I got the chills so many times toward the end of this book. It completely blew my mind. It managed to surpass my high expectations AND be nothing at all like I expected. Let me preface this with an apology. If I sound stunningly inarticulate at times in this review, I can't help it. My mind is completely fried from this being amazing. I recommend it for those looking for a good suspense book. My only complaint is that in order to make it a standalone, the author gave away too much of the plots of the previous books.

Wow! This book !!!!!! The Perfect Affair was my first english book of the year (second language), and i was surprised by how fluid and fast my reading was! It took me just a few sentences to be hooked by the story the autor gives us! This was amazing! All the secrets and the lies, just gave me to want to read more! And I wasn't desappointed by it! I recommend the book to everyone who loves mystery/ thriller / true crime book, and people like me who's English is their second language, it an easy read!

Thank you to Angela Henry and NetGalley for the ARC opportunity for this book!

This one had soooo many twists and turns and plot twists it just kept me guessing! When I first started the book, I thought “okay, I know what’s going to happen, this is so predictable” and BOY was I wrong!! Just when I thought I had figured everything out, Angela threw another curveball. I really liked how she kept it interesting and kept you thinking, even in the epilogue! I also enjoyed how the chapters were told from different points of view, as well as being in the past and the present.

Aaron Nichols is a professor at Roberson University, and quickly becomes infatuated with his new co-worker, Cara Morton. He thinks he’s doing such a good job at being sneaky, but of course, women always know! Paige Nichols, Aaron’s wife, realizes he’s acting strange and learns of the affair. When Aaron tries to end the affair, Cara Morton suddenly goes missing. Aaron is the prime suspect, but did he do it? Paige, Aaron, and Cara all have secrets from their past that they don’t want getting out. What will they do to keep these secrets from coming out?

This book comes out on January 15th, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with crazy plot twists and characters trying to keep their past lives from ruining the present (and future).

Thanks again to @Netgalley for another advanced copy.

Spoiler-free Summary: Paige meets her husband's beautiful colleague, Cara & instantly knows they're having an affair. Then Cara makes a shocking allegation that threatens to ruin everything. Paige stands by her husband, but things get tricky when Cara goes missing.

My Thoughts: The book kept me engaged to a point and I finished it somewhat quickly. The book lost me at times in the middle because I couldn't stop comparing it to the Fatal Attraction series (starring Joshua Jackson on Peacock). It was a very twisty book, which I liked, but whenever something happened, I couldn't stop myself from comparing it to the series. But that might be more my problem than the actual book's.

I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with ARC of this book. As someone unfamiliar with Henry's work, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the story had me hooked from the very beginning.

One of the standout aspects for me was how a single character could evoke a range of emotions throughout the narrative. I found myself feeling pity, anger, and sadness, sometimes all for the same character.
The story had lots of surprises and kept me guessing. The ending, especially the last part, totally surprised me and made the whole book even better. If you like mystery books, you should definitely check this one out!

Enjoyed "The Perfect Affair", which is the first Angela Henry book I have read. Full of twists and turns that kept this reader guessing to the end. Inspired by eighties and nineties thrillers such as Fatal Attraction the power of attraction is definitely evident as is the influence of drugs. The affects of both on families is evident in this tale. Thanks to Storm and NetGalley for the chance to ARC this book.

When Paige realizes her husband, Aaron, is having an affair with his colleague, Cara, she demands he stop. However, this leads Cara to torment them and accuse Aaron of sexual assault. Things get worse for them when Cara goes missing.

This one had good moments of suspense and a few good twists. My biggest complaint with this one though is the inconsistent time jumping. I wish the author had gone more chronological. I get she was trying to show how things happened after a reveal but I wish it had built up so then we could have seen the pieces unfold. The few random chapters from Cara’s perspective also didn’t feel necessary as they didn’t really advance our behind the scenes knowledge much. Same with the few detective chapters - those felt more forced.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

There was so much going on in this book! I couldn’t put it down. Paige and Aaron are married with twins. Paige is no longer working and Aaron got a promotion at work. The stress of everything gets to him and he starts spending more time with a co-worker named Cara. But when his wife finds out and he breaks it off with Cara, Cara is not happy and decides to get back at them in different ways, like canceling the reservation for the twins birthday party under a fake email she created for Paige. After Paige speaks with her mom, she decides to get back at Cara but she must do some digging first. She finds out that Cara tried ruining another relationship as well. Cara wasn’t happy with Aaron breaking things off so she makes an accusation about him. Is it true? Or is she just playing some game? But now Cara is missing and of course everyone believes Aaron had something to do with it. Is he innocent or has someone else decided to cause trouble and make it seem like Aaron is responsible? Paige has secrets but she knew that Aaron had secrets as well. There were so many twists in this book. I had a hard time putting it down. I would have loved to have finished it one sitting. I would definitely recommend this book! I also got the chance to listen to the audiobook. The narrator did an excellent job! Looking forward to reading more books by Angela.

