I am a boba tea ADDICT!! It’s seriously my favorite drink ever!! So when I saw this cute graphic novel that was all about boba, or bubble tea, I knew I had to check it out.

This adorable cookbook has fun, cute illustrations, and the colors are bright and with a soft palette that gives it a cozy feeling. Visually, it’s very appealing.

This book doesn’t just give a ton of recipes, it also explores the origin of boba, provides tea basics, like what equipment to use, fun facts, basic information about the tea and boba, along with how to brew green and black tea and information about syrups and bases of the drink. The recipes consist of a variety of fruit teas, including recipes for different jams, homemade fruit syrups, and fruit tea with boba. Then, you’ll find recipes for classic milk teas with boba. And finally, recipes for toppings to add to your drinks.

It’s very easy to read and follow along. It’s not as thorough with some information as other graphic cookbooks that I’ve read, but there’s still a ton of information and recipes to enjoy. All of the ingredients and equipment are very accessible so it doesn’t feel like you can’t make these recipes at home. It doesn’t require anything that you can’t find near where you live.

If you are a boba tea lover and you enjoy making your own drinks, then you absolutely must pick up this colorful graphic cookbook. Definitely recommend!!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. These are my own thoughts and opinions.

Talk about the perfect Christmas gift for all my boba lovers and maybe my ABGs out there lol. This was so cute and VERY detailed. I was expecting a few cute illustrations with basic recipes BUT nope. This book went above and beyond - my fave is definitely the fruit tea section. <3

Netgalley review

It's hard to rate a recipe book I feel, especially if you haven't tried any of the recipes yet but it's the first one I've read front to back so I give it that.

The illustrations are absolutely adorable, they fit the vibe of the book and overall help the viewer get a glimpse into the recipes without photos being involved. I've read recipe books before without pictures, not even illustrations or anything, it's hard to not have any sort of visual to what you're making so I feel the illustrations help market the recipes in a convincing way, making you want to try them as soon as possible.

The little snippets of stories don't bother me, I'm not a fan of long anecdotes slapped randomly into online recipes that go on for pages so I think the small quick inputs make it feel personal but doesn't take away that it's still a recipe book.

As soon as I have free time, I am 100% trying some of these recipes with my family. They're all so easily understandable and accessible to make. I appreciate them willing to share ingredients and full recipes to drinks that they sell, I'm a big believer in knowledge sharing.

I thank the authors and netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review this book.

I absolutely love this bubble tea book, with it's delicious recipes and adorable illustrations it is a must have for anyone who would like to make this sweet treat at home. This book walks you through the equipment you will need to get started, how to brew your tea, and even make your own fresh boba. I can't wait to try every recipe but so far my favorites are the Baby Bug, Strawberry Coconut Milk, and the Taro + Ube Almond Milk. I will definitely be picking up a copy for myself as well as some for gifts.

This is an absolute hit!
I initially downloaded this book because it was cute (and it absolutely is) however it is so much more.
This is a legitimate recipe book. Let me explain. The bubble tea recipes are presented in ways that are visually appealing but the ingredients used are explained as well. This book goes beyond bubble tea. There's desserts, hot teas, refreshers and more. There's room and opportunity to be creative because the author has explained the recipes in detail. I'm lactose intolerant and there are plenty of options and substitutes for me.
On a personal note the dedication was beautiful. I know your parents are incredibly proud.
Thank you Stacey Kwong, Beyah del Mundo and Netgallery for allowing me to read this book. My daughter and I love it!

Do you have a bubble tea lover at home? or do you know anyone obsessed with this drink? Yeah, I have one of those at home. a tween who would trade almost anything for a visit to a boba tea place. This book made her day. no, it made her week. Maybe even made her month.
It tells what makes bubble tea, how to make it, and explains everything step by step and in great detail, and in a very easy-to-understand way. Also, there are absolutely adorable drawings.

I love a good bubble tea, and I have been looking into making them at home because finding on where I live isn't always easy. Kawaii Cafe Bubble Tea by Stacey Kwong and Beyah del Mundo, is an awesome cookbook for anyone interested in creating their own at home. Instead of just being a collection of recipes, they take the time to explain what bubble tea is, as well as how to make every part of the drinks in the book. It does require some special equipment/ingredients, but I think most people looking for this kind of cookbook will not be surprised by that. From brewing the tea to creating the jellies to decorate the drinks, you can find directions for everything in this book. The drink recipes all look delicious and the illustrations are very cute.

If you're someone who is truly interested in making bubble tea at home, and are willing to sit down and really do a great job at it, this is an excellent place to start!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher and author for allowing me an advance copy.

Omg!!! If this is not the cutest book ever! Bubble tea is such a big trend right now and I love how thorough this book is in every section and every recipe. Giving the “sweetness percentages” was absolutely smart.

And the drawings!!! What a beautiful and vibrant book. Will definitely be purchasing a physical copy for my kitchen/

This is an adorable cookbook with pretty simple-to-follow recipes. The recipes set up the reader to work through some trial and error, but when it comes to teas, a lot of stuff is up to personal taste. The recipes not only set up the reader to create some delicious teas, but with some skills that can help with other flavored beverages and maybe some sweets as well. This book will be best for individuals less experienced in the kitchen, and as someone much more experienced it is a cute addition to the cookbook collection, maybe even the art collection.

Kawaii Cafe Bubble Tea is a cookbook and basic introduction to boba(bubble) tea. Before getting to recipes, the book first introduces the reader to the origin of boba tea. Then it gives a list of essential equipment, a “Tea 101” page explaining different types of tea used in boba and how to brew them, and “Boba 101” and how to make it. Then there are pages about various creamers and sweeteners. I appreciated that the authors talked about their opinions about the pros and cons between different types of ingredients. Later they also include a page about how to make taro paste.

The book discusses how to brew each type of tea before going into the more complicated bubble tea recipes. There’s directions for how to brew prepackaged thai tea as well as a recipe for homemade thai tea. There are sections of recipes for fruit teas, milk teas, specialty drinks (that might not include tea), and “sip n’ dips”(which include ice cream). All ingredients needed are easily available or things you probably already have at home.

In the Fruit Tea section, I loved the idea of making jam or syrup to use for my tea, rather than using artificial fruit syrup! I think that you could find many recipes online for boba with artificial syrup, but the fact that the authors of this book chose to suggest making natural syrup makes the recipes feel more natural, personal to them, and special.

Lastly there is a section that discusses various toppings that work in the drinks.

I really enjoy this recipe book and I can’t wait to try it. The illustrations as well as the entire pages themselves are adorable and fun. I will be contacting the publisher to ask for a physical copy.
