I just love Gena Showalter's writing. I've loved reading everything she's ever written and this is no exception. This is the 4th book in her Rise of the Warlords series. I read the Lords of the Underworld series so it was interesting to read about some characters in this book that I was wanting to learn more about. The dynamic between Rathbone and Neeka kept me engaged in the story and I didn't have any idea what was coming up. I always know that with one of Gena's books it's going to be a good time, fast-paced, and hilarious, but it will also have a heart to it and a depth that makes it have an emotional connection. I loved this book and I look forward to the next installment to the series.

Thank you Harlequin for providing me with an ARC for this book. I appreciate it so much!

Gena Showalter is one of my absolute favorite authors ever. In this paranormal romance is the story of Rathbone and Neeka. I love what a strong character Neeka is, so confident and speaks her mind. And then there is our yummy Rathbone, wait till you discover him. The chemistry between these two is absolutely delicious. Gena’s writing never disappoints and as usual her excellent work is full of wit and great conversations as well as a story that will keep you hanging on by the edge of seat waiting to see where the twists and turns take you. It is the perfect blend of adventure, romance and spice. I have always thought that Gena is a master at storytelling and she shows it yet again in this amazing adventure. If you haven’t read this series I would start at the beginning, trust me you’ll be so happy you did. I love this series and Wrath keeps me hooked. Enjoy your adventure.

The Rise of the Warlords series just keeps getting better and better. The Wrath features my favorite couple yet, despite the fact that far less focus is on the Astra warlords. The shift in focus has definitely kept the over-arcing plot of the series interesting, as we saw less of the next Astra task and more how it affects any bystanders.

Neeka and Rathbone truly had some of the best interactions (flirting?) of the series, and a lot of that had to do with how much I loved Neeka and her personality. Her confidence and how she verbally expresses herself is definitely a new goal. As an oracle who slips in and out of visions, Neeka was a treat to read and kept me grinning every time it was her turn to shine. Gena always manages to strike the perfect balance between serious conversation, banter, and sarcasm, and this combination is at its peak in this paranormal romance.

Without spoiling plot points outside of the synopsis, I really liked that there was more than usual to focus on within the story. So far, the series has given us the relationship and the warlord's task in each book; but, The Wrath ended up giving us far more, both in terms of couples and things that needed to be accomplished for the Astra to succeed.

With Gena's witty writing, fantastic dialogue, and more than usual happening with the Astra and their harpies, The Wrath is a must read for paranormal fans who gravitate towards strong females and the gruff males who fall in love with them.

Gena Showalter's The Wrath is a captivating paranormal romance that will leave readers spellbound. The unexpected twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, unsure of how everything would unfold. Showalter's masterful storytelling proved she knew exactly what she was doing. Surprisingly, my feelings towards Neeka's mom transformed by the end, adding another layer of intrigue. I eagerly await the release of the next book in this series. While The Wrath may not possess the same intensity as its predecessors, it still brims with excitement. The palpable chemistry between the characters creates a tension that keep me hooked.

Book four! This series never disappoints. Harpies are my favorite character. And Neeka does not disappoint. Rathbone is also one yummy specimen. The relationship and banter between them keep you entertained. The story keeps you on your toes. And you can not wait to see what happens. These two are definitely two characters who deserve to have their story told. Another must read book.

I had so much fun reading this book. I loved Neeka and Rathbone so much as a couple. This couple has added my list of favorite OTPs, and I could not get enough of their hijinks. The plot was fast-paced, full of romance, and witty bantering. It also did a great job connecting with the rest of the series. I give this book a solid 4.5/5 stars. If you like this series, you will love this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review The Wrath. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story was awesome! Neeka is funny and quirky. Rathbone is moody and serious. The perfect match! I laughed at Neeka’s antics as much as I gasped at all the twists and turns. I was continuously surprised!
5 stars!!

