I dnf this book. I was very happy to read a romance between two adult womans being opposite and with different background but I couldn't continue to read without not thinking how childish and not mature their thinking were and their actions. I thougth I was reading about adult people but it felt as they were teenagers. And I felt their interactions and the whole relationship moving too fast.
This is a book I wanted to love, and at first I did. I actually did not mind that the characters shared the emotional baggage that weighed them down, because of how supportive they both were--I was glad they could find someone to share that burden and lighten that load because it helped deepen their relationship; but after a while it felt like too much.
Overall, it is a good book and I liked it, but I wish I had been prepared to deal with all the heavier emotions, especially because I am devouring these books as a way to escape from the political hellscape that surrounds me.
This book started out well and I was engaged in the story. About halfway through though, something started to fall flat for me. I think the story just took too long to unwind and I lost interest in the story.
It was a fine read, just not in my top choices.
This was an interesting premise that I really enjoyed reading.
Juliet is a writer with a deadline looming on her way to Scotland. Mia is on her way to her home in Belgium. These 2 women have a change meeting on the plane to their destinations and forge a quick friendship & exchange information. Once Juliet gets to Scotland and gets mugged, she contacts Mia. Mia flies her to where she is and the friendship turns to more. Both women carry a lot of baggage and while trying to figure out feelings for each other, they are also trying to figure out how to deal with a relationship.
I would recommend.
I recevied an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I chose the book because of the touching story and I kept hearing about it. The first meet at airport is kinda cute, with the gap between two characters, yet their banter is so cute. I was like ooh their chemistry is good. But then Mia and Juliet bid goodbye to continue their path, they kept updates from each other through email but ya know not everything could be conveyed through words. The first 40% of the story is kinda slow (to me) with the long dialogue and angsty feeling. Even when i know both characters need time to heal and deal with their story, i still find it hard to stay focus. Generally, if you are searching for a slow burn, heartwarming romance, this story will be a good choice.
I really enjoyed this book two people meet in airport and then meet up again forming a connection both characters have bagage and issues to deal with but eventually by talking to one another they start to overcome their personal issues. I liked both the characters and found them both quite quirky. Will read more by this author. Thankyou for advanced copy.
Mia is escaping, going from her home in the States to Scotland, where she planned on seeing if she can get her life back on track. With parents and a sister, who always follow their lead, Mia never felt a part of the family. Heck, she even married the man they thought was acceptable. She had hoped they would be more welcoming but ….. When she found herself pregnant she was overjoyed at the thought of becoming a Mom. But unfortunately her baby was still born. Heartbroken, she really didn’t have time to absorb her loss because her husband decided it would be the perfect time for their divorce.
Juliet has already had a book on the top seller list and now her publishing company is getting on her to finish her new book. Her father and her always had a complex relationship, mainly because work always came first for him. Even when she lost her brother she barely had contact with her father. To top it all her mother was spending her time at a special care home. Most of the time she didn’t even know Juliet’s name.
With Mia’s life in ruins she meets Juliet on a flight to Scotland. Not that Juliet was going to Scotland, she just thought if she had a different location she might break the writer’s block she was dealing with. Now the fun begins as Ms Tune tries to bring the pair together. A very enjoyable read.

I strugle with reading this book, because I couldn´t connect with the main characters.
The story about Juliet (author, who lost her inspiration), which she must complete her next book and Mia (women, who after her divorce, she tried to find her way in life) was for me confusing. The story has some unexpected twists.
After reading this novel, I count my lucky stars for the family that I have. This novel got me thinking about what it takes for someone to stay.
I loved the MCs in this novel. Their friendship was smooth and progressed at a very realistic pace. What got them was all the scars they had from their pasts. I love the fact that the author recognizes the importance of boundaries in relationships and the meaning of being in a partnership. The end made me cry and smile at the same time, it was profound. The reasons behind “staying” will never be the same for me
Reading this book was a dramatic, emotional and romantic experience that I enjoyed to the fullest. Two women from different worlds grow together as they face the realities that have scarred them and they learn that they can’t change their future if they allow themselves to be dictated by their past.
Juliet and Mia met in an airport when a somewhat haggard Juliet, dressed in yoga pants and a hoodie, had a meltdown when she was denied access to the VIP lounge of Emirates Airlines. She vented to the agent about how she hadn’t slept in 38 hours, had been in the “cattle car seats,” had been knocked around and had thrown objects hit her, on and on, etc. Mia, in elegant attire, stood and witnessed the scene before stepping forward and announcing that this person was her guest. Thus, the bonding began. Mia was affluent, had connections and took charge, changing Juliet’s flight itinerary to first class, seated next to her.
Juliet’s destination was Bruges Belgium, where she was going to work on writing her second novel. Mia was headed to her home in Scotland. They began to keep in touch by texting. Juliet was eventually invited to stay with Mia in Scotland. They became closer, eventually falling in love. As they learned about each other’s past, the truths, insecurities and flaws surfaced, leading to the fragility of the relationship and if it could survive.
It took a lot of understanding, love and trust in each other, and the ride that I called this reading experience, was beautiful and one that will stay with me for a long time.
I completely endorse and encourage others to read this book that came out in 2016 and has been offered, once again by Ylva Publishing. My thanks to Ylva and NetGalley for the opportunity to read it.
After the airline trip from helll, author Juliet Taylor is rescued by the lovely Mia Revira. After a fun few days together, they fly off to different parts of the world, but remain connected via email.
After Juliet is mugged, Mia arranges for them to be reunited in Scotland. They grow closer, but the solitude is broken when Juliet needs to go home due to her Father's death.
I don't want to go into too much detail to avoid spoilers. Mia and Juliet go through grief and loss together, while developing their feelings for each other. Very much a slow burn novel, but very engrossing.
Good book, recommended!
My favourite type of romances are LGBTQIA+ books. I love the premise of the book but I found it hard to stay immersed. I'd definitely read more by the author in the future though to see what their other books are like.
Juliet meets Mia in an airport lounge while waiting for the same international flight. Both women are a bit damaged by life but Mia’s kindness opens the door to friendship. Juliet is a writer and continues on to Bruges where she hopes to finish her second novel by its deadline. Mia is off to her home in the highlands of Scotland. They stay in contact via email and texting and Mia eventually offers her home as a place Juliet can stay and write. I’m skipping details to avoid sharing too much.
This book is heavy on angst as each shares their past and the baggage they carry. And they also endure ongoing hardships in their lives too. I felt I knew and understood Mia more than Juliet. There is a lot of dialogue between the two but Juliet is also good at evading when she wants. They are good to each other and I like where this ends up but the journey to get there is very heavy. I do love the idea of chance meetings and new chosen friends and family. This book was originally published in April 2016. Thank you to Ylva Publishing for the digital copy and I am leaving a voluntary review.
Not my cup of tea (review from August 20, 2017)
Rewriting the Ending is a story that’s dialogue heavy and told in a meandering sort of way. You’re witnessing two people meeting for the first time and following each of them after that initial encounter, learning about them thru their individual experiences and shared conversations, at what would be a realistic pace for real life but feels slow in a fictional story. There are some great insights made by the characters, who are complex and well written, some surprising events and reveals that occur in terms of the plot, but overall the book was not my cup of tea. Also the copy I received to review had several recurring typos and other errors which further interrupted the flow of my reading of this story.
I would like to read something else by this author for the sake of comparison and only recommend this story to those interested in a slower unfolding of character development and plot in the story beyond the main characters’ initial meeting.
