Paige and Aaron's marriage is on the rocks. Fighting and arguing constantly. So when Paige meets Aaron's fabulous new coworker, Cara, she instantly knows the two are having affair. The way he looks at her... he used to look at Paige like that when they first met. However, desperate to fix their marriage, Aaron agrees to cut off contact with Cara. This causes her to spiral, threatening Paige, Aaron, and their family and even making up an accusation that could ruin Aaron's job and reputation. If that doesn't make him look terrible, then Cara's random disappearance certainly will. If you are looking for a thriller full of twists and turns, that keeps you guessing till the end of the book, then The Perfect Affair is the story for you!
Unfortunately, I really struggled to get through this story. Although the idea and premise is great, I do not think it was executed correctly. I kept on reading however because I was curious to find out the ending and what actually happened Cara, The multiple POV's and different timelines was quite confusing and I could not keep track of where in the story we were. There were also too many back stories and character connections, I could also not keep track of who knew who and so on. However, this is just my personal preference and if you like different POV's and time changes, and lots of plot twists, then you will enjoy this story.

Aaron, recently promoted to the prestigious role of "head of the local university," takes a plunge into the murky waters of infidelity with his colleague, Cara Morton, right after his wife Paige bids farewell to her job.

The story unfolds through dual POV and timeframes, pulling back the curtains on the clandestine affair and prompting US to question the authenticity of Paige's seemingly affectionate facade.
Regrettably, the narrative loses its initial vigor, spiraling into complexity by introducing a surplus of characters that, to be honest, left me a bit overwhelmed and detached. I struggled to connect emotionally with characters like Aaron, Paige, and Cara. The inclusion of certain plot elements, like the rather coincidental existence of a nursing home, felt downright implausible.

Despite being anchored in the theme of an affair, the book disappointingly falls short on delivering the expected thrills, tension, and suspense. The final revelation hinges heavily on secondary characters, resulting in a somewhat over-the-top resolution that failed to resonate with me. While the mystery itself is passable, the narrative could use a shot of adrenaline with a faster pace and increased tension to keep readers on the edge.

I enjoyed it overall, it was alright. But a little too complicated for my liking.
Big thanks to NetGalley for generously providing the ARC!!

Respected professor, Aaron Nichols's marriage is going through a difficult time, causing him foolishly to embark on an affair with work colleague Cara Morton. Ultimately his wife discovers their relationship. This results in Aaron ending the affair and returning to his marriage to try and work things out Then Cara disappears without a trace, and Aaron becomes the chief suspect. The subsequent police investigation soon begins to reveal that everyone, including his wife Paige, has been hiding secrets.
I was pulled in by the synopsis and really looked forward to reading this story. The prologue – a body found in a freezer – was a great start. Unfortunately, what followed I found cluttered and convoluted. Although it’s well written, in relation to characters and overall plot, the structure of the story – multiple POV and a constant shift in the time line from past to present for most of the main characters - at times made it difficult to follow. The ending I found slightly disappointing too. Despite this, I would be interested in reading more of Angela Henry’s work in the future.

My thanks to Storm Publishing, the author and Netgalley for an ARC of The Perfect Affair in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the opening plot and idea of this book. I just couldn’t really get into it as much as I thought I would due to all of the other side plots and some characters and their stories just seemed far too over dramatized. Overall It was a good book and
I enjoyed reading The Perfect Affair.
Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing, and to Angela Henry for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Well that was one twisty book. Just as I thought I had it figured out, something else happened that I didn't expect. You're immediately drawn into Paige and Aaron's story, constantly second guessing everything. Honestly, none of these characters are not very likeable at all, but it made for such good reading. I really was gripped until the very last page. Angela Henry has a new fan.

This was such an enjoyable read! I never knew who to truly believe and the writing had me constantly guessing differently. I was intrigued steadily throughout the book and the ending was such a good twist. The only aspect that I didn’t care for was how frustratingly naive the characters were, but other than that I loved it!

On the plus side there are lots of secrets that keep you hooked just to get some resolutions but overall the plot became way over the top and unrealistic.

This was a fun book! It had ALOT going on, but I was able to keep everything straight. I’ve never read this author before. She can definitely write a perfectly constructed book! Everything flowed together and every detail was wrapped up by the end. Epilogues are always my favorite, and this one didn’t disappoint. Rarely do I read a prologue that I enjoyed as much as the one to this book. As soon as I read this book’s prologue, I was immediately intrigued. Probably one of the best prologues I’ve ever read- it was dark, but had some comic relief to it. I was thrilled that I got my answer to that opening “situation” by the
end of this book. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the ARC.

I really enjoyed this thriller novel from Angela Henry. This was my first read from her and I definitely plan on reading more.

