The Seaside Sisters by Pamela M. Kelley is a great choice for a sweet summer read. I had forgot I had this book until I was at the beach looking for something to read. Perfect! It’s a feel good book with lovely characters and a quick and easy read perfect for a day at the beach with a glass (or bottle) of wine! I love the cover and the setting and she just brings it to life and I want to go there and hang out with these people!
Author Hannah Brewster is having a hard time writing her second novel. The first is a huge success, but, after dealing with a personal loss, she is suffering from writer’s block. Although she loves her home in Brooklyn, New York, she realizes a change in scenary might jump start her writing. She heads to her home town of Chatham, Cape Cod where her sister and aunt still reside. Her aunt is more than happy for her to spend a few weeks at her home.
Hannah falls right into life in Chatham. Besides giving her more time to be with family, she’s making new friends and she’s feeling carefree. Every morning she heads to the local coffee shop with her laptop and gets in a few hours of writing. It’s all working out beautifully.
She meets up with an old friend, Spencer, and their relationship takes off in ways they hadn’t anticipated. As the end of summer approaches, Hannah is prepared to return to Brooklyn, but is her heart really in it?
This is the perfect start of beach read season for me. The author immediately transported me to Cape Cod. I felt like I was right by Hannah’s side and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Last year at this time, I read another book by this author titled The Bookshop By the Bay. I enjoyed that one and I feel the same way about this one. There were a couple of characters from that book that appeared in this one, but each book is a standalone. There are no carryover type of situations or anything like that.
This story is filled with emotions, family relationships and realistic characters. This book is a real “slice of life” giving readers true to life situations. There’s a sweet romance, too. It’s a “feel good” type of read. I’ll be looking for more by this author.

I love a good summer romance set in a seaside town. I can not recommend Seaside Sisters by Pamela M. Kelley. I did enjoy the mention of actual bars, restaurants and inns in Chatham Massachusetts. Sadly, that’s where my enjoy meant ended. I was disappointed in the dialogue and the lack of character development. I did not care about the characters and there was no chemistry between Hannah and Spencer,. The drama in Sara’s marriage as well her aunt’s marriage was very easily resolved. There are many better choices for a good summer read.
The Seaside Sisters is a good beach read. It is not complicated and there are no unexpected twists and turns. Hannah and Sara are sisters. Hannah is a best selling author and Sara is a stay at home mom. Hannah is having trouble writing her new novel and returns to the Cape where she grew up, staying with her aunt. Sara lives on the Cape. She misses the challenge of a satisfying job and takes a job at the local bookstore. Hannah finds love and Sara finds fulfillment and satisfaction. The writing seemed simplistic and it is not a riveting story but it is a good read for a laid back summer at the beach.
The Seaside Sisters by Pamela Kelly ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am always excited when Pamela Kelley has a new book. This was an wonderful, emotional, beach read.
Hannah, a NY based author returns home for the summer to spend time with her sister Sara and Aunt Maddie following the death of their mother.
Sara is a stay-at-home mother of 4 boys who takes a part-time job at a book store.
Aunt Maddie grieving the loss of her sister while separated from her husband.
Makes me long for summers on the Cape!
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and highly recommend it.
A DELIGHTFUL & HEARTWARMING BOOK
Hannah is a bestselling author stuck trying to write her second book. She decides to take her aunt up on an offer to spend the summer at her oceanfront beach house in Chatham, Cape Cod, where she grew up. Hannah will be close to her sister, Sara, and four nephews. Their Mom has recently died, so it will be good for them to spend time with each other. These three women are of different ages and at various stages in their lives, and they are facing major decisions that will change their courses for the rest of their lives. They are two sisters and an aunt, but they quickly became “sisters” over the summer. The author has developed an excellent cast of characters to support these three vibrant women, who serve as encouragers, sounding boards, and true confidants. This time becomes one of introspection for each woman, and by summer’s end, they have each made significant decisions for their futures. The summer by the sea has surrounded these “sisters” with family, love (rekindled and new), friendships, renewed work goals, and exciting future views! Seaside Sisters is a delightful and heartwarming book, and I highly recommend it!

If you read The Bookshop By the Bay, you'll be happy with Ms. Kelley's return to Chatham, MA and many of the same characters.
