This was tangled web of intrigue and mystery but also felt busy in places too. I had a feeling I knew who was the helper and it didn't disappoint.

This was a great story with so many twists and turns that you don't know who you can trust or is Becky going mad. There are some brilliant hooks in there to trip you up.

Once a respected police officer, Becky's life unravels as she loses her job, home, and marriage after reporting her husband, John, for a grave crime—only for him to remain on the force unpunished. Determined to bring John to justice, Becky delves into uncovering incriminating evidence, shocked by the revelations about the man she once loved.

Seeking support from former colleagues and friends Hannah and Charlie, Becky pursues her mission with unwavering resolve, despite their initial hesitation. While the story unfolds in a suspenseful manner, some readers may find Becky's narrative repetitive, prompting a desire for a faster pace.

This is another incredibly addictive read by Alice Hunter!
The story is a difficult read in places due to the nature of the crimes involved but it is a book that was so well written and with such relatable characters that it was pretty much unputdownable and I found the pages were speeding past as I fed my need to know who exactly was involved!
The author has written this book with, I feel, a great degree of sensitivity. Yes, these crimes are hard to read about but they were not sensationalised in any way just used to tell the story. As a survivor I found it interesting how some people justified covering for the Bad Apple of the title even knowing or suspecting what he was doing. This is definitely a book that we hope was not inspired by real events!

As with her previous books, there was the after the end couple of pages with an OMG twist/quirk to the story which is what keeps me coming back to her books each time there is a new one and that will continue as long as more come!

Bad Apple by Alice Hunter is a propulsive read that had me tearing through the pages.

Becky Lawson's ex-husband John is a policeman who is a very bad apple, though, in this case, the description is a gross understatement. Reporting him, but to no avail, Becky decides to take matters into her own hands and hunts him down, determined to bring him to justice. Becky must proceed with caution, however, as John is not the only source of evil that lurks in the shadows.

I flew through this one, firmly invested in Becky's unflinching determination to hold wicked and immoral behaviour accountable. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an ARC.

A clever and gripping story full of twists which I enjoy. A little bit too much detail with the sex scenes but, otherwise a good thriller. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

As a member of the police force, when Becky learns her police husband is a rapist, she turns him in. It soon becomes a story about protecting their own, and everyone turns on Becky and she leaves the police. But she is determined her husband will pay for his crimes and seeks vengeance. But he is not the only bad apple.
I was expecting to be wowed by this book after reading the blurb and previous books by Alice Hunter, but this one didn’t hold my interest and fell a bit flat. A little surreal in places and overlooking the obvious basics in police work.

This was my second book by this author and I was excited to jump in. I was a bit disappointed. I feel that some parts were improbable and far fetched. I did however think it was well written and had a good amount of characters and suspense. I will continue to read more from this author. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.

Absolutely loved this book, was desperate to get to the end to find out how it finished and I wasn’t disappointed.

The book follows and is told from the POV of Becky. She is an ex Police detective leaving the force under a dark cloud when she tries to instigate an investigation into her ex husband. She discovers he has raped a vulnerable girl and is convinced it wasn’t the first or the last time.

The book explores the very topical issue of members of the Police force committing horrible crimes and women not being believed.
As she digs further to try and find evidence of his crimes she puts herself and others further at risk.

The plot was well thought out and I couldn’t wait to see if her ex faced justice. She was a relatable character and I liked and admired her tenacity to get to the truth even if it ruined her own life again.

Bad Apple was such a page turner! It started off intensely and immediately drew me in. I was so frustrated on Becky’s behalf with everything she had to go through to try to get justice! This book had surprises all the way to the last page and I enjoyed every bit of it.

We know all the stories about bad people in our police forces but what if this one is your husband and what happens if no one believes you and he has too many friends in high places for you to get justice. Can you really just walk away knowing what it is he has done but will finding the truth end up with you being hurt. This is an exciting read about power and abuse.

Alice Hunter is by far my favourite author, all her work has astounded me and I have been gripped from the very first page. Bad Apple basically had me absorbed in this novel and I loved it.

Quite hard to read at some points as it does involve sensitive subject matter but a really good book.

We meet main character Becky, once a police woman and married to John a police man, seemingly happy until Becky finds a burner phone hidden by John and Becky realises that the man she is married to is a rapist and she sets out to find the truth.

He in turn, ruins her, gets her sacked from the job she loves and out of their shared home. Becky is now living in a run down part of the city in a not very desirable location with a neighbour who she thinks is abusing his partner.

Becky is adamant on getting proof of who John really is and his awful behaviour and when she learns that he is living with a new girlfriend and her daughter, well Becky has an urge to rescue the woman.

This book floored me, brilliant story telling and Alice Hunter has done it again.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for allowing me a ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I am a fan of Alice Hunter's previous books so was very excited to jump in Bad Apple. I can tell you right now it certainly did not disappoint. A non stop thrill ride from start to finish, I could not put this one down for more than a few minutes. It was engaging with terrific character development and a gritty story line. Police corruption is always an interesting topic and Bad Apple was no exception. Not knowing who you could trust in this story was a key element to dissecting everyone and everything, and yet I did not work it out until the very last chapter. Put this on your list immediately it is a fantastic book that will keep you reading long into the night.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for this early reading copy it is one I will highly recommend.

Fast paced and tight storytelling. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. A woman turns her husband in after she finds out he’s not who she thought he was, but then she has to deal with the fact that he doesn’t get the punishment she thinks he deserved. The twist was really good too. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I was biting my nails throughout Bad Apple by Alice Hunter. From the opening pages, I was nervous and anxious. What do you do when you know your husband is pure evil on the inside but shows a different side to the world?

Of course you’d go to the police, but what if said husband IS the police? That is the premise for this nerve-wracking book that features a truly horrible man and his ex-wife who doesn’t know where to turn or who she can trust when it comes to the crimes of her ex.

Synopsis:

Trusted officer. Family man. Monster? What would you do if you found out the man you loved was rotten to the core?

Becky Lawson’s life has been shattered. When she discovered her husband, John – a trusted policeman – was a monster, she reported him. But her faith in the system was crushed when it didn’t lead to any charges or consequences.

Now, John lives freely with a new girlfriend and her young daughter, while Becky battles guilt over missing the obvious signs. Determined for justice, Becky hunts him down. But John wants her silenced – at any cost. Becky knows only one of them can survive, and she’ll do anything to make sure it’s her.

Becky must tread carefully though, because John isn’t the only bad apple lurking in the shadows…

This is out now!
