Oceans Eleven but with vengeful teenagers in a Rhode Island high society setting. This book was a quick read that captured and held my attention. The more you read the more you hate Dash Owen’s and vote for the crew of misfit teenagers to take him down on the day of his 3rd (but probably not last) wedding. Easy flowing ready style that will keep the reader hooked until the last page!

Heiress Takes All is a new YA heist book about a girl who plans to steal from her dad during his wedding. He kicked her and her mom out without much money so she is taking things into her own hands and stealing from her.

I did not like this book. I will start with the things I did like. I thought the heist was well planned out and was interesting to see it unfold. Everything was planned well and that was fun to read. It was fast paced and I liked that about it.

However, I did not like the characters. Everyone felt so whiny and annoying to me. It might be because they are all teenagers but I am not sure because I have liked other YA characters before.

I also felt like it was very "eat the rich" type stuff but then like the characters want to be rich too? Like it was just a disconnect for me and I didn't like that.

I feel like some of the "twists" were a bit unrealistic and it turned me off from the book.

While this book didn't work for me, I think there are still readers out there who will enjoy it.

Thanks so much to netgalley and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers for the arc of this one in exchange for an honest review!

This was my first YA read by this duo, and I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it. I kept feeling like I wanted something more to happen. I think the last ~20% of the book was my favorite, because there was finally some twists to the story. At times the characters did not feel like a bunch teenagers, and other times they really did. It also felt like the heist itself wasn’t super high stakes. I just never felt it.

Outcast teenage heiress Olivia Owens arrives at the home she grew up in for her father’s third wedding with a crew of teens who barely know each other and a heist planned down to the minute. It doesn’t take long for her careful plans to go comically wrong. Oliva takes the changes in stride. But even all the recalibrating and recalculating in the world could not prepare her for the twists and turns to come.

Heartfelt and emotional, this is a story about family, both found and by blood, and a second chance YA romance.

This was a fun, riveting ride: Teenage ‘Ocean's 11’ with emotions in every chapter.

Heiress Takes All follows Olivia Owens as she executes a heist against her own father, who has kicked her out and revoked her heiress status. Filled with twists, turns, and father-caused trauma, this book is entertaining with some deeper themes of being a child of divorce and questioning what familial love is.

I like this, but I didn't love it. It tried too hard to be funny at some points, and while some of the jokes landed, others didn't. I really related to some of Olivia's struggles and saw myself in her. I called part of the ending, but I was still entertained throughout:)

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review:)

the premise of this book was so fun! its about Olivia who very much so is displeased with her (very wealthy) dad, as he’s cheated on her mom and kicked them out…and is now getting remarried.

the amount of drama in this was absolutely insane and enjoyable 😆 Olivia was always aiming to be many steps ahead anyone/anything else in her plans and plotting. not to mention, I ended up really admiring Jackson - I feel as if he was an underestimated underdog!!

Heiress Takes All is a revenge heist planned and led by teenager Olivia Owens. She formed a crew of unlikely people who would be willing to commit a crime, but hey, who wouldn’t say no to cash right? While the blurb seemed very interesting, the entirety of the plot really wasn’t. It felt chaotic – the story just started out with the heist and the very background was just being narrated by Olivia as the heist comes along. It also got me thinking that though fictitious, the entire heist couldn’t have been all thought out by a teenager, right? It felt over the top and seems like just a petty revenge by a teenager who was robbed of her inheritance just because her parents divorced.

The overall vibe of the story was not what I was expecting, it felt very anticlimactic and quite boring. There were so many scenes and twists added that felt really off and unnecessary too, like it was just added to make the novel longer.

I had such a great time reading this book! I've really enjoyed other books by this duo, and this book sounded really excellent, and boy, it was! This girl bringing together a team to rob her father on the day that he's getting married? Yeah, it was such a cool concept!

All of these people had reasons why they were taking part in the heist, and a lot of them stemmed from her dad being such a huge asshole, with a bunch of money that frankly, he didn't need to have. So watching this group pull of this heist, it was thoroughly entertaining!

There were a lot of tense moments, and there were a fair number of emotional moments. These characters were done wrong, and luckily, together they had the ability to get back. Olivia, between the stress of plotting this out, and seeing an old familiar face, had a lot going on and I loved it!

Oh, but I really enjoyed that ending, it as really satisfying, to watch the group come together after being victorious in the heist, and while it was sad to see them disband, well, they had to. But that last bit with her grandmother, that could be, and hopeful is, set up to make this a series, which I'd love to see!

Loved reading this book, and if it becomes a series, I'll definitely read it!

This book was so much fun! I thought that the concept of teenagers trying to pull off a heist in the middle of a wedding was absolutely incredible and I loved everything that happened throughout the book. The authors romance books have been hit and miss for me, so I was pretty intrigued to give this one a read and see what my thoughts were. And honestly, why have they not written more books like this? I absolutely adored it and I cannot wait to see what they come out with next!

I had a really difficult time getting through this book and struggled to finish it. I did enjoy the integrity and character Olivia has and the author did a really great job showing that. I do wish the ending was more satisfying. Overall, a decent read!