As The Seaside Sisters opens, we meet Hannah, a writer who's living in Brooklyn, NY and under pressure to complete her second novel while struggling with the end of a relationship and the recent death of her mother. What better to do than return to Chatham and the comfort of being with her remaining family members, her sister, Sara, and her Aunt Maddie.
Sara never left Chatham and is dealing with the pressures of her life as a SAHM of young sons and a husband who's more focused on his career than his family. Her character was developed nicely and I hope we see more of her if this series continues.
I'd describe The Seaside Sisters as a cozy romance - it's an easy read, occasionally predictable, and often entertaining, especially if you like books set in beachside communities.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read The Seaside Sisters in exchange for an honest review.
I am not usually a contempary romance kind of gal but this one. wow this one really pulled me in and I couldn't seem to put it down.
I love how the story was based on an author as well. I love a good book that talks about books lol
she escapes the city to help her creative juices flow but little did she know what would be of her summer and on the cape that would soon be waiting for her.
such a beautiful story, I love that it talked about the trials of marriage, motherhood, and losing a parent.
the seaside sisters stole my heart and I know it could steal yours too. high recommend this book.

Me. Yes, me. This story could be my friends when we were their ages. Countless times I've asked why aren't there books written about me. Today, I found one.
There is no foul language.
Reasonable and responsible adults ironically adulting -- sisters with an opportunity that I believe is unique, they get to spend the summer in a cottage. The synopsis is spot on with their issues and problems. The story is told in a healthy manner. This won't solve problems, nor give advice, and the main character isn't trying to outsmart the locals. Two women, their kids, jobs, and husbands live life and Kelly captures the day-to-day musings -- beautifully.
Nice, easy, feel good read. I would recommend.
What a delightful book this was! After reading serious suspense for awhile, one enjoys a story that doesn't contain someone being chased or killed. This is a book that is to be enjoyed and savored. The story line moves along at a nice pace ad the characters are likeable. You know how it will end, and you enjoy getting there with the characters. In reading about the author, she is a foodie and it shows in her book. Sometimes I got a belly ache just reading what they had for dinner. But that was all part of the charm of this book. You can read about all the food and not gain an ounce.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions are my own.
The Seaside Sisters is a lovely standalone story by Pamela M. Kelley although it does have significant ties in location and secondary characters as her earlier novel The Bookshop by the Bay.
Sisters Sarah Brewster Ellis and Hannah Brewster have been close despite their five year age difference and their distance in location with Hannah in Brooklyn and Sarah still living in their hometown of Chatham on Cape Cod. Sarah is a busy stay at home mother of four active sons and Hannah is a romance author currently experiencing writer’s block. They recently suffered the loss of their mother and each is coming to terms with the loss in different ways. With Hannah’s block, her Aunt Maddie suggests coming to the cape for the summer and staying with her at her ocean front home. Needing a change of scenery and looking forward to spending time with her sister and aunt, it is an easy decision to make.
As each of the three ladies are undergoing their own difficulties the story unfolds. With a cast of lovely characters in a beautiful beachfront setting, this was a satisfying read. I did enjoy this story and I do recommend it.
I received a free copy of the ARC from the publisher and NetGalley for my honest opinion. I have always wanted to read one of Pamela Kelley's books and for 1 reason or another I never got to until I read the Seaside Sisters. I really enjoyed this book that was about family, relationships and just life in general. It was an enjoyable quick fun read. This story dealt with 2 sister and their Aunt who recently lost their mother and sister and dealing with the emotions that go along with it. I am so glad I finally read one of Pamela Kelley's book and I just can't wait to read more. thank you NetGalley.
I enjoyed reading The Seaside Sisters by Pamela M. Kelley. You will fall in love with all the characters. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely. Happy Reading!
