I feel like this book did not read exactly how I thought it would based on the description. It was an interesting read, however, but I do not feel like I am the target audience for it. I thought it would be more like a present-day, while Rand was actively trying to get sober, instead of a guidebook for how others can battle "the war of sober". I think this book could help people who are trying to get sober, and it felt like a guidebook with Rand's tips and actions to follow. I would not recommend this to any reader who is interested in someone's story on getting sober, but I would recommend this to someone who is trying to get sober. Additionally, Rand had a very distinct and unique voice that I appreciated throughout the book. He has a no-bullshit attitude and is telling you everything straight up. I did enjoy learning about Rand's history and experiences, and wish we had more of that in the book!