The thrills just kept coming in this book and the twists were just jaw dropping. I found myself totally drawn in by these characters and their lives and all of their deceptions.

This book was full of characters that were not innocent. The suspect could be anyone.

Paige and Aaron's marriage is far from perfect, but after attending a faculty mixer, Paige immediately knows that Aaron is having an affair with his gorgeous colleague, Cara Morton. Paige gives Aaron an ultimatum, cut things off with Cara or leave. Cara doesn't quit without a fight, making an accusation that can ruin Aaron's career forever. However, things go from bad to worse when Cara goes missing and Aaron is the detective's number one suspect. Paige is determined to stand by her husband, but doubt creeps in. Can Aaron truly be a murderer and what other secrets is he hiding?

I had mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the first part of this book but hated Aaron as a character (I know that was the point, but he seriously annoyed me for 50% of this book). Things seemed to pick up in the middle of this book and then I was hooked. I enjoyed the mystery of Cara missing and the different timelines to help understand her past and tried to explain her actions before she went missing.

This is an interesting psychological thriller that makes you question if you can trust the person that has already deceived you once.

The Perfect Affair comes out on January 15th.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to review The Perfect Affair. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to Storm Publishing, NetGalley and Angela Henry for this ARC to read and review!

Yikes! This one had level upon level upon level of twistyness! Just when you’re leaning one way, nope … here comes another bomb. And then when you think it’s all over and done … the author takes you on another big ride! I was dizzy (in a good way) trying to keep up with this hot mess of the classic Fatal Attraction meets Basic Instinct thriller … but with so much more!! Hang on … it’s crazy!

As a new author to me, I was excited to read this new thriller release.

The concepts were appealing, and the beginning had me hooked with anticipation. However, many things were happening over a dual timeline, which lost me on several occasions. Additionally, there were a few too many secondary characters for my liking. This made the reading experience less seamless compared to other thrillers I have read in the past. Despite the great beginning, the middle part of the plot and unrealistic twists dampened my enjoyment slightly.

Nevertheless, the mental health element in the storyline was written incredibly well with sensitivity and fragility.

‘The Perfect Affair’ displays great potential for Angela Henry to become a name to look out for, and I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

Dr Aaron Nichols has just been appointed to department chair at the university when he becomes attracted to Dr Cara Morton, his wife Paige discovers the affair and Aaron promises to end it, but he's not prepared for the backlash when Cara accuses him of something that could ruin his career and his marriage, then she disappears and Aaron is the prime suspect...

The Perfect Affair is told across various timelines but predominantly the story is set in the Before and After and told from the perspectives of the two main characters, Aaron and Paige, with occasional interactions from Cara as a young child. It's a dark and intriguing plot with more twists than a fairground rollercoaster and I developed a love/hate relationship with the main characters who all had secrets to hide and none of them could be trusted. The story started off quite slow, but this author certainly knows how to draw the reader in and after a few chapters I was hooked and I had no clue where it was heading or who was responsible for Cara's disappearance. This is a first for me by this author but I will certainly be looking at more of her work in the future.

I'd like to thank Storm Publishing and Netgalley for the auto approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

This is a twisty ride that I devoured in a day. College professor Aaron is having an affair with his colleague, Cara. His wife finds out, then the mistress goes missing. Soon you find out that no one is who they seem and no one is telling the truth. A great thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this ARC, the below is my honest review.

The Perfect Affair had a strong start to the book, it hooked me instantly. However, I did think the middle of the book started dragging a bit. I did enjoy the twists which made this a good book overall, I always love when you think you know what happened and are wrong but done correctly and not completely out of left field.

Ever since watching Key and Peele sketch every time someone is named Aaron I always think of A A Ron and I loved that the book mentioned this, it made me laugh with this little shout out to the sketch.

This was my first book by Angela Henry and it certainly will not be the last, I will now keep an eye out for her work.

I would give this 3 1/2 stars if we could do half stars. This was an enjoyable romp. The ending left me exhausted…the final chapters was a lot of tying up strings, and not storytelling.
I think there was a concerted and admirable effort to write a story that was complex and intertwined, and I recognize how hard that is. There were entirely too many characters and storylines to keep straight in this book. Somehow, in the end, we got all of the answers but I can’t help but think this could’ve been a whole lot simpler.
Outside of the ending, this book grabbed me by the eyeballs and I swallowed it hole in one afternoon.

When Paige discovers her husband, Aaron, is having an affair, she is shocked. But it gets even worse when Cara, the woman he has been messing around with goes missing. Is Aaron involved? Can Paige trust what he's telling her? This was a twisted story but one that kept me listening purely because I had to know what was going to happen.