Although I love a good thriller in the summer, sometimes a cozy, sister story is just so delightful. In Pamela Kelly’s The Seaside Sisters, we meet Hannah, a successful author who is plagued by writers block as she works on her new novel. She thinks maybe a change of scenery is just the thing she needs to get her creativity back on track. She decides to leave the city and decamp to her aunt/literary agent seaside house in her home town of Chatham. Hannah’s sister, Sara, is a mom and wife who has been so busy taking care of everyone else that she’s lost herself. Hannah and Sara’s aunt, Maddie, has a side story as well. After years of marriage she finds herself separated from her husband and struggling to determine what comes next for her relationship. Over the summer, the women find strength in themselves, each other and need friendships as they navigate their respective next steps. There is a touch of romance, but not overly saccharine. Although it was set in a beach town, the setting had more of a cozy, bookish vibe which I really enjoyed. Think coffee shops and book stores, but with sun and sand in the background! It is certainly a light read, but it was enjoyable and sweet and would be perfect to throw in a beach bag this summer. Thank you to Net Galley, St. Martin’s Press and the author for the opportunity to advance read this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
So much can change in a summer.
The Seaside Sisters is a perfect New England summer read. Some romance, sister relationships, books and food. It was a well written easy read.
Hannah is a Brooklyn based author who is struggling with writers block after the loss of her mother. Her sister Sara is a stay at home mom of four children who was once a librarian and is looking to dip her toes back into the workforce. Hannah’s aunt Maddie is a literary agent living in Hannah’s hometown of Chatham, Cape Cod. She invites Hannah to stay the summer in her beautiful oceanfront home in hopes to find her writing groove again. Once the three women are reunited, it’s a beautiful story of friendship as they each overcome their own personal challenges.
I absolutely adored the Seaside Sisters. I was really intrigued by the quintessential beach read that this book is. It’s the perfect book to snag in your beach bag this summer.
This title released on June 4, 2024.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Pamela M. Kelley and St. Martin’s Press for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hannah is a writer suffering from writers block. She is single, lives in Brooklyn, recently broke up with her boyfriend, and also lost her mother just weeks before. Her sister Sara still lives in their hometown of Chatham, Cape Cod. Sara is just going back to work at a local bookstore for the first time after having children. Her husband doesn't support her work and she finds herself working and then coming home to take care of her family on her own as well. Hannah goes to Chatham to spend the summer with her Aunt Maddie and have some time to focus on writing. During her summer at the Cape she makes new friends, meets a special man, and enjoys time with her sister and aunt. Sara also has time over the summer to reevaluate her life and connect more with her sister.
I wanted to read The Seaside Sisters because I enjoy beach reads, and enjoyed a previous book by Pamela M. Kelley.
I liked this book a lot too. The characters were likable and relatable, the small town beach setting was cozy and inviting, and I really cared about what happened to Hannah, Sara, their Aunt Maddy, and Hannah's potential beau Spencer. The pacing of the story is perfect, with short chapters and a leisurely pace. It is truly a perfect beach read.
I recommend The Seaside Sisters for fans of beach reads, women's fiction, and summer/beach settings. I look forward to next year's summer book by Pamela M. Kelley!
It is finally warming up and starting to feel like summer so perfect time for a beach read. I really enjoyed this book. Hannah needs a break from the big city and is hoping o cure her writer's block so she decides to spend the summer with her family where she grew up in Chatham Cape Cod. Then throw in some romance, old friends, new friends and Cape Cod food and you have a solid beach read. Thank you NetGalley and Pamela Kelley for this ARC.
This book did not work for me. The writing didn't flow very well, and I didn't really understand what the story was about. It read as more of a daily journal than a novel. There were too many characters introduced that came in and out of the story so fleetingly (and unnecessarily) that I was confused by their appearance. Had I met them before? Why are they part of this story?
That being said, the descriptions of Cape Cod were well done, but that's all I enjoyed. I wouldn't personally recommend this to any of my friends. If you want good summer seaside stories, try Elin Hilderbrand instead.

Hannah loves Brooklyn, but when she gets writers block and her deadline is approaching she decided to head home to Cape Cod to be around her aunt and sister Sara. The only problem is the heartache of her mom’s passing is more real in her hometown.
Hannah quickly finds herself settling into a new normal living by the beach, writing at the local coffee shop and meeting new friends. She especially has enjoyed spending time with Spencer a local lawyer that is heavily connected with the community.
Sara uses to be a Librarian and now that her four boys are in school she is finding herself wanting to work. She ends up working at the local bookstore, but it causes a rife in her marriage. Can her family overcome her work life?
