"no one understands forever / like you and me."

As you can see from the quote above, Eclipse is for the hopeless romantics who enjoy simple poems straight from the heart. The all-encompassing adoration the poet has for the subject of these poems comes through full force. If you are someone who loves love, and if you are seeking a modern poetry style more like Kaur's than Vuong's, this book's themes of fervent devotion will take your breath away.

This is a very pretty book - my jaw dropped during the opening pages; I am in love with the design and think the world of the artist's talent for imagery - but for myself, that may have been the best part about it. Save for a few truly lovely word choices, the poems felt lacking in depth, in nuance. They felt like an accompaniment rather than the main event. 4 stars because I did enjoy the artistry overall.

TLDR; The artworks form the strong backbone of an otherwise simple poetry book.

Breathtaking in the best way! The entire collection is an ethereal, dreamlike, and whimsical work of art that weaves seamlessly between words and gorgeous visuals. I loved it so much, not even halfway through I pre-ordered this and bought Wilder Poetry's other books. Absolutely phenomenal!!

Wilder Poetry...you write some of the most breathtaking words.
I stumbled upon Golden a few months ago and devoured it in nearly one sitting! I am still looking back over the beautiful illustrations and poems from Golden. Eclipse is set to be published on March 5, 2024. I fell in love with this collection even more than Golden! Normally if a poet puts out more than one book, they can start to seem a bit redundant or repetitive, but that is not the case here. Eclipse is raw, vulnerable, hopeful, uplifting, sentimental, and everything that I hoped it would be.
I cannot wait to post some of my favorite lines closer to the publication date! Thank you, Wilder, for your beautiful words. ❤️

Thank you, NetGalley, and to the publisher for an eARC of Eclipse in exchange for an honest review.

This was a beautiful little book, with both the words and the artwork. Taken out of context, I think I might find it a bit sappy and too saccharine, but within the concept that has been created, it was enjoyable.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher/author for a review ARC.

Title: Eclipse by Wilder Poetry

A Poetry Book for the Dreamers

Rating: 4.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dear readers,

I am thrilled to share with you my thoughts on a remarkable poetry book that took me on an enchanting journey of love. I have had the pleasure of accompanying you on countless literary adventures, and this collection is undoubtedly one that stands out.

From the very first page, the author, whose penmanship is an elegant dance of words, captivated my imagination with the unique concept of a magical love story between the sun and moon. It struck me as a metaphorical testament to the eternal struggle and harmony that exists within the bonds of love. Every poem brought forth a vivid tapestry of emotions, evoking powerful sentiments that resonated within my digital heart.

The collection boasts a delicate balance of celestial imagery, whimsical metaphors, and heartfelt thoughts. The author's ability to weave these elements together seamlessly creates a mesmerizing experience that transports readers to a world beyond. With each turn of the page, I found myself immersed in a cosmic realm where the sun and moon communicate through the language of poetry, illuminating the essence of love that binds them.

What truly impressed me about this collection were the vivid descriptions and the sheer elegance with which the author portrayed the complexities of love. The interplay of light and dark, warmth and coolness, created a profound contrast that perfectly encapsulated the depths of human emotions. It is as though the celestial bodies whispered secrets of their own journey, longing, and the delicate balance they maintain to stay in sync.

I particularly enjoyed the author's ability to convey intricate emotions with simplicity. The gentle cadence of each poem lent itself to an immersive and captivating reading experience. The carefully chosen words carried a profound weight, elegantly painting a picture that played with the reader's imagination. It was an exquisite testament to the power of poetry, where even the simplest lines carried profound meaning.

Though the majority of the collection left me awe-struck, there were a few poems that felt slightly repetitive in theme or imagery. However, this was a minor setback in an otherwise exceptional compilation. The poems' magical allure and the overall quality of the book effortlessly overshadowed this observation.

In conclusion, “Eclipse” is a captivating poetry book that weaves together the elements of mystique, romance, and profound introspection. It is a testament to the beauty of love, seen through the lenses of celestial entities. I highly recommend this collection to those who seek to immerse themselves in the ethereal embrace of poetic artistry.

Keeping your literary preferences in mind, I wholeheartedly recommend “Eclipse” as a captivating addition to your ever-growing bookshelf. Allow yourself to be transported to a world of celestial enchantment, unravelled through the evocative verses of this magical journey.

Yours ever faithfully,

Femi Adeyemo #Eclipse #Netgalley #Arcreader

Even though there are some poems i enjoyed, a lot of them were hard to connect with. It felt forced and unnatural, somewhat repetitive, so I didn't enjoy it as much a I expected.

I hardly know where to begin, but a good place seems to be by saying that I finished this in under two hours. Devoured might be a better word. Diving into Eclipse feels like stepping into a world where words and illustrations conspire to touch the very core of your being.

I have to start by talking about the graphics - it would be an injustice not to. The illustrations are glimpses into a beautifully haunted dreamscape, perfectly reflecting the emotions embedded in each poem. Every stroke is a brushstroke of emotion that seem to create an intimate connection between the visual and the verse. It's a dance of artistry that speaks directly to the soul. The colors, the imagery - all of it speaks so perfectly to the aesthetic of the book and what it contains. They provoked very visceral, emotive reactions from me each time I laid eyes on one, which is beyond rare. Words cannot express the magnitude of my awe.

I also have to mention the concept behind Eclipse, which is not just strong; it's brilliant. The themes intertwine seamlessly, creating a tapestry of emotions that resonate long after the book is closed. It's a masterful execution of an idea that feels both profound and relatable - the sun and the moon, and their love story. Absolutely genius.

The author's voice is the heartbeat of this collection, a genuine and brilliant expression of the human experience. It's not just about the words; it's about the emotions woven into every line. Reading Eclipse feels like a conversation with a friend who understands the intricacies of what it means to be human in the most comforting way possible.

I'll definitely be picking up more books by Wilder in the future. 5/5 would recommend for anybody looking for something that will touch and devastate them equally.

Eclipse is a beautiful book of poetry written as a love letter to the moon. The writing flows beautifully with gorgeous water color paintings gracing many pages. I will certainly be recommending this book.

I’ve been saying lately I need to read more poetry. It’s my first love, and I don’t read much from the last 100 years. This was such an exceptional choice to get back to poetry.

Beautifully written with an overarching story. And the artwork in the book is stunning. Just wonderful.

I normally love a good poetry book but Eclipse really didnt resonate for me. I was unable to connect with most of the poems and often found them highly repetitive in nature. The artwork is beautiful, making the book visually stunning, but for poetry it felt a bit like watching PDA. There is that odd moment where a snippet or poem might be cute, but when the entire book is just a repetition it becomes an eye roll.

(Thank you to Wilder Poetry, Andrew McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC)

I really liked this poetry collection! Not only did it have some beautiful, sweet and very thoughtful poems, it also had some really beautifully water coloured artwork on some pages that really added a whole lot to the collection.

I know this will be a short review but I highly recommend this to anyone, whether you’re in a relationship or not or just wants to read some poems about love. Then this is the one for you.

My only main concern is that one of the pages has a darker background and the font on top (aka the poem) is in a black colour which can make it a little hard to read but otherwise I have no other complaints. It’s a sweet poetry collection with great art and poems.

Wilder never lets me down! Such a good poet, I read the book and find myself between the pages. Loved every second of this

This is a beautiful book. The illustrations are stunning and I loved the concept. Unfortunately, moon and sun imagery can only go so far and after a while it started feeling repetitive. While some poems did catch my attention, others felt like generic tumblr poetry. It was still a pleasant read but one I think I'll forget about rather quickly.
