Storm is one of my favorite Marvel characters. Once I found out there was a full length novel featuring her, I didn’t hesitate to request the arc. Overall, it was an adequate story, but fell short of my expectations. I did enjoy the portrayal of her backstory and the depiction of the characters around her. While I enjoyed the unexpected addition of T’Challa, the relationship disappointed me. It fell into the increasingly YA trap of rushing a relationship when it should develop gradually. Especially given Storm’s background, I would expect more hesitation on her part. The pace does keep the reader on the edge of their seat. I felt as if I was running alongside them. Again, though I wish the author leaned more into the slow moments and savored them. T’Challa, having leapt over from reading the comics, where he is a richly detailed character felt underdeveloped. If I were to give it a rating, it would be 3.5 stars.

Phenomenal book! Love Tiffany D Jackson’s writing style. I thoroughly enjoyed this book & would recommend this book to everyone..

Before she was the super hero Storm of Marvel's X-Men, she was Ororo of Cairo—a teenaged thief on the streets of Egypt, until her growing powers catch the eye of a villain who steals people's souls.
This was, unsurprisingly, fantastic. Tiffany D. Jackson is one of the best writers out there and she does the character of Storm so much justice.

Before she was storm, she was Ororo
a street rat from Cairo. After her parent's were killed, Ororo was brought into the streets taught how to blend in, to steal. Within her is a secret that attracts the attention of the Shadow king and she has to go on a journey to find her mother's family to get rid of her secret, to outrun the Shadow king.
I have been a fan of the Xmen since the early 90's cartoon and Storm has been my favorite ever since. So getting to read a book about her early life was something I could not pass up. Tiffany D. Jackson brought an origin story that I had always wanted for this powerful character.
Ororo's early life starts off sadly with the death of her parents. She grew up on the streets learning to steal and hide. Her brother's are there for her but do not appreciate that she is a better thief than they are. She's also able to warn them when weather changes and even creates a sand storm. Because of this she attracts the attention of the Shadow king who wants to use her for her new power.
Ororo goes on a journey from Cairo to Kenya. Along the way she befriends a young man that plays a major part in Ororo's life. He's another favorite of mine and it made me so happy that he was included in this novel.
Ororo is like many young women thinking they are not enough and want to hide from the world. The journey is an opportunity for Ororo to discover who she is and what she is capable of.
This is a great glimpse into the woman that Ororo will turn into. Tiffany has such care with the story that she is telling. You can tell that this is a book of love for the author. I am glad I was given an ARC of Storm: Dawn of a Goddess. Thanks to Netgalley and Random House children's publishing for this ARC.
This is a must read for Marvel and Storm fans. I cannot recommend this enough.

Since I was a little girl I have always loved Marvel and Dc comics, shows, and characters. My favorite character has and will always be Storm from X-men. I saw her as powerful, beautiful, and unstoppable. As a little girl I thought I could be Storm. Nevertheless, when I saw Tiffany D. Jackson was going to be writing a book about Storm, I was beyond ecstatic and ready to fight for an Arc. Thank you Netgalley and Random House Children's publishing :) This book was amazing. Tiffany gave us the origin story for Ororo(Storm) that we needed. She allowed us to take a beautiful journey across Africa with Ororo, as she is racing against time to find a community of people who look like her. She hopes that these people will be able to help her understand her gift and protect her from what is hunting her down. Along her journey to find her people, Ororo will encounter a young prince who will join her most of the journey. Just a hint this prince is my second favorite character in the marvel universe but I will let you read to figure out who that is. This story ultimately is realizing that no matter how different or gifted you are, you are enough. People will always talk and or look at you but once you love who you are , it doesn't matter what others say. Once you accept your greatness, others around you have no choice but to do the same. GO READ IT .
All opinions are honest and my own. I received this ARC via Netgalley.

Tiffany D. Jackson has been an autobuy author for me ever since I read “Monday’s Not Coming,” so as soon as I saw that she was releasing a new novel, I knew I absolutely had to get my hands on it.
For me not to know too much about Storm’s character and background, I felt that I was able to easily understand who she was by the end of the novel. I thoroughly enjoyed Jackson’s take on Storm’s character, make it a very quick and easy read for me. I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Thank you Random House Children’s and NetGalley for giving me early access to this novel in exchange for an honest review!

There's something about Tiffany D. Jackson's writing style that really clicks with me. I always find her books so engrossing and easy to read. I went into this story not knowing too much about Storm's backstory. It was definitely a wild ride. Jackson does an excellent job of creating fully fleshed out characters that show emotion and growth. I truly enjoyed joining Storm as she began to understand her powers and her place in the world. Readers that enjoy comics and superheroes will love this one, as will those that like a good adventure story. I'm unsure if this is meant to be a standalone or a part of a new series, but I would happily dive back into this world should another book be on the horizon.

A fun adventure that is sure to capture every superhero loving heart! The creativity and imagery in this book truly bring Storm to life.

To this day I think Allegedly is one of the strongest debuts I've ever read, so Tiffany Jackson is always a must read for me. Her love of Storm as a character really shines. Here she writes her as bold, strong, and fierce, without losing her compassion. There's enough comic nods to make it entertaining for comic lovers, but people who have never read anything involving the character but who are looking for a superhero origin story will like it too. I'd be interested in more with Jackson's Storm and seeing her take on other X-Men as the story evolves.
