When I applied for this book on the NetGalley app I did it with the thought that my little boy will be very impressed to discover the wonders that West Cost is hiding and it really was. Let’s Explore the Beach! by Karen DeWitz is a fun and engaging resource for young adventurers and families who explore the shores along the West Coast, but but we who live in Europe can only enjoy the images offered by the book.
This is a great visual guide to the Pasific coastal wildlife. Filled with color photos and fascinating facts, the book is divided into three sections: tide pools, shoreline, and shorebirds. Each section offers details on a range of wildlife and other coastal treasures. The images are large and show the wonderful details. This grab-and-go field resource focuses on the amazing creatures and plants along the Pacific Coast. The amazing photographs, fun facts and informative descriptions give a touch of originality to this book.
From the little ones to the big ones interested in nature and who want to discover much more about coastal tidepools will love this book. I would like to have this book in physical format in the library. It also fits perfectly to be the gift for a person who adores nature and everything related to it.

I highly recommend it to all those who wish to discover the magic of the wild coast of the Pacific.
Thank you to NetGallery and Little Bigfoot for the temporary ARC that I received in return for my honest review.

This was a great, informational book to read with my kiddos who have never been to the beach. Lots of good pictures and interesting details that will interest kids of all ages.

Basically, a field guide for budding naturalists in particular and those who enjoy photographic learning at a non-collegiate level in general regardless of whether they live in the Pacific Northwest, the great Plains, the Great Lakes, the Atlantic shores, or the Gulf coast! It's a wonderful feast for the eyes and intellect regardless of age with the amazing photos of Pacific coastal wildlife and more!
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Sasquatch Books/Little Bigfoot via NetGalley. Thank you!

A Young Naturalist’s Guide to Pacific Coastal Wildlife by Karen DeWitz is an absolute gem. I have searched for a long time for text geared to youth and now it's here. DeWitz brought the beautiful animals of the tide pools to life with amazing images and detailed explanations of their appearance, adaptations, habitat, reproduction, food, range, and numerous interesting facts. As someone who has gone to the shores during low tide hundreds of times, I even learned about animals that I am yet to spot. Still, this guide is not just about tide pools, it also includes awesome marine mammals, otters, seals, and birds of the Pacific shores. This should be a must-have text in every science classroom across the country. Perfect Earth Day resource!

This is a great visual guide to the Pacific coastal wildlife. We life in Northern California and can see pretty much all of the creatures mentioned in this book locally. It was really interesting reading it and recognizing all the creatures we saw from our last tide pools trip and learning more about them. The photos are large and glossy and show amazing detail. The text is full of interesting tidbits of information. It is laid out in an easy to read, easy to understand way.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Little Bigfoot for providing an early copy for review.
