This collection wasn't for me. I thought I'd like it because I enjoyed several of their past collections but this just fell flat for me

Thank you to Wilder Poetry, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Netgalley for this advanced reader copy of "Eclipse" for an honest review.

I am still dreaming about this gorgeous little poetry book (and seeking out all earlier things by this poet). The poems are gorgeous by themselves, but the art in this book transitions them into something even more transcendent. I'm looking forward to being here for all the future creations and publications of this author, watching them grow, change and blossom into their words and art.

This is one of the prettiest physical books I've ever read.
This is a really light, sweet, beautiful poetry collection. I prefer the dark and sad poetry, so this wasn't my favourite. But this is great for what it wants to be.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC

This is a poetry book about love, the sun and moon, the stars and rain, and the space in between.

The idea of the collection really pulled me in. I had high hopes for the book and it didn’t disappoint. I find astronomy and the cosmos romantic and inspiring. I love nature poetry, and this book delves into the whimsy of deep space.

The poems are short and lovely. The book reads like a collection of love letters. I absolutely loved the illustrations and the beautiful textured paper backdrops. I am confident the physical book is even more enchanting.

There were a few poems I couldn’t grasp the meaning of too well or couldn’t relate to. Sometimes, it wasn’t clear who the speaker was. The poems felt a bit repetitive near the end (in concept), maybe because I was looking forward to more variation or a climactic end to the collection.

All in all, I would recommend this book to someone who is looking for a book of cosmic love letters to read to their spouse.

Eclipse is a stunning collection of poetry. A love story. Sun and moon. Night and day. The power and destiny of love traversing time, space, and distance. I had such a profound connection to this collection and Wilder has an exemplary way with words.

My sincerest gratitude to @Netgalley and @Wilder for the ARC.

Wilder poetry has never let me down and that phrase continues to stand true. I will never. to read a collection put out by them.

A gorgeously illustrated book of what felt to me like snatches of poetry, the sort of thing scribbled on a napkin when inspiration strikes. It is a romantic book - the artwork evokes emotion as much as the words. While this did not scratch my poetry itch it was deeply satisfying in its own way. It made me feel like tumblr back in the day when talented and creative people would combine images and quotes in ways that fed the soul and sparked the imagination. Deep thanks to the author, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and NetGalley for the eARC.

I really loved this poetry collection like, poetry based on the love story of the Sun and the Moon, say less! It was beautiful and while I did not think it was 5 star perfect it was definitely so sweet and romantic and full of amazing quotes! I also loved the illustrations on each page and how they added to the story. It was a beautiful narration of an epic love story, the epitome of fated mates. I really loved these poems and how they were able to humanize the characters and made it seem so relatable and flawed.

When I requested this book, I knew it was poetry, which I’m a fan of. I did not know it was a love story between the sun and moon, so I was excited to see how that went. I have read verse novels before and quite enjoyed them.

This is not a poetry collection. It is one long poem. The problem is it doesn’t move anywhere. It’s a lot of the same flavor. There’s no story arc, which I needed there to be if it was going to be the love poetry of the two same subjects. It’s all beautiful work, but that wasn’t enough for me.

On the positive, as I said, it is all beautiful work. It was cute to see the parallels made between the cosmos and humanity and comparing the language used to the human experience. While rather simple, it did make me think on occasion. Sometimes I found myself reading it out loud to myself like a monologue. To top it off, the illustrations are absolutely stunning.

At the end of the day, I can’t say I recommend it. But it was a good read.

I loved Eclipse. It's a book of poetry that captures you, draws you in, and allows you to see both the light and dark sides of yourself. It inspired me to dig deeper into my feelings and pull them out.

I really liked the theme of this poetry book and the illustrations fit well with the poems. I didn't feel extremely connected to the poems but I did have a nice time reading this short volume.

Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel publishing for granting me a digital copy in exchange for my thoughts on this recent collection of poetry by Wilder Poetry.
I’ve read each book of Wilder’s and each one is so thoughtfully, artistically, and beautifully laid out through poetry, prose, and artwork. It truly is a beautiful work of art along with being a lyrical big hug to the sun/moon and our closest relationships that bring us light.
Wilder is always producing solid, recommendable pieces of poetry!

I love a good love letter, and that seems to be the gist of most of the poems in this collection. Although it was a little repetitive at times, I overall enjoyed this collection.

It's a very pretty book 🌙 The poems seem to be mostly love letters to the author's partner, which are obviously very personal and not really my thing.. but littered here and there were words spoken from the moon and stars themselves which were amazing. Love the idea, love the images and the colours, I just wish there was more from the sun and moon ✨

The initial pages of the book had me so captivated that I couldn’t resist annotating passages and sharing snippets on my IG stories. Though, I must admit, the enchantment waned a bit as I read further into the collection. Some pieces felt reminiscent of quotes from my Tumblr days or the kind of sentiments you’d hurriedly post as a social media caption after a dreamy (kilig) date with your special someone. Despite this, the book can be a thoughtful gift for someone special, perfect for leaving sweet notes on favorite pages 💝

Lastly, the illustrations added undeniable charm—my weakness! 🥹 In summary, “Eclipse” offers a quick and visually pleasing read. Click the link https://www.instagram.com/p/C3-fFlcPjR2/?igsh=MTgwd244c2Q4YjhqYw== to see my favorites ➡️

Eclipse by Wilder is a collection of love poems between the sun and the moon. The poems are not presented in a way that tells a story, but rather it is as if the sun and the moon are just rambling their deepest thoughts to each other. At times, it did feel a little repetitive, but I liked the variety on some poems being as short as three lines and others having a little bit more substance to them. It was a fun read.

The most spectacular part of this book was the artwork. The pages that held artwork were by far my favorite and the images were beautiful and refreshing. I would consider buying this book for the artwork alone.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC copy in enchange for an honest review.

A small but beautiful collection of poems that centre around ourselves and the universe. Ranging from a page worth to a few words, Eclipse was a perfect small read that tells the universe's oldest love story; between the Sun and Moon. Eclipse has a very Tumblr/Instagram vibe. The illustrations were also beautiful and spoke to many things surrounding our world. Each poem is lovely with senses of love, longing, and many other feelings that intensify the message that we are not alone, love forever surrounds us.

Thank you, NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

3 stars out of 5

Very basic poetry-wise, just with a very consistent theme which is not something I have experienced before in a poetry collection and I don't think I like it but I won't fault it for that. The poems mostly were very Tumblr/Instagram type of poems with some very lovely ones mixed in. There were a couple of times however, when it felt like I had read a poem for a second or third time because of how similar some of them were. The artwork that was on most of the pages was actually stunning though and I really liked especially the first type of artwork that was in this. Despite this, this is not a poetry collection I would want taking up space on my physical shelves but I wouldn't be mad about it if It was a digital copy.