I love a good heist plot and was excited for this. Nice hooks and fun plot overall.

The Inheritance Games meets Ocean's 11 had me HOOKED to read this one. I love a good heist book/movie that is more focused on the heist rather than gun and run types. It's the mental plays and outwitting your opponent like in a game of chess that draws me in. Highschooler Olivia does exactly that when she plans a heist to steal her father's money.

While there were a couple plot holes and twists that weren't necessary, I really did enjoy this book's story and characters. I was even surprised by how much I enjoyed the romance although yall may not agree with me but #teamTom (SNS). McCoy and Kevin really stole the show for me though. While you may hate Kevin in the beginning, just wait. He really grows on you.

I wasn’t expecting the book to be as funny as it was though. A lot of times, heist stories tend to be tense and serious, and this one was at times, but there were also so many humorous moments that I laughed aloud quite a few times. I didn't expect the emotional rollercoaster Olivia would go through with her complicated feelings about her dad. She struggles with anger at how he's treated her and her mother (as we all would be), and the shame of still wanting him to be proud. The trauma and mistrust he's caused carry over to all of her relationships, making trust in a heist difficult at first. But her growth is there and for that I'm thankful.

Thank you NetGalley and Little Brown Books for Young Readers, for the advance copy. Here's to hoping for a sequel! <3

Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemun-Broka have crafted a captivating and delightfully devious tale in Heiress Takes All, a novel that seamlessly blends the charm of a heist story with the emotional complexities of a young woman's quest for justice.

Seventeen-year-old Olivia Owens is a protagonist readers will quickly rally behind. Her father's betrayal—cheating on her mom, evicting them from their Rhode Island home, and cutting Olivia out of her inheritance—sets the stage for a gripping narrative filled with intrigue and high-stakes drama. Olivia's plan to exact revenge during her father's wedding is as bold as it is brilliant, promising a thrill ride for readers from start to finish.

The plot is meticulously detailed, reflecting the intricate planning required for Olivia's heist. Wibberley and Siegemun-Broka excel in creating tension and excitement as Olivia, with the help of a motley crew of high school friends and a former teacher, maneuvers through the wedding chaos to access her father's online accounts. The pacing is superb, maintaining a steady build-up to the climactic theft while allowing for moments of character development and introspection.

Adding to the story's complexity are the numerous obstacles Olivia faces. An over-inquisitive wedding guest, an ex-boyfriend with lingering feelings, scheming European relatives, and a vindictive soon-to-be stepmother all contribute to a series of unexpected twists that keep readers on their toes. These characters are well-developed, each with their own motivations and backstories that enrich the main narrative.

In conclusion, Heiress Takes All is a rollicking read that combines the excitement of a heist with the relatable journey of a young woman standing up for herself. It's a story of empowerment wrapped in a deliciously entertaining package. Fans of contemporary YA fiction with a flair for the dramatic will find much to love in Olivia Owens' daring adventure.

Thanks to Netgallery and the publisher of Heiress Takes All for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Let's start by saying who would like this book:
- Heist Plots
- Love Triangles (sort of?...)
- Group of friends on a mission.

Review:

This book (at times) felt like I was watching a YA version of Ocean's 11. We follow Olivia, who with a group of friends, devise a plan to seek revenge agains her father on the day of his wedding. You see, his dad cheated on her mother, and decided to leave them both without a drop of their former lives. That is about it (VERY CONDENSED recap). What I liked about the story was the whole "revenge" plot line. The love Olivia has for her mother, as well as her anger towards her dad, was set to provide a good motivation for her "plan." That was interesting enough for me to ask for the ARC. It is a fast paced book, so that is an added bonus.

What I didn't like, was the fmc. I understand that Olivia came from money and she can be prone to be "spoiled", I just couldn't find it in myself to like her. There was not much of character development and the story did drag a little bit towards the middle for me. It is a good book, and interesting premise with a twist but it didn't quite hit the mark for me.

With that being said I am very appreciative to Netgalley and Little Brown Books for Readers for the opportunity.

Heiress Olivia Owens wants revenge on her father for cheating on her mother, then kicking Olivia and her mother out of their home and the only life they've ever known. Olivia's mother is in debt and struggling and Olivia is not about to happily watch her father marry wife #3. She's planned a heist to steal millions from him during his wedding, but can she pull it off when her ex-boyfriend and many other obstacles get in the way?

HEIRESS TAKES ALL was just plain escapist fun, with a dash of romance that kept me turning pages one after the other, racing to the thrilling finish. I loved every second of it! While there was a certain element of having to suspend a bit of disbelief, I almost didn't care about that. I was too invested in Olivia and the crew she had worked to establish, the roles being played, the high-stakes con, and the heartbreak waiting in Olivia's interactions with her ex-boyfriend, Jackson.