Thank you NetGalley, Dream Select, Storm Publishing and Angela for the ARC and the audiobook ARC! #ThePerfectAffair

Wow! This was a wild ride with all the twists and turns. By far the best thriller I've read in a while, it kept me on the edge of my seat, gasping out loud. The author really has a way of putting you in the story and feeling all the emotions the characters are feeling. I loved the timeline of going before and after from different points of views! I cant wait to read more from this author!

This is my first book by Angela Henry. Domestic psychological thrillers are just my favorite and this didn’t disappoint!

It took me a hot minute to get into it, but then boom and I couldn’t put it down. One thing I love is a great twist and this had several and I definitely didn’t guess any of them beforehand, which makes an awesome book!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy!

Entertaining Read,
The book was well paced.; The twists and turns kept me stealing time as I could between work and regular life. Just when I thought I had it figured out, plot twist! I was really rooting for the happy ending and even though it wasn't quite what I expected, I think it ended just as it should have. I would recommend this book!

The character development between Paige, Aaron and Cara had me loving every second! I thought I knew what was going to happen, but boy was I wrong! The twists and turns had me second guessing myself through the whole book. I highly recommend this book, and can’t wait to read more of Angela’s work!

This was a good book but nothing that blew me out of the water. To be honest I think the story started really intriguing but throughout the book the plot started to go off the rails a little bit. There was too much detail which in turn caused the book to feel very long and complicated. I think there was a need to include too much in the story and that took away from what could have been a really good book. It wasnt the worst book I read by any means but not something I would talk about again and again. It was an okay book. I really wanted more from it and wanted less fluff.

Wow. That was a mystery book filled with so many twists it was hard to keep track.

Let me start by saying it was through NetGalley I was given the opportunity from Storm Publishing to read a copy of this book in return for a review. Thank you for trusting me to review a copy.

I am in complete shock. There were so many intricacies and such included into this book. Literally so much was in this book, I’m still reeling from reading it. This book definitely will leave an impression on me.

There were so many layers to each character that you start to feel close to them. There’s always a new secret unraveled and it brings you to wonder where the hell Cara Morton is.

The thing I really loved about this book was how complex everything was and how it all meshed together perfectly. Each perspective left you wondering for more, and I don’t believe there were any plot holes. Every little piece of the plot was answered and then some. It’s so hard to get into everything without spoiling anything because literally each piece of the plot is given into little sprinkles. Each chapter gives us a sprinkle of new information.

I thought I wouldn’t give this book 5 stars because I was disliking the characters, but they start to grow on you and you feel the need to root for them. This book? Anti-heroes. I already feel like saying that within itself is a spoiler.

I recommend going into this book blind, but then again I always tend to go into books blind, maybe with a little bit of what the book entails. I will say though, that this book doesn’t give you a hard time into figuring out what is going on, so it’s a pretty safe book to go into blind.

I will also say, I CALLED IT. I know there were so many twists and turns, but I was glad to see that I was wrong, then correct. Haha this will make no sense to anyone reading this, but it’s a whole process, when each layer of the answers are revealed.

I really did appreciate the diversity in this book. I especially liked that the core characters were black, and that they addressed how black people tend to be treated, especially missing black women. I was so glad to see that there was some LGBTQ+ representation included too. This book was very diverse in different ways and I appreciated all of it, speaking as a person of colour.

Let me also add, that the Key and Peele reference killed me. I think that was my favourite little tidbit of the book.

I feel so refreshed finishing reading this book. I started this in 2023, and now it’s the first book I read in 2024 and I think it’s an amazing start to this year. 5 stars all the way.

Starting 2024 off right with this nail biting, who done it, thriller that has you guessing until the very last page!
The Perfect Affair was the perfect book for me to start in 2024 because it was fast paced and addictive. I will be encouraging my friends to read this thriller!

Well done Ms. Henry! Your characters were well developed, your story was unpredictable and I couldn't put this one down! Now...which of her books should I read next because this one is going to be hard to follow!

This was my first Angela Henry book, and it won't be my last.

Aaron Nichols, the new head of the English department, strikes up a friendship with a new member of staff on his team. Turning very quickly into something more.
Before Aaron knows it, Cara is missing and he is suspect number 1.

This book had me guessing all the way through, and not once did I guess how it ended! A fast paced and full of twists and turns you won't see coming!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The cheating husband is always a good one. I really enjoyed the way this one unfolded, moving from each character’s perspective along the way. I didn't really like any of the characters and that usually bothers me. It didn’t in this book because I just had to know how this all connected from the very beginning. I will definitely read another book by this author. Thanks to netgalley for an advance copy.
