Heiress Takes All reminded me of the Inheritance Games and when I started the book it was hard for me to get into the story. I think it was the flash forward scene and the angst that Olivia felt for her ex who had supposedly cheated on her just like her dad did on her mother. Olivia’s father left them with nothing and is getting remarried for the second time. She sees the wedding as a perfect opportunity to get revenge and give her mom what she deserves.
After the first few chapter laying the ground work for the heist, the story was a lot more interesting. There were many twists and turns where Olivia had to think on her feet with a motley crew of friends to support her. I really enjoyed the unique plot line and all the twists but the teenage angst was a bit too much for my liking at times.

This was a fun YA book about a former heiress taking revenge on the father that kicked her and her mother out of their mansion with nothing after the divorce. Barely scraping by, and with mounting medical bills piling up, Olivia spends months enlisting fellow high schoolers to enact the perfect plan of vengeance. Even better, it all takes place during her father's third wedding. What could possibly go wrong?
This was a fun story full of action, angst, and emotions. You have to suspend belief during most of the book and just accept it for what it is - pure fun. The grownups were pretty one-dimensional bad guys, but I could overlook that because you can't take a book like this seriously. It's supposed to be a fun read, so just go with it!
I loved Olivia. She is strong, determined and quick on her feet. No matter what obstacles get put in front of her, she adapts and overcomes. The cast of characters she surrounds herself with - her crew - start out as strangers and end as friends. I particularly liked the comic relief of Kevin. So annoying, and yet, so redeemable at the end. He had the best growth arc of the entire book.
This book is described as The Inheritance Games meets Ocean 11. I can see that. It's a fun read - definitely check it out. I was provided a complimentary e-copy of this book from TBR Beyond Tours and Little Brown Young Readers. All opinions are my own.
I thought this book was just okay. I did like the plot. I was hooked the whole time. But the writing seemed a bit on the younger side.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown Young Readers for an advanced reader copy of this book! This book was ingenious, funny, and even cruel but I loved it all. I couldn’t have anticipated the twists if I tried! My overall review: if you love heists go buy this book now.
Of note there were some language and grammatical errors that I am absolutely confident will be corrected in final print.
This was the first book I’ve read by a couple that was not dual POV and I really enjoyed. The writing style was consistent throughout, there were no times where I even considered it was two different people writing. I love Olivia and despite her unique circumstances found her incredibly relative. My hands down favorite part is the crew. Each strangely carved piece of the puzzle fit together perfectly. Not to mention the intricately woven heist plan, it was magical to say the least.
The only reasons I have it 4 stars instead of 5 were the character descriptions and without spoilers some inconsistencies that were revealed to make a lot more sense at the end. I usually can picture the characters vividly but I found even when they were described I couldn’t remember what they looked like (not an idea what Dash Owen’s looks like though it was probably there somewhere). I also struggled with the whole Jackson plot until the end. Besides that it was amazing and I found myself reading it for hours straight!

