Ben is a charismatic flirt but always in fun, he said some cheesy things upon meeting Summer, making her not like him from the very beginning. Ben is relentless in his pursuit of Summer and she is ice cold towards him and determined to keep her distance, even though they keep running into each other.

A Fish Out of Water is a wonderfully crafted story of Ben and Summer finding love and overcoming painful pasts on Marbella island. While this is book 2 in a series it absolutely can be read as a stand alone!

Author Savannah Scott has created such relatable characters you can't help but root for them and their happiness. From the moment Summer and Ben squared off on the dock at their "meet cute" I was intrigued by their banter and undeniable chemistry.
I enjoyed this story and I look forward to to reading more stories of the characters on Marbella Island!

A Fish Out of Water by Savannah Scott is a light, fun, closed-door enemies-to-lovers romcom that delivers on its playful premise but falls a bit short in terms of depth. Set on the idyllic Marbella Island, the story follows a would-be Hollywood starlet, who finds herself playing a mermaid in a local production while trying to avoid the island’s new heartthrob, Ben, a charming water sports instructor who rubs her the wrong way from their first meeting.

The island setting and quirky premise are enjoyable, and Scott does a great job of building the tension between the two leads. Ben is every bit the playful, attractive hero, while the heroine’s determination to keep him at arm’s length provides plenty of humorous moments. The dynamic between them is fun to watch, especially with their forced proximity as co-stars in the play.

However, while the banter is charming and the chemistry is clear, the plot feels somewhat predictable, and the character development could have used more depth. The heroine’s reasons for resisting Ben feel stretched at times, and Ben’s transformation from player to love interest seems a bit rushed.

Overall, A Fish Out of Water is an enjoyable, lighthearted read, perfect for fans of closed-door romances with a sunny, beachy setting. But if you’re looking for a deeper emotional journey or unexpected plot twists, this one might leave you wanting more.

This a fun and flirty enemies to love rom-com set on beautiful Marbella Island in California. Summer is there to start over and is not looking for a romantic relationship, especially with someone as charming as Ben. Meanwhile, Ben is not used to having his charms not work and is determined to win Summer over. Who will win this battle of wills?

If you like enemies to love, grumpy/sunshine, or opposites attract romances I think you'll really like this clean rom-com. This is part of the Love Trippin series, but I feel it could be read as a standalone. I didn't read the first book and didn't feel lost or like I missed something important to the story.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions in this review are my own.

LOVED! Summer’s storyline was unique, one I haven’t read before. I loved Ben’s persistence in pursuing Summer. He fell first and hard. Savannah Scott is one of my favorite authors. I don’t know how she keeps creating such awesome, swoony stories but I am so here for every one!

A Fish Out of Water is an okay book. It's cute, with a fun premise and a sweet relationship. I don't love closed door relationships where we pretend that all they ever did was hold hands, and this is no exception.

Savannah Scott always writes fun books that bring joy to the reader. I'm not usually a fan of enemies to lovers, but this book was written well and I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters. I liked that there was a lot of depth to the characters, despite them seeming very shallow at the beginning.

There is only one woman who has the ability to take smooth and confident Ben and cause him to trip over himself and leave him bewildered…and determined to do it all again…and her name is Summer.

Ben and Summer came to Marbella Island for very different reasons, but fate has an uncanny way of making sure their paths keep crossing.

This adorable love story of Ben and Summer is the most recent part of @savannahscott_author’s Love Trippin’ series; so what better time to reread this rom-com than when riding shotgun on a short day road trip to visit the enchanting city of San Antonio while visiting Texas last month.

The quote that hooked me: “…you could go down in history as a girl whose name is synonymous with MERMAID…”

Quote that I can’t stop thinking about: “Riding a storm out together with someone you love by your side makes the storm more bearable and it usually strengthens the bonds you share with that person in the process.”

You are insane if you let another summer end without having read this fun and unexpectedly hilarious love story.

Fish Out of Water is so cute and the chemistry and connection between Summer and Ben is perfection . I love how Savannah Scott ties characters from her other series together. This book kept me smiling through the end.

Amazing book!
I was thoroughly engaged throughout this book and I didn't want to put it down! The author captured my attention from the get go! Five stars from me :)

Ben is a flirty guy, and charm is his currency. He uses those powers to bring more joy into the world. Women cannot resist him, until he meets Summer. She is not impressed with him, and at their first meeting his powers short circuit and he's flopping around like a fish out of water.

Summer is on Marbella Island for a fresh start. She is shedding the drama of her past to try to break into the manufactured drama of Hollywood. And she has landed a part as a mermaid an island production so all is going swimmingly. Until meeting Ben throws her off her axis. Every one loves him, but all Summer can see are red flags with his fake charm.

But maybe Ben's charm isn't fake and his doggedness begins to wear away at Summer's resolve. As her walls come down she has to decide what she is willing to trust Ben with, her heart, her past, and maybe her future.

