Cute patterns, pleasant book & layout, visually appealing. Love amigurumi & you can’t go wrong with woodland creatures!
I am somewhat of a beginner to crochet. I was super excited when I came across this book. The patterns are so cute and so easy to follow!
I was thrilled with the "Woodland Crochet Kit." The step-by-step instructions and accompanying photographs made it easy to follow along, even though I am relatively new to crochet. The turtle and bluebird turned out adorable, and I can't wait to tackle the other patterns in the book. This kit has truly reignited my passion for crochet and provided hours of creative enjoyment.
Overall, Kristen Rask’s "Woodland Crochet Kit" is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to delve into the charming world of amigurumi. The combination of clear instructions, adorable patterns, and included materials makes it an excellent choice for both beginners and seasoned crafters alike. I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to create cute, cuddly woodland critters.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I've been looking for something similar to help expand my skills and this was absolutely perfect to achieve my goals.
Learning crochet has been hard for me. But I can’t wait to learn to put some of these to use and makes form of these!
I would recommend Kristen Rask's new book, Woodland Crochet Kit. Wonderful crafts for everyone to enjoy. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely. Happy reading!
Super adorable little critters that are quick-makes! Whether you're looking to create a woodland scene in your house, woodland creatures for kids and grandkids, or cute critters for a vendor show, these little guys fit the bill!
Woodland Crochet Kit is a pattern book with materials by Kristen Rask. Released 23rd Jan 2024 by Quarto on their Chartwell imprint, it's 76 pages and is available in kit with supplies (enough to make 2 projects - specifically the turtle and bluebird), including yarn, stuffing, floss, safety eyes... even a yarn needle).
The 12 included amigurumi stuffies are cute and simple. They're shaped very simply and will be do-able by everyone including beginners, with a little extra help from google/youtube. The author has included a general how to crochet tutorial as well. The instructions are well written, and abbreviations key is included in the book.
The patterns are shown on the cover and include: owl, fox, fawn, beaver, raccoon, squirrel, mouse, skunk, hedgehog, bunny, bluebird, and turtle. Each tutorial includes tools and supplies needed, step by step instructions, and a picture of the finished doll. Tutorials also include process photos with construction and finishing directions.
Four stars. This would be a fun craft activity for groups/camp/scouting, as well as for a nice family activity, and obviously for gift giving.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of WOODLAND CROCHET KIT by Kristen Rask in exchange for an honest review. This is a book containing patterns for a variety of stuffed animal toys. I would consider the patterns “retro” or “vintage.” I personally prefer more modern-looking toys, but if you like vintage or retro patterns, you may really like this collection.

A nice collection of crochet animals. While they aren't necessarily the "picture perfect" versions, this is a nice collection of doable patterns. Unfortunately, my download expired (I didn't know that would happen) before I was able to actually complete a piece.
I received a temporary digital copy of this book via NetGalley to peruse and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I think this would be a cute kit for some, but I wasn’t too impressed with the looks of the animals.. But, others might absolutely love them! This isn’t one I’d go out of my way to recommend.
I followed the receives and found them easy enough to understand. ' made a couple of the items. But I don't know if I would recomend this book to my craft friends.
Woodland Crochet Kit: 12 Precious Projects to Stitch and Snuggle by Kristen Rask is currently scheduled for release on January 23 2024. This kit includes a 76-page instruction book and materials to make two projects, a sweet turtle and a beautiful bluebird. The instruction book has more than 80 full-color photographs coupled with 12 step-by-step patterns. Create a sweet skunk, a cuddly hedgehog, a clever raccoon, and more—all in the popular Japanese style of crochet, amigurumi. Materials include; Four colors of yarn, A crochet hook, Stuffing, Embroidery floss, Safety eyes, and a Yarn needle.
Woodland Crochet Kit is a nice starter kit for those that want to try their hand at crocheting small animals. The instructions are clear and helpful for those that are learning. I like that this is a kit, including the materials needed to make a couple of the projects. I was glad to see a couple projects that I do not often see, for instance I do not think I have seen many fawn patterns before- although I also have not looked for them. I did think that some things were not fully explained- like how to work with the wool for the squirrel's tail and why the yarn for the mouse is listed as normal bulky yarn but it looks different to me. I also find working with the fuzzy yarn for the hedgehog gives the right look, it is also very frustrating for even advanced crafters and might not be a great starter yarn to be playing with for beginners.
Such a cute and helpful guide, though it is certainly more geared towards experienced crochet crafters rather than beginners. The diagrams are particularly useful.
Cute patterns, easy to follow instructions. I am excited to try some of the patterns. I have bought several of the kits that come with yarn and patterns, This one will be a fun edition to my collection.
4 stars
A very cute book filled with various cute project, but if you are a beginner like me you might get a bit lost, but this shouldn't stop you from trying, because with some practice, after you get the technique showed before the first project, you should be able to get some cute crocheted animals, but be prepared to make lots of mistakes and to go back and forth if you don't remember the abbreviations
I received a digital copy of the book from NetGalley, but not the kit, so I can't speak to the quality of the supplies.
I'm more of a knitter than a crocheter, but the directions seemed pretty straightforward. The patterns should have included yarn yardages, especially since the kit only provides materials to make 2 of the animals. I also would have given a higher score if some of the animals had been cuter. Ones like the beaver are cute, but what's up with the raccoon and its balloon head? I think I prefer amigurumi books with a clear style, so you know what you're getting and whether you'll like it.
Oh my goodness this is such a cute crochet set! The patterns are adorable. I recently have reawakened my interest in crochet projects and this book is perfect. The hedgehog or the skunk might be my favorite but everyone will find a favorite from the 12 projects.
I appreciate that this guide comes with instructions for completing the stitches required for the projects. The patterns could be attempted by a beginner or an experienced crocheter. The patterns were easy to follow with clear instructions. I will definitely be making as many of these as I can!
I'm actually going to be using some of the patterns soon to make a few of these. I like that the book I believe comes with some items to make a animal.
A really cute set of patterns. These are beginner appropriate, similar in difficulty to a Woobles kit, so they might be a good, less expensive alternative. They make small, but not tiny, amurigami style creatures. The mom and baby bird with nest are my favorite.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of the ebook in exchange for mjy honest review.
