Woodland Crochet Kit contains patterns for twelve projects inspired by woodland creatures. All of the designs were very cute with my favourites being the fawn and the turtle. I liked that the instructions at the start had lots of pictures to help you learn how to crochet however as someone who doesn't crochet I found the patterns themselves to be quite difficult to read and wish more guidance had been given.
Overall I think this would be a really fun, sweet kit to gift to anyone you know who loves crochet or who is looking to learn!
The Woodland Crochet Kit is a great entry point into crochet for beginners. It’s got several cute projects to choose from. Projects 6 (the squirrel) and 9 (the hedgehog) are my favorites. The pictures and text are easy to follow for beginners, and the “Techniques and Terminology” section is useful. My one note on that section is that it would probably be beneficial to provide a bit more of a detailed breakdown of how to create the adjustable circle that starts most projects. I find that skill confuses a lot of newcomers to crochet, and I could see someone needing to reference outside sources to really master that. But otherwise, this kit seems perfect for anyone starting their crochet journey that wants to make some cute critters!
This is such a cute book. A little short, but PACKED full of helpful crochet tips in the beginning. The descriptions and images explaining the stitches are helpful. I highly recommend.
These designs are so adorable! If you want your own version of these cute animals or even to make as gifts then this book is for you.
This book has very clear and easy to follow instructions with great pictures to help at every step of the process. I have tried the bluebird pattern and found it worked up really quickly. This book would suit an intermediate beginner in my opinion.
This is a great book for beginners. Not only are the designs absolutely adorable but they are very easy to read and understand. The book gives great descriptions step by step as well as clear photos for you to look and understand what your design should be looking like. I really enjoyed this and I can't wait to make more adorable crochet animals!
This book is really fun! Quick and easy (and cute) projects for all skill levels! I really enjoyed making my birds and foxes! The information was well presented and the steps for starting, stitches needed, supplies, stuffing, and finishing were all laid out well and concise. I think anyone would find these projects fun and a good way to learn crochet and amigurumi.
This book has cuteness written all over it. The little critters include owl fox, fawn, raccoon, hedgehog, bluebird and more, making a collection of 12 woodland crochet animals.. The animals vary from 3.5 to 6 inches The instructions are well explains with step by step instruction and cute photos.. Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DR
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook.
If you are looking to get into crocheting stuff animals or an avid crocheter and you are looking for a fast and easy gift ideas for birthday's, Christmas, baby showers etc then you might like to check this book out.
It is full of instructions on how to make a these small woodland creatures. The instructions seem easy and easy to understand. Highly recommend
Adorable creatures!
Patterns are easy to follow, but you do need to have knowledge of reading them without having every single step (in a round) written.
For example: *2sc in the next st, 2sc* (24)
*2sc in the next st, 3sc* (30)
Personally, would be easier it if said how many times to repeat.
But over all, they are cute and work up fairly quick.
The techniques and terminology at the beginning on the book is also great to have.
Some lovely little projects, with clear instructions and good photographs. I will enjoy making some of these.
For someone who wants to learn or is starting this is a good option. Of course, the printed version comes with the yarn and things you will need. it's good for starters not so much for experienced crocheters.
A lovely crochet book featuring twelve projects for cute woodland animals. The projects are designed by different designers based on the woodland theme. The animals featured are an owl, a fox, a fawn, a beaver,a raccoon, a squirrel, a mouse, a skunk, a hedgehog, a bunny, a bluebird and a turtle. I only received an ebook, but the physical book comes as a kit with everything you need to make the bluebird project and the turtle project.
The book starts with a section on techniques and terminology. This is accompanied by some photos. The finished creatures measure between 3 inches and 10 inches; the mouse being the biggest. Most of the designs are between 3 and 6 inches tall. Each project has photos for each step of the process. The instructions are simple and clear but a knowledge of reading patterns would be a definite advantage.
This would make a lovely gift for anyone with beginner or intermediate crochet skills.
I run a crochet class at my library and I am always looking for cute pattern books to recommend to my members. This one is filled with a lot of cute ideas with lots of easy to follow pictures and directions.
I love these patterns. My biggest problem is going to be where to put all the little woodland animals we create.
There are 12 different animal projects in the book; a good variety of animals to make a book worth purchasing instead of simply searching up a single pattern on the internet.
I thought this one was well put together and very user friendly. I especially liked the techniques and terminology section. It covered the basics clearly without being too extended. It's at the front of the book, providing the basis for all of the patterns that even a beginner could follow.
The diagram are helpful and the pictures are fun, giving the creator a good sense of what they're working towards.
This is an excellent pattern book.
[Received from netgalley for an honest review]
I will first start by mentioning I am an absolute beginner at crochet.
What I find strange is that in most (if not all) crochet books, especially those that claim to be aimed at beginners they'll give a brief introduction to stitches and the terminology but then throw you buck wild into "2sc in each st (12)
" it's intimidating and leaves you wondering if you should be studying up and testing yourself on the lingo rather than participating in the craft. This is particularly why I have all the books, the tools and the yarn but never pick up the book.
I feel a book aimed for beginners should gradually ease you into the terminology through the projects so that by the end of the book you can read "2sc in each st (12)
" with confidence and not having to look to the front of the book to translate.
Another thing is I wish they would create a QR with video tutorials of the stitches so visual learners can follow through. However that is just my wish and unrelated to the reviewing of this book.
Moving onto the book the projects are overall basic but cute. The materials needed for each project are clearly listed and there are progress photos. Pretty standard for an amigurumi book and nothing I can fault it for.
Great crochet book, good for beginners as it teaches the stitches so anyone could have a go. The pictures are very clear as are the instructions.
I am experienced at crochet and like making amigurumi so have already made a start on the turtle and will be making some of the others.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.
So many people will not take up a craft because they say it's too much trouble to find a pattern and gather supplies. This Woodland Crichet Kit is perfect for them. The kit contains everything you need, including a book of patterns that are very easy to follow. Amirgumi is the newest trend for crochet artists. Whether you are making them for a gift, for a holiday craft market or even for yourself, you can't go wrong with this kit.
I liked that this book featured partners from different crochet artists. Generally, it provides a decent introduction to crochet and the instructions are clear. Some of the photographs could have been better because I found them a little less helpful overall.
The actual critters that the book covered were really not to my liking. I found them a little rough and not in the style of amigurumi that I prefer. Probably the hedgehog and bluebird were the ones that I would take and make. The rest were kind of meh for my personal taste.
I feel that, if I am going to take on crochet - and I am still more an observer than a participant - I want it to be something that I would keep. Not because I would keep them, but because if I like it, I feel those around me will to. This book did not have a lot of options that really wowed my heart.
That being said, they are good beginner projects for someone starting out. And the imperfect look is probably good for someone who is learning the ropes. And the fact that this is a kit with multiple project options is a definite plus.
All in all, a good way to learn to crochet. And if you like the images on the cover, then this will appeal to you more than it did me.
I love the pattens in the Woodland Crochet Kit! These are super cute and the patterns are laid out to be easy to read and I can't wait to start.
Cute book with amigurumi crochet patterns for animals that you find in the woodlands. Great instructions and I see this comes as a kit so you can start your cute little friends straight away
