So Good! I love the witty banter between Vega and Hoyt. If you are looking for a great book to have a good laugh with as well as a few tears then you need to read this one.
I wanted to really like this book, but it just fell a little flat for me. The believability of the duo as a healthy couple was wanting. There is an interesting enemy to lovers (rivals) feel between the romance, which was entertaining—lots of spice.
The setting of Hawaii is my favorite part of the novel and could've been used at greater length. The author has the potential to make her mark, and I look forward to seeing what other works she will create.
This was an honest review sponsored ARC from NetGalley.
Just read Flux by Becky Banks :) It was just great book. It was something different, new and exciting!! If you’re looking for a new book to read I strongly recommend this book in a heartbeat❤️
*I received this book free from NetGalley.*
Vega and her friends have been living place to place trying to do good while hiding from their past. He step-father caused a world of pain and trouble for her that she has been dealing with since she was little. Stolen identities cause her to have to change her and her baby sister's name to avoid unwanted attention. Most people who know her only know her online handle and nothing more. But now that her sister is going to college and she wants to be close she finds herself back in her hometown.
With her step-father in prison her friends finally convince her to relax a little, even go out with them, which is where she meets Hoyt. He's an ex-athlete who turned billionaire after he designed some security technology that was unhackable. Of course, being the hacker she was she couldn't resist going straight for him.
Hoyt lost his head and let fame get to him, but his family re-grounded him and that's when he focused on his business. Meeting a girl in a club, who basically steals his phone and hooks right into should have caused a major reaction in him, but he was intrigued and knew the tech on his phone was better than her...or so he thought. Seeing her almost get past his security piqued his curiosity and he wanted to know more about the mystery woman.
So much happens in this book as Vega and Hoyt work together. He wants to hire her, and she just wants to get past his security to win the million-dollar cash prize. However, they both can't seem to stay away from the other and eventually things heat up between the two. He offers her a life she could get used to, but just when she's planning out their future her biggest threat comes for her, and she'll run. Of course, Hoyt's a billionaire and why wouldn't he flex his connections for someone he loved. Even if it meant cleaning up everything in her past so that she didn't have to run anymore.
Flux is an intriguing journey that will wind you in directions you didn't see coming and you'll enjoy every moment of the ride. I know, because I did. It's filled with friendships that can survive anything, two stubborn people who push each other to bring their best, and sisters that will learn to trust each other. I will admit it was the cover that caught my attention, but the writing is what kept it.
Sexy Tech Romance 😍
I enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down. Vega and Hoyt have sparks flying when the first meet. As the story progresses so does their fire between them and the obstacles against them.
i want to be vega. i want to let hoyt fuck me.
THIS WAS SO GOOD HOLY SHIT??? just go pick it up rn. it had all the thrilling mystery vibes which'll send shivers down your spine + the heart-melting bone-crushing type of romance i always love reading about.
wow.
just finished this high octane, sexy as hell, creative, fun, did I say sexy yet?!, romance thrill ride.
go immediately & read it.
I want to be best friends with Vega and let Hoyt feed me leftovers while wearing his oversized dress shirts and sitting on the kitchen counter. I would run from Hoyt just for the pure thrill and satisfaction of knowing he would chase me and find me.
I found the backstory exciting and compelling, the interactions between Hoyt and Vega dynamic, purposeful and HOT and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED watching Hoyt’s composure slip little by little the more Vega interlaced herself into his life and his veins.
I may have been hoping for a wild, loud, bang up explosion of a conclusion, different than the neatly composed bow of a solution Hoyt delivered to Vega, but either way I absolutely loved reading this book. I want more epilogues telling me that Peace & Zane get back together and explaining how Cindy & Vega continue their friendship after their cop/fugitive/we don’t know each other situation. Please tell me more!!!!
Solid 4.5 rounded up to 5!
“When you haven’t seen the darkness, it’s easy to be bold.”
“Flux” by Becky Banks is a new adult romance about Vega and Hoyt. Vega, a hacker that protects people in need, attempts to hack Hoyt. Hoyt, tech billionaire, thinks his life is on track being incredibly rich and successful and engage to a beautiful woman, but when Hoyt and Vega meet their lives become alight with competition and attraction to each other.
This book was so good, the beginning was a bit boring at times but once it picked up it was absolutely perfect. It’s a great billionaire romance trope but with Pacific Islander cultural aspects, family abuse, and foster care. As a native PNW I loved that it takes place in my town. The part I liked the most was that last bit of the book; throughout the book I thought it was a solid 4 but after the last part it became 5 stars for me. Definitely will be reading more by Becky Banks.
-Billionaire Romance
-Vigilante
-Enemies to Lovers
-Hacker

Great book 4 stars !
This was an enjoyable, and steamy book that had me wanting more and more page after page. I love when a book grabs me and never wants to let me go. The concept of this story was something I hadn't read before, and that alone made it so intriguing and captivating. Becky Banks did a great job with this novel. Thank you Becky and Netgalley for an arc of this book.
I wanted to love this book, but it felt way too rushed. There was also a lack of world building (it's supposed to give steampumk vibes), and the main character was unlikable. There were some good parts (mostly in the second half), but overall I didn't love it.
