What are Bees Good For, Anyway? is a charming book about a little boy named Benny that is afraid of bees after getting stung by one. Over the course of a day Benny’s aunt teaches him how important bees are to our ecosystem. The illustrations are delightful and the copy is educational and humorous. I recommended this book for elementary classrooms. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

What are bees good for anyway? Is an important children’s book about how important honey bees are to our ecosystem. The author makes it enjoyable for young kids and older kids. I learned stuff I didn’t know. I’ll be purchasing the paperback. Thank you for the ARC, Nicole and NetGalley.

"What Are Bees Good For, Anyway?" follows a young boy who is upset about having been stung by a bee, so he is questioning what bees are good for. His Aunt then tells him all about bees, and how they help the environment.
I read this with my son, he loves learning facts about animals and insects so I thought this would be perfect for him. The text was maybe a little old for him, the facts involving numbers really went over his head, but he really liked learning the other facts. The illustrations are really cute and vibrant too.
My critique is that while we were enjoying the facts, it was very 'info-dumpy'. Despite the facts being written in the book as dialogue that the Aunt is telling the boy, it felt like facts from a text book pasted in, rather than an actual conversation between the two characters. I would've liked if it were to flow a little nicer while still presenting the bee facts.
There was also an error on page 14, the paragraph cuts off and the sentence isn't finished. I assume the word missing at the end is "tired"? I hope this will be fixed in final copies.
Overall it was a cute book, and gave me "Magic School Bus" vibes.

I read this book to my nephew. The pictures were really sweet. However, this was a pretty technical book for little ones and had a lot of words on each page. It was hard for my nephew to follow along and he got a little bored. Would have loved for there to be less facts or if the facts were spread out on pages like they were near the end rather than big blocks of text and facts. With less information this book could have conveyed very similar information and got some excitement for learning about bees.

What a fascinating and adorable book for little kids. My 7 year old and I both leaned a lot. I’ll be recommending this book.

This was so neat. Great illustrations, wonderful info for kids.
The only thing I didn't like was the formatting on my Kindle. It was so hard to read the book like that.
I do intend to read it to my kids. So we will see how they enjoy it.

Thank you Net Galley for the eARC to review!
What are Bees Good For Anyway, by Nicole Frankel is a wonderfully illustrated book that follows Bennie as he learns all the ways that bees help the earth! My kids really enjoyed this book and after reading it wanted to learn even more about bees! So I put in the Magic School Bus episode.
The only problem I could see is that on page 14, it seems there's a word missing. I think it's supposed to be "tired".
If you want a well illustrated children's book that teaches them all about bees and how they are for us and the environment, then this book is for you!