A good pacing for a peculiar heist that happens during a wedding.
Olivia's father is marrying for the third time, and he has expelled his teenage daughter from his house.
She wants her inheritance and revenge not just for her but for her mom.
Olivia gathers a team of those who were wronged before, and they join her, each with a skill. They are hilarious, and the plan is great.
Her ex showing up at the wedding shakes things a little. Also... some of the guests notice the heist, and instead of stopping them, they join the revenge.
Very fun read. They have chess pieces code names, and I love the teacher McCoy with his guilt and second guessing while helping them.
I love these authors but unfortunately this book wasn’t a hit for me. The characters were kind of flat and the story moved along very slowly so I ended up DNFing because I was bored.
So I wanted to like this I really did. And there are parts of it that I really found engaging and interesting . But it was way too long, and it felt like the authors just kept adding more and more things every other page to the point where it no longer felt like a fun story and more just kind of ridiculous. Olivia is desperate to get revenge on her jerk of a father, who disowned her because she told his secret. She has gathered a crew. She hopes will help her pull off this heist, for their own reasons. I found her constant internal monologue, a little challenging, and sometimes I just wanted the action to play out I didn’t need her to narrate it for me. I also had a hard time buying this close connection between the characters, especially since they had wildly different reasons for why they were participating. There is a plot twist at the end and definitely fun and I didn’t see, and they have certainly set it up for a sequel, but I’m not sure I will be on the lookout for that.
Cute YA book that has an “Ocean 11”’s feel. Oliva Owens wants revenge. Her father cheated on her mom, kicked them out of their home, and cut her off from any inheritance she may have gotten. When is the best time to steal what she feels is rightfully hers? During her father’s third wedding, of course!
Thank you, NetGalley and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, for a copy!
"Heiress Takes All" is a funny, entertaining YA thriller that reminds me a bit of both the Finlay Donovan and Good Girls Guide to Murder series. I wasn’t expecting the book to be as funny as was, but there were also so many humorous moments and I laughed aloud quite a few times. Olivia, the main character and heist leader of a ragtag team was hard not to like, even when she's literally committing white-collar crime. The book had a great group of supporting characters as well. I adored Jackson and his unwavering love for Olivia. I was definitely rooting for them. The rest of the crew was equally as interesting. Tom was just so funny. And even Kevin, who was super annoying at the beginning and seemed to be everywhere all the time, I grew to care and root for. I thought I knew how this book was going to go and up to a point I was correct, but then the twists and turns started and I could barely guess what was coming next! Even though this book isn’t very long, I felt that the characters all had really satisfying arcs. I enjoyed the romance subplot and was glad that it didn’t really distract from the heist and other things going on throughout the book. The authors set themselves up perfectly for a sequel which I hope they write because I would love to read more books with this cast of characters! I would highly recommend this book, especially if you're looking for a fun, YA, quick-read thriller! Thanks to Emily Wibberley, Austin Siegemund-Broka, Netgalley, and Little Brown for an ARC in exchange for my thoughts.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC! I really enjoyed this book. There were a few plot holes but nothing major that distracted too much from the story. The characters were great, and Olivia was a wonderful protagonist. I loved the plot twist towards the end! I’d highly recommend this book!
I’ve been a fan of Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka’s writing in their YA and adult romances, but I was especially excited to see them take on the YA mystery/adventure genre. It’s the Inheritance Games meets Ocean’s 11. It’s a heist at a high-society wedding when a teenage daughter is looking to get revenge on her neglectful father at his third marriage by stealing his money. She’s assembled a ragtag group of fellow classmates and former teacher as her crew and partners in crime. She’s forced to get creative with the high-tech security her father hired for the event, and its all an orchestra of moving parts that could go wrong at any moment. Complicating matters is the ex-boyfriend who can’t seem to leave her alone, as well as meddlesome European cousins. It’s a high-stakes operation in more ways that one… if only she can survive. I found the writing fun and snappy, with a fast-paced plot and enough intrigue to keep the reader engaged. A perfect easy read for the beach or poolside.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for Heiress Takes All coming out June 4, 2024. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This is the first book I’ve read by these authors. I think it’s really fun that they’re married and writing books together. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but I thought the description sounded fun. I love heist books. It turned out to be a really fun book for me. I love semi-vengeance stories. The plot was really fun. It definitely felt like Ocean’s Eleven. I thought Olivia was a strong character and it was cool she was doing all of this for her mom. There are definitely some twists in the book and the ending got a little crazy, but I loved all of it. I would definitely check out more books by these authors.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys heist stories!
I love this duo! They write the most fun books. And I saw they are doing a fantasy book next!? So fun. This was a good read, i liked the thriller aspect!
While this book had an interesting topic, I feel that the execution of it was done poorly. All the characters felt one dimensional, I can't even name them to think of what their job was on the heist. This truly read like a first draft that needed more time to be fleshed out and the repetitive lines taken out.
I LOVED this book. I read it in one setting. I loved our MC and the entire crew. I felt like they were really fleshed out for a relatively short book with so many characters. This book was simply a treat
I’m a huge fan of these two authors and their YA books so I was really excited about this one, especially since it seemed a little different than their usual romance route. It took me a little bit to really get into the story at first. I felt like I had been dropped in the middle of it and was lost, but as it got going, things were explained and I had a great time reading it. With heist stories, you absolutely have to suspend your belief in reality a little bit, but that’s was part of the fun for me. Olivia was a fantastic character who had a lot of depth and complexity to her. I loved her ragtag crew and how close they all became throughout the story. I did guess one twist, but it was a good one so I was not mad about it. Honestly, I’d love a book two if they’re up for it. I’d love to see these characters again, especially Kevin who was simultaneously cringey and endearing.
CW: infidelity, divorce, emotional abuse, mentions of a car accident

Thank you @littlebrown @netgalley for a copy of this book. I will start by saying I am not the right audience for this book and may work better for the intended audience.
This one did not work for me. I don't know why I didn't DNF it - I guess I was curious how it would turn out.
This is about Olivia who is 17 year old pulling a heist on her dad's wedding day. I find it unbelievable that 1. An adult would be part of the heist and 2 that it was so easy to pull off with all that twists and turns.
Obviously there is a lot of resentment with Olivia and her das and nothing was resolved between that. There was just too many unbelievable plots that made this a meh for me. There is zero character development as the story focuses on the day of the heist.
I did enjoy the humor sprinkled through out the story.
Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka's Heiress Takes All is a fun, fast-paced ride of a gang of teens staging a heist at a huge wedding. Olivia's wealthy father is getting remarried - again - and she sees her chance to get her revenge on him. She rounds up a team to help her steal from him underneath his nose, but gets quite a bit more than she bargained for.
Reminiscent of Ally Carter and Jennifer Lynn Barnes, this book hit for me as a caper of a YA novel: a twisty adventure with relatable teenage themes layered into the big heist. The tight focus on just a handful of hours keeps the plot barreling forward, and I found the ending pretty satisfying. This would make for a great teen movie or series as well.
I really enjoyed this book!
Once I got into it, (by the second chapter, I was hooked) I was so invested and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. There were definitely things that happened that I didn't see coming which made the book even better. My heart raced during so much of the book.
I also laughed quite a bit and I think I teared up a little at one point.
I really liked the added romance element as well! I liked that when they needed to be enacting the heist and the phases, Olivia had to pause cause the ex-boyfriend kept popping up and I just feel like it added to the story and made it even better.
Definitely recommend to YA readers and fans of Emily and Austin's previous books!

Overall, this is a slow paced, slightly action packed YA Ocean’s meets revenge plot with our FMC attempting to steal millions from her father who kicked her and her mother out with nothing when she told her mother she caught him cheating.
Fast forward several years her and her mother have struggled with her mother’s health and associated bills with no help from her wealthy father who disowned her for telling her mother he was cheating.
Now he is getting married to his second wife post divorce and it’s time to get revenge.