This is my first read by Emily Wibberly and Austin Seigemund-Broka and now I'm kicking myself for that. Wow! Seriously, every chapter ending on a mini-cliffhanger kept me going. Every new threat to the plan, every new thing that side-tracked the plan, every moment Jackson tugged at Olivia's heart, every time her emotions got involved--all I wanted was to keep going, see her figure it out. I was totally invested in this book and actually read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down! And oh, the tug at my heart-strings as Olivia battled with trying to figure out if she could trust Jackson and let him back in. Ouch, my heart.

Fans of Leverage will love this book. Filled with twists and turns, HEIRESS TAKES ALL kept me wondering what would happen next.

“Why pull a heist when you can be an heiress?”

Emily and Austin are autobuy authors for me for a reason, and with this foray into a new young adult sub genre for them, they’ve further solidified that. There’s absolutely nothing these two can’t write that isn’t pure magic, and HEIRESS TAKES ALL is simply another layer to the already impressively tiered cake of their career.

I was completely obsessed with the premise of this one, of a scorned heiress attending her father’s wedding simply to swindle him out of the inheritance she was owed. And with the Chess Club crew at her back, things should’ve gone off without a hitch. In fact, the act of them getting into the wedding and the first few phases of The Plan go smoothly, which ultimately lulls you into a false sense of security.

But while I should’ve known better, I wasn’t surprised when things started to go off the rails. I loved viewing the evening through our narrator, Olivia’s, eyes. Through the lens of a daughter pushed to the side by her father who only cared about things like wealth, status, and power. It amazed me, by the end, how many people were ultimately complicit in the heist, and I loved Olivia and the crew’s quick thinking to get them out of sticky situations.

In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this complex tale of familial expectations and dynamics, of found family and how they often mean more than blood bonds do, and the daughter who will stop at nothing to achieve retribution.

HIGHLY recommend!

3.5

I'm a firm believer in silly, fun books. They have a lot of charm and are easily digestible between serious, lengthy novels. Heiress Takes All fits perfectly in that category.

Olivia's father is the textbook definition of a deadbeat dad. Fortunately, he's a rich deadbeat dad. Olivia is hellbent on revenge after he screwed her and her mom over. The perfect opportunity drops into her lap: her dad's marriage to his mistress. She assembles a crew to steal millions of dollars from her dad. But, nothing goes to plan, especially as her ex-boyfriend keeps getting in the way.

Again, this book is just so much fun. It starts fast and resumes that breakneck speed. Olivia is a high-strung untrusting MC. She's quick on her feet and changes her plans as more and more things go wrong. Her crew was easy to distinguish

I had to suspend my disbelief from the beginning. Immediately, there were plot holes and questions swept to the side for the book to work. I had to ignore these things for the book's ending to work. I didn't mind, since the authors weren't going for a complicated, serious heist.

There were too many twists for my taste. While they kept the book entertaining, it was too much. The twists formed several subplots and mysteries that were hard to track as the authors built the story. Two subplots kept my attention, but I'm guilty of tuning out the rest.

I didn't expect the emotional turmoil Olivia would go through. Between crazy plot twists, Olivia grapples with her complicated feelings about her dad. She struggles with anger at how he's treated her, and the shame of still wanting him to be proud. The trauma and mistrust he's caused carry over to all of her relationships, especially with her ex. Usually, I don't like romantic subplots, but here it worked. It was integral to Olivia's character arc and coming to terms with her trauma.

If you want something light-hearted, and crazy with a feel-good ending, this is a great one to pick up! Just be ready to ignore some obvious plot holes from the get-go.

I liked the romance and the friendships, but the overall plot wasn’t my favorite, and I found myself wanting the main girl to go to jail for majority of the book. Which, I get that’s it’s for character growth and you’re probably supposed to dislike her for most of it, but as a very character driven reader, it made it a lot less enjoyable for me.
Realistically I’d put my rating at 2.5 stars, but I just rounded it up because I did like the friendship aspect of the book a lot!

Seventeen-year-old Olivia Owens isn't thrilled that her dad's getting remarried...again. She's especially not thrilled that he cheated on her mom, kicked them out of their Rhode Island home, and cut Olivia out of her rightful inheritance.

But this former heiress has a plan for revenge. While hundreds of guests gather on the grounds of the gorgeous estate where she grew up, everyone will be thinking romance—not robbery. She’ll play the part of dutiful daughter, but in reality she’ll be redistributing millions from her father’s online accounts. She only needs the handwritten pass code he keeps in the estate's safe.

With the help of an eclectic crew of high school students and one former teacher, Olivia has plotted her mid-nuptial heist down to the second. But she didn't plan for an obnoxiously nosy wedding guest, an interfering ex-boyfriend intent on winning her back, greedy European cousins with their own agenda, or a vengeful second wife. When everything seems like it's going wrong, Olivia has to keep her eyes on what really matters: getting rich. And when she’s done, “something borrowed” will be the understatement of the year.

This was a very unique premise that immediately caught my attention. A 17 year old organizing a heist? Count me in! I could also completely understand her reasonings behind it because I too would do whatever I needed to help my mom. I enjoyed the overall plot of the story, but there were some instances where it dragged a bit with the storylines weaved in. I wanted more of the right now action, and toward the end we see a lot of it. Overall, I would recommend this for teens in high school or early 20s!
