Net Galley Review: The Seaside Sisters by Pamela M. Kelley is good. I give it 3 stars. The story is about two grown sisters' lives, navigating love, family, death, work, and everything in a cute beach town is a quick read. This book is a perfect beach read - not too intense, adorable, and fast. The book is set to be published on June 4th.

Solid 3.5 to 4 star book. This book is one of those that you just wanna open up on a warm summer day sitting on the beach. The author did a great job of creating characters who you get to know very well and root for in the different places that they are in their life. We meet Hannah, who after some stressful times, decides to come home to Chatham for the summer to work on her next book. She gets to reconnect with her family and meet some new people. It’s a wonderful story about what we really want in this world and we come to get it.
I love me a story like this! It kept me captivated from the first chapter. I just think a wide variety/range of people will really enjoy this! I recommend.
This was a fluffy, low drama, low stakes, light summer read. It had some relatable characters who worked through their problems fairly effortlessly. There was a tiny bit of very clean romance. And a great setting in a Cape Cod shore town. It really is the quintessential beach read. Perfect to read while you’re drowsing in the sun and sipping a cold drink.
Thank you to Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for my advance copy of this book.
I love a good beach read, but this just didn’t hit the spot for me. I felt like the writing was very simple. Also, there were SEVERAL times in the book where the characters would talk about something, then go somewhere, and then after they would have almost the exact same conversation as before. I thought my kindle was turning pages the wrong direction for a while! The story overall was cute, but I just didn’t love this one. 3.5 stars.
What a delightful read, always enjoyable when the story takes you to a beach. This wonderful book takes place at Cape Cod. The two sisters are, Hannah and Sara. Hannah is single, works and lives in Brooklyn. Sara lives in Cape Cod with her husband and children. The town is Chatham where the sisters grew up. Hannah is a writer and has writers block, so she goes home to see her sister. Hoping being in a different setting will help with her writing.
Hannah has an offer from her aunt to stay with her. The house is right off the ocean front. What a peaceful place to continue writing her book. While there she makes new friends and renews a friendship. This book is a real page-turner. You just want to keep seeing what is going to happen next in the lives of this family and friends.
This is my 2nd Pamela M. Kelly read and now I want to read so many more. Thank you to Pamela, her publishers and NetGalley for the enjoyable read.
I am looking forward to another book from Pamela. As my friend recommends her books all the time.
This was a leisurely, cozy, sweet, introspective, character-driven, comfortable, bookish, beachy, atmospheric, fluffy, Hallmark read. If that sounds like something you’d love, then I definitely recommend this to you! While my own experience wasn’t anything for me to rave about, it is not a reflection of this story, rather that this just wasn’t to my particular reading tastes. I can absolutely see how this author is quite popular in this specific genre, her writing style is very immersive and her characters empathetic. I’m grateful for the opportunity to branch out of my reading comfort zone and try something different, even if it wasn’t something I ended up loving.
Pamela Kelly’s book The Seaside Sisters is a delightful beach read. It focuses on the challenges and romances of three women. Maddie needs space and time apart from her husband. Sara feels unfulfilled and not appreciated. Hannah as a new author struggles with writers block and the end of a two year relationship. During a summer at the beach town, Chatham, they find resolutions and romance blossoms or is rekindled. The reader is introduced to the charming seaside town and its beach, bookstore, coffee shop and downtown stores. The descriptions made me wish I could spend a summer in Chatham. Be sure to add Pamela Kelly’s The Seaside Sisters to the top of your reading list.
Fans of Hallmark movies will enjoy The Seaside Sisters which follows two sisters and their aunt following the death of their mother/sister. I enjoyed the multiple points of view and how the story tied everyone together, along with the picturesque setting. The ending was pretty predictable, but overall this was a cute read.
3.5 stars if I could give a half.
What Pamela M. Kelley can do with a book is unusual. She has the unique ability to add in description of thoughts and actions that may seem every day but are moments in time that will make you say "Hey, I do that!" or "Yes, that's how I do it too!" Before long, the characters seems like best friends and you would swear that Kelley knows you all too well.
In Seaside Sisters, Hannah and Sara are still grieving the death of their mother. Hannah moves temporarily to Chatham, Cape Cod to beat writer's block while her older sister is returning the work force after four children. Join them as they overcome the obstacles we face ourselves, as they look for love, miss their mother and find solace in each other and the beach.
