This is the fourth of Kate’s books that I’ve read and it doesn’t disappoint!! I love the way she breaks down all things Ayurveda in an easily understandable way, the focus on women’s health, the accessibility of the recipes, and the relevance/ease of all the information to actually be applied in real life…Fantastic!
Kate O'Donnell, author of Everyday Ayurveda for Women's Health, is a holistic health expert and educator of Ayurvedic practices. In this book she provides a comprehensive approach to understanding and implementing Ayurvedic practices into a woman's life. The book is divided into four parts. The first part is the background of Ayurveda, the second is a focus on self-practices, the third is Ayurvedic approaches to the stages of a woman's life, and the fourth is full of recipes.
This book focuses on alternative medicine approaches to health. The author states that she is not a doctor and to use the practices in conjunction with your doctor. I appreciated her approach to using this book along side the support of Western medicine.
My favorite part of the book was the third part which focused on the stages of a woman's life. As a woman approaching menopause, I enjoyed reading alternative methods to manage hot flashes and sleep issues.
I enjoyed reading the recipes too, but felt most of the recipes called for ingredients I would not be able to find at my local grocery store.
I see myself referring back to this book often for the self-care practices and to remind myself to take a proactive roll in caring for myself.
