An incredible book with wonderful characters and a beautiful setting. It will keep you guessing until the end.

Seaside Sisters follows the stories of Hannah, an author dealing with writer's block following her mother's passing, her sister Sara as she re-enters the workforce and works on her marriage, and their aunt as she navigates life and marriage. The book presents three different voices and three different but interconnected stories. Unfortunately, the novel did not meet my expectations for a great summer beach read romance. The writing felt dry and formulaic, making it difficult for me to connect with the characters and their stories. The tone was lackluster, the characters were unremarkable, and the romance lacked spark. Descriptions of the world and surroundings overshadowed the character development. While I may give this author another chance based on a previous positive reading experience, this particular book missed the mark for me.

Are you looking for a beach read? Yes? Perfect! Pamela Kelley has a new book out called The Seaside Sisters - and it takes place in Chatham, Cape Cod in the summer!

Hannah has had great success with her first book. But she's having trouble with the follow up book. Her personal life and health are not in a good place either. When her Aunt invites her to come for the summer, she jumps at the opportunity.

Hannah is the lead character and is quite likable - as is the case for most of the characters. There are players from all ages and stages of life. Kelley gives them all 'issues' to be worked through. And the endings for all are satisfying.

The settings are well drawn and detailed. The bookshop was my favorite. :0) There's quite a few restaurants and a number of get togethers. The food and drink are detailed as well.

The book is somewhat predictable, but that was the draw for me - a book I could take my time with.

The perfect book to tuck in your beach bag.

This was delightful and just what I needed during this fast pace summer with never ending chores and life.
I highly recommend you grab this on your way to any vacation or just lounging on the patio with a nice tall beverage of your choosing.
I really need to invest some time on the backlist of books from Pamela I really enjoy her writing.

My thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first book by this author, but it won't be my last. I will add her to the must-read summer books because of the lovely setting in Chatham, Cape Cod. This book follows two sisters and their aunt as they traverse life difficulties. While I expected the feel-good and self-discovery aspects of this book, there were many bumpy roads getting there. I really enjoyed this one!

This is a book I should have loved, and I did like it, but I think it was too close to the loss of my own mother so I think that muted it for me. That being said I loved the relationship between the sisters, and their aunt. I loved the setting as well. Overall a solid read!

This is a charming romance told from the alternating perspective of the main characters. It is full of emotion and family drama as they each navigate through the loss of a dear one and their relationship with their significant others. I liked that the relationship between Hannah and Spencer took on a natural course. It mimicked most relationships in life and was refreshing to read. I liked the characters but didn't feel a deep connection to them. I related to Sara the most and loved it when she took a week of "momcation". I thought that was very clever! I enjoyed reading the names of my favorite authors sprinkled throughout the book since the women had literary ties of some sort. I also found myself feeling hungry while reading the descriptions of all the delicious foods they ate, and they ate a lot in this story. This book is a great beach read!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I love Cape Cod, so a book that is set in Chatham is off to a great start. I had read Bookshop By The Bay by this author and it was nice to “catch up” with some of the characters from that book. I think this story is very similar to that story, but it was an enjoyable read

Hannah's first book has done well but she can't seem to get her second book off the ground, writer's block is definitely holding her back. She decides a semi-vacation at her aunts house in Chatham, Cape Cod along with visiting her sister Sara is just what she needs. Sara is looking forward to the time with her sister, as a mother of four her life revolves around her family and she is starting to feel like her needs don't matter. The two take on new journeys throughout the summer dealing with new love, romance, new friends as well as old. Will the journeys they take turn into happy endings and blessings or will things remain the same in the end?

Pamela Kelly never disappoints; her books are always fun reads, and The Seaside Sisters is no exception. Set in Chatham Mass, the book follows sisters Hannah and Sara as they navigate through personal challenges. They have recently lost their mother and memories of her are everywhere. Sara is the busy mother of 4, Hannah is a writer with writers block, and when an invitation comes to spend the summer back home in Chatham, she eagerly packs up and leaves New York. Throw in the expected romance, and you have the makings of a perfect summer red. Recommended for all public libraries.

The Seaside Sisters by Pamela M. Kelley is a family-centered romance set in a small beach town near Cape Cod. This will make a great beach read this summer!

Hannah Brewster is an author living in Brooklyn, with a recent break-up and her mother's passing, she's having extreme writer's block with a deadline looming. When her Aunt Maddie offers to let her stay at her home on the Cape for the summer, Hannah takes her up on it. Maybe a change of scenery will help, and she'll be able to spend time with Maddie and Sara, her sister.

Sara Ellis is a married mom of four boys, looking to give herself a sense of purpose other than taking care of house and home. An ex-librarian, she gave up her job when the first boy was born and now that the youngest is in school, she needs more. When she gets a part-time job at the local bookstore, her husband Tom doesn't understand her desire to share her love of books with the customers.

This is definitely a feel-good romance centered around family and books. When Hannah keeps getting put into situations with Spencer, a high school crush, at first she isn't happy about it but they soon open up to each other. Will they be able to overcome their differences? The characters are all likeable and well-developed, from the main characters to the barista at the coffee shop. The way the characters build relationships and interact with each other is true to life, nothing is overly dramatic or unbelievable. And what reader doesn't want to read about a writer, librarian/bookstore employee, and a literary agent?

All in all, this was a great, feel-good story about family, friendship, relationships, and books. If you enjoy a happily ever after, close-knit families, and relatable characters, then you will enjoy this novel.

Thank you to @StMartinsPress and @NetGalley for a digital copy for review consideration. All opinions are honest and my own.

This is an easy going beach read that shares a family's grief, several relationship dynamics and struggles with a little romance. It was a little slow at times, but a good book.

Thank you to St Martin's Press | St Martin's Griffin for providing an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Hannah and Sara grew up in Chatham on Cape Cod. As sisters they are close but Hannah moved to Brooklyn and Sara stayed in Chatham. After their mother died, Hannah knew she was struggling and decided to come home to the Cape for the summer.

Hannah is single and is a writer. She is currently working on her second book, but is struggling with writer’s block. The summer season on the Cape is quite busy and Hannah knew it would be a good place for her to move forward. Her sister Sara is married and has four boys, all into sports and other activities. She is ready for a new challenge and wants to work with books part time.

There are some great scenes in the book at the beach and in the vacation town of Chatham. I enjoyed reading about the adventure looking at the whales, seals and even the shark. I enjoyed that the sisters and other friends went out and did fun things. I liked how Hannah learned more about the law in order to grow her characters. I really liked Spencer. I love how Sara knew she needed an identity outside the home and found one. Really all the characters were awesome.

What was troublesome for me were some of the longer explanations that I felt were not needed, such as explaining the Cornhole game and the long and tedious explanations about the food and wine pairing. (Can you tell I am not a foodie?), but I am sure there must be other people who found those scenes interesting.

I did like how the book ended and wrapped up. I enjoyed how the characters had to do self discovery to find their way forward. The Seaside Sisters by Pamela Kelley will appeal to those beach readers.
