This is a good book. The two main characters are Lexi and Dash. Lexi is a photographer. Dash is in a band. Lexi goes with her best friend to see a band playing that has her best friend’s brother playing the drums. While back stage Lexi sees Dash singing. There is an instant attraction. The band invites Lexi to go on tour as their photographer, she agrees to. She starts dating Dash. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
This is a perfect fit for readers who crave a lighthearted, humorous romance with a dash of rock 'n' roll flair, as it combines witty banter, sizzling chemistry, and a touch of drama, making it a delightful escape for fans of music, romance, and laughter.
If I promise to play nice. My first encounter with L.P. Maxa was through Play Nice, and I must say that it was quite the treat. She quickly made me a Devil's Share fan. I was smitten with those gorgeous band members and couldn't get enough of them. This was a quick, tasty, guilty-pleasure read. Sure, a bit cheesy at times and predictable, but just the kind of comfort book I needed. The fact that this is a series and I get to spend more time with them excites me much. There was instant and strong connection between Lexi and Dash. She was sidestage with her best friend, Amy, when Dash first saw her during a performance.
They had come to meet Luke, Amy's younger brother, who plays the drums. Despite not knowing who she was, Dash, the main singer, flirted with her in front of hundreds of spectators while holding a microphone. I dissolved into a puddle with her and both of them. I mean, everyone knows what a manwhore he is. He had a deadly appeal, and there was no cootie shot to save her. Upon directing it at Lexi, rationality vanished from the building, leaving her with only the hope that he would 'play nice' and her heart would endure the ordeal.
Then I got to meet him. That lovely animal. He won my heart and made me feel protective of him, especially when he was displaying his. He looked great with his headphones on, I bet. Yes, I would like to add my name to the list of people who can come stay with me overnight. You're probably attempting to identify the seductive beast I'm talking about. I will not reveal it to you, though. All I'll leave you with is something to anticipate. I don't want to be the only one in need of a fast fix because I have an itchy clicker. Perhaps if we show Chase our boobs, he'll let us backstage (wink-wink).
Unfortunately my review of this book is not positive. I was bored, could not engage with the storyline or the characters.
I started reading this book and enjoyed it until after the 4th chapter, there was a scene that I found triggering, and did not know it had specific scenes included. If I'd known, I would not have asked to review.
It was really good up until that point and I'm sure it would have continued to be if not for that scene.
Not sure how this book ended up in my account, but I read it so fast. My only complaint is that it was so short. I went and downloaded the rest of the series as soon as I was done!
Sadly, the original review I submitted disappeared, and now that I'm trying to redo it a month later, this review won't go as in depth as the original one. *sigh*
Anyhow, I happened to love this book, as cheesy as it was. It was lighthearted, with plenty of humor sprinkled throughout. I'm always down for dual-POV, & the smut scenes were pretty hawt. But the aspect I enjoyed the most was the humor, hands down.
"What is it about you? You make me want to be better, be different."
So, huge long-time rockstar romance lover here. So how the hell did I miss this author and this series all these years? I mean, this book, the first in the series, was published in 2015! There are six books here and a follow-up series with another nine and I just discovered them last week. This is like a giant Christmas present!
Ok, now let's talk about Play Nice. It was fantastic. My only complaint is that it was too short. I didn't want it to end. Lexi is such a fantastic heroine, everything I could ask for. And Dash! Oh yea! I fell head over heels for him in the first six chapters. Seriously, where's mine?
I'm not going to discuss the plot. The blurb already says everything you need to know. Besides, the plot isn't what's important. The true beauty and enjoyment in the book is with the people. And not just Dash and Lexi. There are so many wonderful people in this book and I can't wait to read more. I've already bought the Devil's Share box set so I'm all set. I literally can't wait!!!

This book was short and easy to read with amazing characters. I liked the chemistry between Lexi and Dash and the rest of the group. I liked lexi and Dash's relationship, it was cute. However, the book was way too fast for me. Lexi and Dash had a make out session the night of their first meeting. There was no wooing whatsoever. Dash just literally changed over night. Basically, there was no drama. I didn't even get what I was promised in the synopsis

This book was an amazing, easy read and you'd like it if you're a fan of this genre
Loved This Rock Romance
I loved every minute of this romantic and steamy rock romance. Lexi’s best friend, Luke, had just joined The Devils Share as their drummer. Dash, the lead singer, was smitten by Lexi the very first time he saw her but he finds out right away that Lexi was not about one-night stands and Dash is trying to come to terms dealing with the closeness of Luke and Lexi.
I loved watching Lexi bond with the band as she is hired to be the band’s photographer and heads out on tour with them. The connection that Dash and Lexi form is electric and burns up the pages. The storyline in this book made it a huge page turner for me. I can’t wait to read more on the guys in the band.
I have enjoyed this series. The characters are well-developed and the situations they find themselves in are realistic - plus I love rockstar romances! 🎵🎸❤️🎤🎵

This is my first time ever reading a rockstar romance novel and i have to say this book did not disappoint me.
It's totally amazing. I like the romance between Dash and Lexi.
Amazing story.
I would like to thank the author for the ARC.
ARC REVIEW (thanks NETGALLEY!)
I’ll try my damndest to “play nice” with this review.
I dnf 20% in. The story seems very immature and boring. FMC was 27 and acted like she was 15. Idk how old MMC was but he’s a Grammy award winning rockstar who lives on a tour bus. Within minutes of meeting he tells fmc “what is it about you? You make me want to be better, be different” 🙄 They sleep (literally sleep) together the first night on the tour bus because she’s nOT tHAT kiND of GiRl, but in the morning basically trades him a handjob for an extra hour of sleep lmaooo. It was just too insta love and cringe for my taste.
Play Nice by new to me author L.P. Maxa, is a sexy rockstar romance. The two main characters, lead singer Dash Conner and photographer Lexi Grant, have amazing chemistry both in and out of the bedroom. They both learn how a relationship works as their love evolves. Overall, a well-written story and I will definitely red more from this author.
I cannot say this book was good but somehow I could not put it down. My biggest complaint is that the pacing of the plot felt off everything moved really quickly. Also the way the characters acted just seemed so odd. While it was entertaining a lot of the characters actions did not seem like something a real person would do.
Truly enjoyed this book from cover to cover. I enjoyed the characters and their interactions, and really loved Dagger! Plot had a great mix of spice, romance, and spunk that kept me turning the page.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
