; this sounds confusing but the author was able to sort this in a way that made sense to the reader. The build of the story was interesting; however, the end of the story fell flat to me. The end had a lot of moving parts which made it seemed rushed in parts. Overall, this would be another book great for someone new to thrillers or looking to check out the genre.

I absolutely loved this book, it was a five star read for me and if I could have given it more I would of. It is one of those books that you start, then you find you are already half way through and then you realise a big chunk of the day has already gone as you have now finished the book. My elderly mother has been in hospital for the last few weeks so I read this at her bedside which helped pass the time while she was sleeping.

Great characters and a very entertaining story that will keep the reader engaged. I highly recommend you give this one a try. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy, all opinions are my own.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #StormPublushing for the book #ThePerfectAffair by #AngelaHenry. It was the perfect mixture of drama, finger pointing and a pretty big twist ending. First time author and I am interested in reading more of her work.

What a fun book! The tale of Dr. Aaron Nichols and his affair with Dr. Cara Morton takes so many twists and turns that you really must be fully present to read this book. The detail and planning that must have taken the author is astounding. Honestly, every character feels fleshed out, and you get to see them in their good and bad moments. The story does an excellent job of showing the far-reaching effects of an affair (or generations of them!) and details a very cool mystery.
Things came together beautifully from 85%-the end of the book. I love when books treat their audience as the smart people they are! When I got to the end, I found myself thinking of starting the whole book again to see if I missed any clues.

Unfortunately, this book was a miss for me. I felt like there were far too many characters, and it was hard to keep track of who was who, and how they tied in to the story. None of the characters were very likeable, and all the twists and revelations seemed far-fetched and over the top. I appreciate that Angela Henry was trying to knock my socks off; but any seasoned psychological thriller reader will find this read full of tropes and ultimately, predictable.

This book completely sucked me in and had me in a chokehold. I hated Cara so much, but couldn't get enough. I could not put this down. This was told in dual POV with multiple flashback scenes. Just when you think you have everything figured out, just wait... there's more.

Brilliant thriller 👌 full of twists, mystery, and suspense. Every chapter brought new secret. Gripping and intense read. I was on the edge throughout. Pace is fast, with a shocking end. Although every character was morally gray, I couldn’t stop reading. Every one has their own agenda. The affair gone wrong in a devastating way. The perfect affair is highly recommended. I will love to read more by the author. I have both audiobook and eArc and I loved both. Thanks a lot to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the same.

The book had great potential, but overall all felt clunky and flat. The first 20% of the book felt strong - but then it seemed to lose what to book was actually about after that.

It didn't get me invested, it didn't motivate me to first the book to see whodunnit, and it felt like the author thought if they threw in as many curveballs and crazy plot points, the book would be great.

I personally think the book needed more time in the Beta stage to look at the flow and the pacing of the novel. A lot of the time, it was one giant paragraph that could have been split into three or four smaller ones.

The sex scene that was shown was flat, and choppy with the wording. I gave it a .25 spice rating as a warning for a semi-explicit attempt.

By the time I was 50% through the book, I wanted to just finish the book for the sake of finishing.

Thank you NetGalley, Angela Henry and Storm Publishing for providing me with this eARC of The Perfect Affair. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Synopsis: Paige Nichols knows her husband, Aaron, is having an affair with a colleague, Cara. Once confronted, Aaron promises to break things off between them. But, Cara makes an accusation that could potentially end his career as a professor and end his marriage. During this trouble, Paige decides to believe her husband until one day, Cara disappears without a trace. Now Paige’s doubt is creeping in and believes her husband killed Cara.

Ms. Angela Henry, well played my dear, well played. I really enjoyed this story. I loved the unreliable narrator trope in this book. It was jammed pack with so many twists and turns. All of the dirty laundry came out and I’m here for the mess. I love the fact that I was thrown for a loop towards the end and I squealed once we found out the truth of what really happened to Cara.

Due to this story being medium-paced, I would actually love to see this as a tv show or as a movie. I got “A Thin Line Between Love and Hate” vibes starring Martin Lawrence and Lynn Whitfield. (An AMAZING black film might I add 🥰). Normally, I see a lot of authors forget to tie all of their loose ends in books but THIS BOOK, almost ALL of them were tied perfectly.

There are only a few things that I wish were different in this story. I believe that the character, Lynette, was not needed. This was not needed whatsoever. She didn’t bring anything to the story in my opinion except for a headache. Especially when we found out the truth. I also believe that we could’ve done without Detective Alonzo’s POV. I wouldn’t even replace it with another character because I would’ve been fine with just Paige and Aaron’s POV.

Overall, I really enjoyed myself. I was at the edge of my seat in anticipation. I’m looking forward to reading more books by Angela Henry in the future.

Paige and Aaron's marriage is on the rocks. Fighting and arguing constantly. So when Paige meets Aaron's fabulous new coworker, Cara, she instantly knows the two are having affair. The way he looks at her... he used to look at Paige like that when they first met. However, desperate to fix their marriage, Aaron agrees to cut off contact with Cara. This causes her to spiral, threatening Paige, Aaron, and their family and even making up an accusation that could ruin Aaron's job and reputation. If that doesn't make him look terrible, then Cara's random disappearance certainly will. If you are looking for a thriller full of twists and turns, that keeps you guessing till the end of the book, then The Perfect Affair is the story for you!
Unfortunately, I really struggled to get through this story. Although the idea and premise is great, I do not think it was executed correctly. I kept on reading however because I was curious to find out the ending and what actually happened Cara, The multiple POV's and different timelines was quite confusing and I could not keep track of where in the story we were. There were also too many back stories and character connections, I could also not keep track of who knew who and so on. However, this is just my personal preference and if you like different POV's and time changes, and lots of plot twists, then you will enjoy this story.
