This is a unique book of crochet patterns to create reversible projects. The projects include: Bear/Panda; Bee/Hive; Squirrel/Mouse to Hand-Holding Otters; Penguin/Owl; Sloth/Lemur/Monkey (3 options); and Fox/Cat (reversible hand puppets). Each pattern provides the finished size of the project, difficulty level, supplies needed, with pictures of various steps along the way. The book begins with a lot of helpful information--with pictures--on needed tools and supplies, choosing fur yarn, creating gauge swatches, crochet tips and techniques, making eyes, working with fur yarn, and pinning/sewing/joining pieces. Although the reversible projects use fur yarn, most of the patterns include directions on how to make it non-reversible and with stuffing. Because working with fur yarn is not easy for beginners, I would recommend this book for very advanced beginners and beyond.

Although I found this book to be cute and well written, I feel that the subject is for more advanced Crocheters despite assertions that "only a small knowledge of crochet" is needed.
I have tried to work with fluffy yarn before and it nearly drove me to madness. Working with it and attempting to stitch two sides together would break me.
Some of the tips, however, have been really useful- especially the running stitch marker and how to change colours. The pictures are clear and easy to follow, especially since they use different coloured yarn/wool to show the pattern.
As much as I loved the patterns, I do think this is beyond my skill set.

With this book, crafters can make adorable, fuzzy amigurumi friends that are reversible (like poppables). I rarely read craft books cover to cover like this but I started with the intro where the author said every question one might have would be answered. The author was not wrong! There's a lot of great stuff that even a beginning crocheter could grab this book and get started. This would be fun in YA collections for teens who want to crochet something fun. Projects might be too much for younger ones just starting out. Overall, a solid title and one that I personally might get. The projects are so cute!

Amigurumi is THE THING right now, and these reversible designs give it a new spin. Or twist...or flip...okay, I'll show myself out.

Seriously though, as with so many others, this book gives the basics of crocheting, including the ever-so-important magic ring. From there, it progresses to a variety of sweet critters. I like that they're not all done in super smooth cotton yarn, making them extra cuddly!

This adorable book is both easy and comprehensive enough for even the beginner crafter and unique enough for even the most seasoned veteran to learn new skills and make adorable reversible animals!

Reversible plushes are so cute! I dislike the eyelash yarn or whatever it's called most of these are made with but I'm quite sure it can be made without it! The instructions in this book are very detailed and the photo guides are very informative. I love that this book has a section to teach people about crafts. Sometimes it's hard to find books that do that!

I have been wanting to learn how to crochet for years now, but have always been intimidated by the process--especially when it comes to reversible things!! I love how this book breaks down the basics of crochet on a beginner level. The pictures show each step, which as a visual learner, is super helpful.

I recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn how to crochet a variety of reversible projects-especially those who are at a beginner level.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for providing an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent crochet pattern book!!! The projects are adorable and easy to follow. Very precise instructions in the beginning of the book to explain the stitches used in the projects. Very detailed pictures to follow along. Great pattern book!

Some cute animals in this book. I like working with fur yarn although someone less familiar with it may want to try it with a regular #4 first and it should look fine. The first third of the book are how-tos of basic stitches, terminology, etc, geared toward the beginning crocheter. The directions are clear and there are several pictures so it should be easy to follow for everyone regardless of skill level. I do wish the assembly instructions were with the patterns rather than all lumped together at the beginning. Some of the formatting was a little wonky on here, and several pictures that were just black with a fuzzy white outline inside. Not sure if it's because it's an ebook or earlier version but hopefully fixed in the finalized copy.

After a few failed attempts at making fluffy scarves and hats as a teen, I’ve avoided fur yarn at all costs but this book has changed my mind. The author takes great pains to reduce the stress of working with more difficult yarns and has stuffed the book full of tips and tricks to help you on your way.

What sets this book apart
++ VERY detailed instructions with ample pictures to show you how to do various techniques. I have been crocheting for some time and still found them useful.

Pros
+ Detailed explanation of yarn types, the importance of gauge and how it may alter the finished product
+ A variety of interesting designs ranging from beginner to expert with options for personalization
+ Well laid out instructions combined with thoughtfully selected photos

Cons
- Some of the patterns weren’t exactly what I would call cute, maybe bordering on creepy… but each to their own
- The tone can come across as a bit bossy at times but it is clear the author just wants everyone to succeed and is giving them a stern talking to about following the rules

Summary
I would definitely recommend Crocheting Reversible Amigurumi Projects for the adventurous soul that wants to up their toy making game. For those of you just dipping your toes in the world crochet I would maybe hold back until you gain a bit of experience as even the easiest pattern takes a lot of fiddling.

The book is filled with adorable projects. If I enjoyed working with DK or fur yarn, I am sure I would love it.

Pros: I love learning new fiber arts. Although I have done some crocheting in the past, I had never thought about doing a project that would be reversible. This book is wonderfully detailed, from providing tips for choosing supplies to step by step instructions with photos for each project. I was so impressed with the creativity and skill needed to create these projects.

Cons: None that I can think of . . . except my basic ability to crochet a scarf will need some practice before being able to recreate the fantastic projects in this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Fox Chapel Publishing | Landauer Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

The projects in this collection are very adorable. A stand out favorite was the bee/hive combination. (Perfect for singing "Here is the Beehive"!) I particularly appreciated the patterns included for eyes. Safety eyes can be cute at times, but they wouldn't always be appropriate for the designs included.

I have never been successful at working with fur yarn, and the finished results of projects using such yarn is not always quite to my taste. Similarly, I found that the projects in the book that predominantly used the fur yarn were not appealing to me. If I were to attempt to recreate these projects, I would likely attempt with a standard yarn instead.

I liked this a lot, I feel like it would be very easy to follow if I was new to crochet, it provided pictures of how things are supposed to look, which considering the projects need to be sewn together and able to be reversed was fantastic. I thought it was a fun great collection and would recommend it for people looking for amigurumi books,

So many cute fluffy animals to make.
Very well described with perfect pictures as a step-by-step guide.

I tried to make one myself, but I'm such a beginner my attempt didn't turn out as well.
Although a lot better than expected, because of the desciprtions.

The designs in this book are all very sweet and I think the concept of them being reversible is very clever. I liked that each pattern contains lots of photos. Due to the complexity of the patterns as well as the fact that fur yarn is used for every design, this book is definitely aimed at a more advanced crocheter and is not for beginners.

My main issue with this book is that a lot of the assembly instructions for attaching the sides of the project are at the front rather than with the pattern which would be annoying to try and work from. Personally I would want the instructions to be with the rest of the pattern and to have pictures specially for this step.

Overall I think this book would be great for an intermediate/advanced crocheter looking for a challenge!

🧶 Just finished "Crocheting Reversible Amigurumi Projects" by Jessie Van In – her talent shines in these reversible designs! While they're stunning, I'd say they're more suited for intermediate to advanced crocheters. Beginners might find the fur yarn and intricate assembly a bit challenging. Perfect for crochet vendors though – these designs are sure to fly off the shelves! Overall, gorgeous patterns with a user-friendly layout. #netgalley #CrochetReview #AmigurumiDesigns 🌟
