Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.
I feel like Rumor acted more like a 16 year old then a college student. Didn't really like her personality. Mateo and Rex were just heartless angels that only cared about themselves. I did like Booker though and how he always told Rumor the truth.
I liked the overall story but definitely feel like it should be a YA book not a NA. I definitely want to see where their story takes them in a second book.
Thank you NetGalley and author Jamie L. Biggs for the copy in exchange of my honest review.
"She thought the truth would set her free. Instead, it binds her to the supernatural.
Seeking the truth entangles Rumor in a web of angelic mysteries and demonic secrets. She thought the truth would set her free, but instead, it binds her to the supernatural forces that lurk in the shadows.
As her adopted father's deceit unravels and DNA test results confound her, Rumor must navigate a treacherous path. Her once-trusted friend, Rex, becomes a formidable foe driven by desires beyond friendship, while an enigmatic stranger emerges as an unlikely hero offering everything she craves.
Rumor must find her voice in a world where romance dances with the supernatural, and dark fantasies blur the line between good and evil. In this gripping dark fantasy, she faces an impossible choice: the seductive allure of the stranger or the relentless pursuit of Rex.
Join Rumor on a thrilling journey through a world where angels and demons collide, love is tested, and the supernatural redefines destiny."
It was an enjoyable read though it starts slow.
This was a fun read that had a rough start but really pulled it together. I was very happy to read an angels and demon romance since its been a while. I also actually liked the characters and they are written well. I am excited to read more.
Rumor is an uptight teen. Determined to remain unchanged as she enters a new stage of life, she is realizing that everything may not be as it seems. Not her best friend Maddie, not her boyfriend, and not even her beloved adopted father.
This book includes:
- nephilim
- friends to lovers
- teen romance
- sort of love triangle
- conflict/growing apart from childhood friends when starting college
- positive relationship between adopted father/daughter
"Rumor: Kingston City Nephilim" has an interesting premise, but unfortunately the writing style was not for me. The book is listed under the New Adult genre, but I think the writing and plot building were much more of a young YA style. Rumor's perspective and decision making processes felt very immature. I don't know if she was extremely petty and childish, or if we were just missing valid motivations behind her behavior, but either way I didn't find myself connecting to her of the story. I also felt that the plot had a slow pace, which prevented me from being able to connect to the characters.
I recommend this book to young fans of "Hush, Hush."
I received this eBook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Jamie L Biggs for the opportunity to review this book. This review has been posted to GoodReads - check out my profile https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/62314863
The premise of this book was interesting to me because it's been a while since I've read anything about Fallen Angels vs Demons. The main character, Rumor, has just graduated high school and is getting prepared for college when she learns the truth about her biological family and what this means for her future as she becomes a person of interest in the war between Angels and Demons. This book was about 230 pages long (digital copy) and progressed quickly. Although, I feel like readers don't get to see much action regarding the war. This felt more like a prequel, giving background info on what occurred, leading to the events that will happen in any future books. Aside from that, I think the story was well-written, and the plot kept me hooked until the very end. I think Rumor's story has the potential to be better and evolve if there is a book two in the works. There were some grammatical errors (incomplete quotes), too, that were a bit distracting. For example, sometimes Mateo would be spelled with one "t," while it would be spelled with two on other occasions. As for the characters, I had a hard time liking Rumor, but she was pretty tame compared to Rex and Mateo. I did like Booker and Hades as characters, though, and it would be interesting to learn more about their past. I'm not sure if I will continue with this series (if more books follow), but like I said, I do think it has the potential to be better.
Initially, I found this book a bit perplexing, but as soon as I grasped its nuances and delved into the narrative, I became utterly captivated, unable to put it down. The initial confusion morphed into a thrilling engagement that heightened my overall enjoyment of the book. The intricate layers of the plot, once unraveled, revealed a compelling story that held my attention from start to finish.
One of the standout aspects was the author's ability to gradually draw readers into the narrative, creating a sense of intrigue that evolved into a consuming experience. The more I read, the more I appreciated the depth of the characters and the cleverly woven storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would wholeheartedly recommend it to those who appreciate stories with depth.
Rumor: Kingston City Nephilim is a new adult paranormal romance that follows Rumor, a young woman who discovers that she is not human, but a nephilim, a hybrid of angel and demon. She also learns that her adopted father has been lying to her about her past, and that she has a mysterious connection to the supernatural world. Rumor must face the truth about herself and her destiny, while also dealing with the dangers and temptations of the dark side.
I liked this book for its intriguing premise, its fast-paced plot, and its steamy romance. The author did a good job of creating a captivating and original world of angels, demons, and nephilims, with plenty of action, suspense, humor, and drama. The chemistry between Rumor and her two love interests, Rex and the stranger, was hot and intense. I enjoyed their interactions throughout the story.
Overall, I think this is a good book for fans of paranormal romance who like their stories with magic, adventure, humor, and drama. It's not a perfect book by any means, but it's definitely worth reading if you're looking for a fun and exciting ride.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
I DNFd after one chapter. It is so poorly written. Too many tense disagreements. Also, I wasn't aware the characters were straight out of high school and I just can't with that age group anymore.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this but unfortunatley this one is a DNF for me. I had a hard time getting into the writing as it felt like it was geared towards a younger audience. I also felt there wasn't a ton of world building.
