This book is filled with likable characters. It starts out with Hannah who is a ROMCOM debut author with a case of writers block. She decides to take up the offer from her Aunt Maddie to get away from the city and stay with her for the summer in Chatham, Cape Cod to help end her writers block.
This story makes you feel like you’re part of the story. Makes you think of your past experiences and all your own fond memories. It’s has a light and cheery feeling and is a very enjoyable read! It’s not easy to stop listening to it! You get to know the characters and relate to them throughout the book. This deals with friendships, relationships and family. First novel by this author for me and I will definitely be listening to more of hers! A must read!
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers in letting me listen to this audiobook and allowing me to leave an honest review.
Hannah is having a bit of writer's block while trying to write her second novel. She is currently living in Brooklyn and decides to travel to her hometown of Chatham, on Cape Cod, for the summer. She is staying with her aunt right on the shore. Her mom has passed away six weeks earlier and she has just gone through a bad breakup. She is spending the summer rekindling old friendships and spending more quality time with her aunt and her sister. One of her old friends from high school, Spencer, is now a hot lawyer. His grandparents just happen to live next door to her aunt. What will Hannah's future hold? Will she go back to the rat race of Brooklyn or will she stay in Chatham where the living is slower and so much more enjoyable? Thanks to @NetGalley for allowing me to read the ARC of this book. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you Pamela M. Kelley and St. Martin’s Griffin for my #gifted copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
This was a sweet and simple summer-y read, but sadly it just didn’t give me what I needed it to.
Thoughts:
-Focused on two sisters and their aunt dealing with their own issues in life as well as the sudden loss of their mother/sister, I was expecting an emotional read of grief and growth. I wish the grief aspect was explored in more than just one chapter
-Unfortunately, both of the sister's storylines felt one-dimensional and the dilemmas they faced were wrapped up too neatly and quickly
-Hannah’s love felt forced and unneeded. It felt like it came out of nowhere and I felt no chemistry between the two. Individually they were fine characters, I just didn’t see them together
-Sara’s relationship with her husband irked me and I enjoyed reading about her standing up for herself, but the resolution seemed too easy
-The setting definitely pulled me in with its beachy shores, bookshops, and coffee shops
-I did really enjoy the aunt and uncle's storyline. I wish the story focused more on them and dove into their relationship deeper
Overall, this wasn’t my favorite read, but it was giving all of the summer beach vibes.
The Seaside Sisters is, no questions asked, a beach/vacation read that offers a light and easy reading experience. The novel delivers on its promise of romance and chick lit, making it a delightful choice for fans of those genres. It's a great book to read to recover from a heavier book, or before beginning a more profound read.
For me however, there wasn’t character development, which made it challenging to become fully immersed in the narrative.
Would I recommend it? If you are looking for a pleasant read and nothing to deep, it is perfect.
Thank you to @stmartinspress and @netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this novel
I so enjoyed this next book by the fabulous Pamela Kelley. The author has a talent for writing atmospheric coastal settings and this setting of Cape Cod is transporting for the reader. Thank you to the publisher, Net Galley and the author for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own. A perfect summer read.
This is a sweet story of sisters who are reconnecting and finding themselves amid their life events. I loved the close family relationships and the coastal setting. One sister is a Mom of four who finds her life going nowhere as a stay at home Mom and wants to go back to work but cannot find a way through the chaos of her family. She takes off for Cape Cod and leaves her disinterested husband to care for the family. He shows no interest in her duties and she is hoping after the summer that will change. The other is a writer unable to find her way to her second book. She cannot find her inspiration to continue writing. They retreat to their Aunt's home and together they help each other make life decisions amid the beauty of the Cape. The family grows closer and supports each other through a life changing summer.
I enjoyed the characters, the setting and the light romance . A very enjoyable summer time read with the perfect setting .
I just devoured "The Seaside Sisters" by Pamela M Kelley and I'm still reeling from the delightful experience! This heartwarming novel follows the story of three sisters, each with their own unique struggles and triumphs, as they navigate love, loss, and the complexities of family relationships. Kelley's masterful storytelling weaves together a rich tapestry of characters, setting the stage for a dramatic and emotional journey that will keep you hooked from start to finish. With its relatable characters, engaging plot, and picturesque coastal setting, "The Seaside Sisters" is a must-read for anyone seeking a feel-good, uplifting story that will leave them feeling inspired and hopeful.
I really enjoyed this book! I thought it was very cool how it was a multi-generational family story but instead of moms and daughters we had aunts, cousins, etc. And also plenty of friends! It did wrap up sort of abruptly, but overall I enjoyed it!
Theoretically, this book has all the components of a book that I should like. It has sisters. It has a bookstore. It has authors. It is set on the beach in Cape Cod. Yet, for me, it falls short in the execution.
It feels like everything in the book is a glossed-over version of the actual event. Hannah is the main character but we don't really get to know her. It's the way I feel about every character. They are very one-dimensional.