A flirty book boyfriend is always fun to read when written well and Ben is the most fun. He is like a giant golden retriever puppy, just doing anything he can to make you smile.

Contrasted with Summer's very structured and methodical approach to life, this love story thrives in the tension of opposites.

Perhaps the most deep rom com I have read from Scott so far, this book balances that depth with humor and wit and a lot of sunshine. A great read anytime of year, but I suggest adding to your summer TBR to read hopefully with your toes in the sand.

This is a closed door, kisses only sweet rom com.

Thank you to Savannah Scott for the book. A review was not required. All opinions are my own.

I was so excited to read this initially, that I totally forgot to write a review. But here it is.

Summer is an aspiring actress, who's trying to break free from her family after a scandal. She ends up on the island of Marbella, where she works at the local resort. Here she meets Ben, a charming guy from Ohio. But that's just the problem for her. He's too charming. Or can first impressions be misleading?

I loved Ben and Summer's story and I loved how both these characters grew in their own way. Summer struggles with trusting men, and Ben finds himself to be not as big of a ladies' man as he first thought when he met Summer.

I especially liked the storyline of Summer breaking with her family after a scandal. There's so much tension around this when reading the story. Unfortunately, it's also my least favourite part of the book when it comes to the ending. I just feel like there's unfinished business here. The plotline doesn't feel resolved, which results in a 4-star review rather than a 5-star.

I love a good Enemies to Lovers and Ms Scott did not disappoint. This books is full of all kinds of flirting, him falling first, flirting, a golden retriever male main character, flirting, kissing and did I mention flirting? If you like any or all of these elements then this book is for you and Ms Scott is an author you should put on auto-buy.
Thank you to the author and Netgalley for my review copy. These words are my own.

This was such a sweet read! Ben was such a cinnamon roll golden retriever and oh so lovable (even if he did veer on the side of almost too perfect.) Summer was likable after we got to know her background a little, but she was certainly rough around the edges. I love a good annoyed-to-love and this book did not disappoint. I was pleased to see Summer really make Ben work for her. And I adored Ben's confidence that came not from being unrealistically cocky but his background and close family ties with a tight community back in Ohio.
A fun read that was mostly feel-good with the touch of drama and push and pull you want from a romcom!

I love Ms. Scott's books, I always have so much fun reading them, and this one also did not disappoint. This was a delightfully fun enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine story that pulled me in from the very start and kept my interest till the end. It is part of a series, but can certainly be read as a standalone. Summer is trying to make it big in Hollywood, and is willing to work hard to get there. She doesn't have time for dating, let alone relationships. She has already been burned by charm, so she's not interested in dating anyone right now, especially someone like Ben, who simply oozes charm. Even when forming friendships, she tends to hold back a little. Ben came to the island to spend time with his friends and have fun, not looking for a relationship. But he is drawn to Summer and can't stop thinking about her. He doesn't give up easily when she constantly brushes him off. He is persistent in trying to break down the walls that Summer has put up and earn her trust.
Filled with humor, fun, and witty dialogue, this book was just too cute to put down. I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the story, and when I finished, I was left with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. The characters were well-crafted and lovable, and I was rooting for them the whole time. Ben and Summer had such great chemistry and I enjoyed seeing them together. A super sweet story that is not to be missed!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

A super fun and entertaining romantic comedy! It’s got no explicit scenes but lots of chemistry. Get ready to swoon and laugh.

A cute, early adulthood romance story, I love when the female main character is crispy and gets softened by the teddy bear boy! Ben is a flirty goofball and Summer is the cautious woman he falls head over heels for at first sight. After some persistence, Summer lets Ben in… only for him to discover she has a secret. Will they be able to work through it?

I found this book more enjoyable than its prequel, but at times the writing seemed a little repetitive. I almost think the author is trying to write books too fast and doesn’t have the same amount of time to invest into proofreading/fine-tuning.

I did enjoy this book, made me laugh and smile at many times!

This book took 2 or 3 chapters to get into, once I did I didn't want to put it down and see how Summer's and Ben's relationship would develop and throw in the complications of family secrets. It was a cute read and I would recommend it.

Another fun installment in the Love Trippin’ series! I really enjoyed this story. It was such fun watching Summer try to evade Ben’s charms and their romance once she succumbs is totally adorable. The book also has a depth of story in dealing with Summer’s history so that added a fantastic layer to the story. Great read!

While it did take me a while to get into this book, once I did I was sucked into the story.
Ben and Summer were absolute perfection and their love story was so much fun. I did think it was a bit too cheesy in the beginning, but their banter soon became such an important part of the story. Ben is such a goofy sweetheart and you can’t help but fall in love with him a little bit. His persistence and patience in regards to pursuing Summer were such fantastic qualities.
It did take me a bit longer to like Summer, but once you learn more about her you can’t help but cheer her on.
This is a hilarious RomCom that is well worth the read. You can’t help but laugh while Savannah creates a fun and engaging story.