As someone who visits Chatham every summer (twice!) I loved this book and felt like I was right there the whole time. Join Kelley's characters and let me know if they feel like friends of yours when you finish! #TheSeasidesisters #Pamelamkelley #stmartinspress
An enjoyable summer read, with a lovely setting, sympathetic characters and a well-constructed storyline. The only drawback is that it dragged in places.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Another fun beachy read by Pamela Kelley. I found this to be a good read, but very similar to a Denise Hunter book that I just finished too. I enjoyed the stories about the sisters and the aunt to be interesting and easy to follow.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book. It is my first book by this author. And I really enjoyed it. It’s about a young author having trouble eriting her book. So she moves in with her aunt in hopes of finding the momentum to finish her new story. And she does find much much more. I love the ending and would recommend.
The Seaside Sisters
By Pamela M. Kelley
It took me a hot minute to realize, I have been to Chatham before.
The Seaside Sisters focuses on two sisters who were raised in Chatham., MA. Hannah, is a romance writer - who now lives in Brooklyn and Sara, is married with four boys (I feel for you Sara) and still lives in Chatham. There are several other imports characters
that you need to get to know and those people are Spencer, Maddie (Sara and Hannah’s aunt) and Joy.
The theme that is the centre of all of their stories is love. Which is a wonderful theme, however, Hannah has just ended a relationship, Sara is wondering if her husband just doesn’t see her anymore and Maddie needs to know exactly how her husband feels about their marriage. All tough journeys, along with dealing with their own grief of losing a mother and sister just a few short months ago.
From writers block, to a mother who feels the need to do something for herself; sisters Hannah and Sara are going to spend the summer together hoping to grow closer.
Neighbor Joy introduces Hannah to Spencer (Joy’s grandson) but she also has some very good insights she shares with Hannah over the summer months. Through dinners, days writing at the coffee shop and working at the book store and heart to heart discussions Hannah, Sara and Maddie work through the growing pains of loss, love and finding happiness.
It was a joy to see several of the characters from Kelley’s The Bookshop by the Bay int this story. This book moves quickly and I can envision sitting under an umbrella on the beach reading this light contemporary romance.
Thank you to Net Galley, St. Martin’s Griffin and Author Pamela Kelley for the opportunity to read The Seaside Sisters.
This was a great summer read! I started this on vacation, and it was fabulous to read on the beach. I loved the multiple viewpoints and the characters. The setting was fun and I loved the food descriptions. They were vivid and made me feel like I was there with them. This was a great beach read with a lot of heart!
The Seaside Sisters is another great beach read from Pamela Kelley. The Cape Cod setting is filled with real-life details that make me wish I was there, along with characters from her previous books. Romance novelist Hannah decides to leave Brooklyn and return to Chatham to spend the summer with her sister and their aunt, after the passing of their mother. Hannah also needs to finish her new book, and she makes new friends along the way. There was not really anything unexpected about this book, but it was a fun read and I enjoyed it. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Seaside Sisters is a sweet story about Hannah, Sara, and their aunt Maddie after the death of their mother. Hannah is dealing with writers block. While Sara is trying to balanced married life, her sons, and trying to find herself along the way.
I liked the story and real life aspects of it. However, if you are looking a hot romance or a riveting story, it’s not this book.
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.
Special thanks to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book. This book was a cute, quick read.
Wonderful!
Another winner from Pamela Kelley! This is a perfect beach book, especially if you happen to be spending your vacation on Cape Cod. There's many familiar places in the book that are real, and you'll have fun visiting them. But, even if you aren't going further than your living room for a staycation, this book will make you feel the ocean breezes.
It was nice to run into old friends from The Bookshop on the Bay, and getting to know Hannah, Spencer, Sara and Aunt Maddie. There's actually more family relationship vibes than romance in this book, a great balance for women's fiction. Women supporting each other, the men who are in the lives, and the different paths each relationship takes made it very interesting and fun to read. Highly recommend.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
The Seaside Sisters is a delightful summer read that introduces readers to Hannah, a struggling Brooklyn based author, and her sister Sara, a busy stay at home mom living in their hometown of Chatham, Cape Cod. After experiencing a bout of writers block, and a series of personal challenges, Hannah decides to take her family's advice and head home for the summer to stay with her Aunt Maddie. Throughout the summer, Sara and Hannah reconnect with each other, and themselves, as they each navigate what they need to do to find their way. What I loved about this book was that while each character is undergoing their own personal struggles, Pamela Kelley tells their stories in such a way that as a reader I never found it stressful to read. I found myself thinking of each character, mainly Hannah, and wanting to get back to the story to see what unfolded in her life next. While this book also touches on loss, the story telling is just what I prefer in a summer read. Easy to follow storylines, characters that keep you interested, and no stressful suspense lurking around the corner. I would highly recommend this book to readers looking for a easy to enjoy story. Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the advanced copy of this book, all opinions are my own.