The storyline floated over details. The reader never gets any depth to the story.
It remains a light read, I suppose it is suitable when someone needs an easy storyline. I did keep reading because I wanted to know which man Hannah ends up with, whether or not Maggie reunites with her husband. In other words, I cared enough to stick with it. I just needed more.

Thank you Netgally for the Advance Readers Copy.
It was sweet story about family, friends and neighbors going through life passages and struggles to find happiness.
Whale watching, cookout and gorgeous summer days. Two sisters and their aunt living in this cozy Cape Town
This novel celebrates family bonds, second chances, and the healing power of saltwater and sand. A perfect beach read.
Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
What a perfect summer read. The family dynamics in this story were wonderful to read about. I loved all of the characters and the description of Chatham. I would love to spend a summer there!
If you enjoy cozy romances with a HEA ending, then give The Seaside Sisters a read.
This fun novel is set in Chatham, Cape Cod . It revolves around the lives of sisters Hannah and Sara and their aunt Maddie.
The plot is predictable with little surprises but is great for a few hours of escape reading I give it 3.5 stars.
Thank you St. Martins Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.
The author has a nice writing style. I like the location and the plot. But the reading pace for me was a little slower than I prefer.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
This was a cute and fast paced read, perfect to stuff in your beach bag for a day lounging by the water. I thought the characters were very well developed and likeable, and everyone had a good dynamic and banter. I think this is either my second or third book I've read by Pamela Kelley and now that Elin Hildebrand is not publishing any Nantucket novels after this year, Pamela Kelley's work will be a good substitute. Additionally, if you enjoy audiobooks, the audiobook version of this book is set to be narrated by Stephanie Nemeth-Parker. Super fun and quick read.

The Seaside Sisters was another enjoyable read from Pamela M Kelley. It hit the spot- just what I was in the mood for!
Hannah is an author living in the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn- grieving the death of her mother and experiencing major writers block. She decides to spend the Summer in Cape Cod where her aunt and sister also live. That commences a dreamy, laid back summer of small town coffee and book shops, beaches, and seafood. More importantly it tells the stories of friendship, family and sisterhood. Sara, Hannah’s older sister has her own storyline- she is a stay at home mom and feels unappreciated in her marriage and life- it was fun to see her story unfold as Sara works to rediscover parts of herself she had lost along the way and see what her marriage is made of. Hannah’s aunt, Maddie, is a publisher and also works through aspects of her career and marriage. All in all, the Seaside Sisters is a nice beach read/ romance. Perfect for a summer vacation read!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy!
perfect summer read!!!!! the story of 2 sisters struggling through their own personal lives, but trying to find a way to carry on. 4/5 stars
Sweet story of two sisters and their aunt, set in Chatham, Cape Cod. Hannah returns home hoping that a change of scenery will help her writer’s block. She stays with her aunt and discovers that she and her husband have temporarily separated. Her sister Sara is super mom and now takes on a part time job. Plus Hannah is reconnecting with old friends and making new.
Very slow burn in the romance department, seemed to ramble on and very predictable in my opinion. I did listen to the audiobook book and the narrator was good, which did keep the story interesting. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley. #TheSeasideSisters
Hannah, a newly minted best selling rom-com author living in Brooklyn for the past 10 years, heads home to Cape Cod to try and take care of her health, get over her writers block, re-connect with her sister, and visit her Aunt Maddie.
Sara, with all of her kids now in school, is looking forward to getting a part-time job rather than continuing to be a stay at home mom. Her husband isn't very supportive.
Maddie, working in the publishing world, has separated from her husband of many years. Neither she nor he really know why they separated, but he's living in their Manhattan apartment, while she lives in Chatham Cape Cod.
All three of these scenarios could warrant their own book, so the stories were kind of all over the place. Hannah meeting two different men and dating both. Sara finding a job and also finding a bit of dissatisfaction in her husband's attitude to her job. Maddie, not really knowing what she's missing, but she knows there is something not right.
All of the tendrils come together in the end, and the book was satisfying. A very good beach read and also a book that you can put down and come back to time and time again until it's finished. It's not riveting, but it's not boring either. It's kind of real life in a nutshell.
This is a new author to me and I almost gave up on this one a third of the way through because I felt it was a bit slow for me, but I’m really glad I hung in there. It’s actually a nice light feel good story with a wonderful happy ending. So many good characters. I really liked Hannah and her sister Sara. I was very proud of both of them for a number of reasons. I liked so many of the other characters too though especially Spencer, Natalie and Maddie. I ended up liking this story very much and could relate to many of the characters. I would definitely read more from this author.
This was my first Pamela M Kelley book. I got it because it was about books, librarians and, of course, romance. It was a winner! I loved it! I love the relationships between the sisters and their aunt. I also really enjoyed the neighbors, especially Spencer.
Cape Cod seems to be a magical place. After reading this one, I will read more books by Ms Kelley. If you are a fan, or new like me, I believe you will enjoy reading “The Seaside sisters”.