I rarely relegate things to the DNR list, but this almost got sent there. The book started out slow and often got bogged down by excessive details. I enjoyed the overall plot and the MCs, just wish the author has edited themselves a bit more. Details build worlds, yes, but they shouldn't do so at the expense of the plot's flow. Still, I'd probably read more from this author.
Full disclosure, this was an advanced reader copy obtained via NetGalley.
Let's start with oh my goodness. This is by far one of the best books I have read all year, and I have read 300 since May. I could not put this book down I read it in one sitting. The FMC was so amazing such a strong independent woman who would do anything for anyone. The MMC was such a cinnamon roll who had an amazing back story just like the FMC. It was the perfect amount of spice; I had never read the island language before in a book or really anywhere, but good golly miss molly it was so hot and so amazing to see in a book. I really hope the little easter egg at the back of the book is a book to come because I could not get enough. If you're into books with an amazing story line with some spice sprinkled in here and there this is a book for you. I will most likely read this again if i am ever in a reading slump or just want something super good to read,
I have to say that I was less than impressed with this book. I liked the cat and mouse vibe that Hoyt and Vega had with each other but legit there was no major plot until like 75% into the book. There was a ton of steamy scenes though which contributed to the 2.5 stars. Everything just seemed a little rushed in my opinion.
Vega has been hiding behind the internet and helping women through struggling situations for over a decade now. Her handle is the name you are given when you have a man who posts nude pics of you online without your permission. Or who just wont take no for an answer. She is a dark web hero. She also is a major hacker. She has never been able to have a relationship or really open up to anyone because of her past which still haunts her. Until she meets Hoyt who is the founder of Hoyt Technologies. Hoyt has an open challenge out that if someone can hack his network they will get 1.5 million. Well of course Vega can't resist the challenge and again of course while playing this little game things start to heat up between the two of them. Vega finally feels safe enough to open up to this man who she now loves after knowing him for a few weeks. She feels safe because of his power and need to protect her. But what will she do when the bogey mans hows back up unexpectedly? Will she be able to clear her and her sister's name so they can live the life they want to live?
Again, this whole thing felt rushed to me. The plot was this cat and mouse game of Vega hacking Hoyt's mainframe and them hooking up through 75% which is when she told Hoyt about her past and what all was on the line. I just wasn't impressed with the depth or pace.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Hoyt jest taki no... okej?
i loved this book! i think what i enjoyed the most was how refreshing it was to read about an FMC that can handle her own problems, let me tell you something about Vega Flux. She is MY IDOL!!! Honestly shes hilarious and a freaking BADASSSSSS
also I most definitely will not mind a giant billionaire Maui tech genius as our MMC, Hoyt you have my heart<3
Vega and Hoyt are uniquely capable of loving, challenging, and understanding each other that no one else has been able to do. their relationship is just goals goals and goals!!!
what to expect:
Notorious Hacker x Tech Genius
Cyberpunk vibes
Funny Bickering and side Games/Challenges
Hawaiian MMC
BADASS FMC
Vigilante
5 star from me all the way!!
Holy Hot Hawaiian NFL Star
Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🔥🔥 (was really expecting more honestly)
Characters 🙂🙂🙂🙂
This is definitely a Hawaiian culture heavy book. It’s so thick and rich with how different life is here, I definitely recommend reading the back glossary first and understanding pidgin a bit because if not, you’ll think there’s no editor.
That being said I really liked this book but I didn’t love it. The beginning starts really fast paced and confusing and I really couldn’t tell which was here or there or even where this book was going. From there though. it really got so much better. It’s such a cute “meet cute” story that was a LOT long but was definitely worth it for the ending. And that Epilogue was definitely one well deserved for our main characters. I do still have some questions that I feel like were lost out there like Vega learning to fight etc. Why Hoyt just decided he wanted to get married? Etc. but they weren’t too pressing for the story. All in all the writing was good and the story is one I’ll hold close to my heart as a Hawaiian resident and because of all the soft smiles this story will give you.
For Maui.
Happy Reading.
4.25/5
I enjoyed this book so much. The MMC, Hoyt, a billionaire tech titan, and the FMC, Vega Flux, a hacker who protects women, cross paths and end up in a little cat and mouse game as she hacks into his system. Their first meeting was so tension-filled and the banter that followed was so good. It was a little insta love (which isn’t my favorite trope) and the smut had language that was too technical, which took me out of the moment, but the chemistry between the two was so good that those things didn’t really matter. The story was intriguing, and the couple had such nerdy, cute moments despite their hacking game. I loved how both characters unmasked themselves and opened up about their pasts - him with his culture and hitting rock-bottom and her with all that she was running from. The story was fast-paced, sexy, sweet and funny. I definitely recommend checking this out!
I’ve got mixed feelings about this book, I feel like it was long enough to have had developed some bits a bit more/better. The plot itself was interesting and despite the almost insta-love element, it didn’t feel like a cliche, but I wanted more out of it - more details about the Valkyrie project, more about Peace and Cindy. Also, the writing felt super clunky sometimes - it takes a bit to get into it and then I feel like it could have benefited from better editing (especially around the sex scenes).

Thank you Netgalley for the copy!