This story is a bit different than the others in this series as it doesn’t center on the Astra and his challenge, but on the people who are attempting to stop the Astra from completing his goal. There are times we get the POV of Azra, the Astra who is attempting to bring the goddess Lore back to life. We even get Lore’s POV a time or two. But for the most part, this story is told from the POV of Rathbone (Lore’s husband when she was killed) and Neeka, a harpy who is also an oracle.

Rathbone is under the illusion that Lore is his fated mate and he must bring her back to life and protect her. Neeka knows that bringing Lore back will spell doom for the Harpy Nation as well as the Astra, and is she really Rathbone’s fated mate? Neeka has a feeling there is more to Lore than meets the eye. With everyone seeming to be working against each other as they are outwardly helping each other, it’s a tangled web. As the story progresses, Rathbone finds more and more to admire about his harpy oracle. Neeka goes from trying to hinder Rathbone’s progress to doing all she can to protect him.

The banter between Neeka and Rathbone is fun and witty. Although they start working together somewhat under duress, they are a lot alike and start to admire each other’s skills and cunning. Plus, they have great chemistry that soon cannot be denied.

Both Neeka and Rathbone have incredibly terrible parents. This has left both with deep scars that feed their insecurities. Neither trusts easily and both expect to be rejected at every turn. This, of course, means they understand each other in ways nobody else does. There are times when the way Rathbone reacts to things Neeka does breaks my heart. She gives him chance after chance and he messes up a lot. Once he gets his head on straight, these two are unstoppable.

As much as I ended up enjoying this story, it was a slow starter. Because I am familiar with this author and this series, I trusted her and kept reading. I was glued to the last half of this book, the same cannot be said for the beginning. It was interesting and important to the overall story but wasn’t quite as engaging.

This is book 4 in a Supernatural romance series and I would recommend starting with maybe book 1 before jumping to book 4 to better understand the author's vision.
The story is what you will expect a steamy romance character with lots of baggage and supernatural twist that readers of these story love.
The characters are ok they do not stand out in the Supernatural romance stories I have read before. They are very typical of these types of stories. Thankfully it has some humor to make the silly parts entraining.
Thank you to Netgalley for advance copy of The Wrath.

Okay. Wow. I need to start this series from the beginning because I AM IN LOVE WITH THE WAY THESE BEINGS LOVE!!

Rathbone has spent centuries trying to put his wife back together. Neeka is the oracle who will help him find the remaining bones. The journey is what proves to these two that they deserve so much more than they ever believed.

Rathbone and Neeka were raised to feel wanting. He was "If Only" and she was "The Unwanted", however, together... these two finally found the one person perfect for them. It took a loooooong time to realize it and they had to jump over many obstacles to obtain their happiness, but I felt their hope for forever right from the beginning.

My copy of this book wasn't formatted, but that didn't stop me from savouring this story. I flipped pages while ignoring everything pertinent to my life. Who cared about laundry, dishes, or cleaning. Priorties!!

I do wish I had read the previous books in the series, but I was in no way lost or felt like I was missing something. Reading this book only made me want to read those stories pronto. So if you like paranormal romance, exceptionally oblivious but incredibly endearing heroes, fierce and hilarious heroines, and an intense plot, you'll need this book in your life.

Rathbone only wants to recover the enchanted bones of his slain wife to bring her back to life against a band of war gods.. He decides to hire an oracle to help. Neeka wants to stop Rathbone and the gods. Will they fall in love?

I like the steam and the fun in this book. Love the plot! It keeps you guessing. The main characters are terrific and both have tremendous baggage. Love how their relationship evolves.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I have the privilege to read this prior to release. Although it’s a standalone, I feel like it would be beneficial to read the previous 3 books to truly understand the history and troubles, these characters have had to deal with.

You’ll be introduced to Rathbone who has spent centuries with a sole purpose of restoring his wife by recovering her enchanted bones. He cares for nothing else but his wife. With other players trying to stop him, he reaches out to an oracle for help. Unable to let go of the past, his anger, and temper. He ends up hurting people along his path to restore what he wants without understanding what’s in front of him.

Here we are introduced to Neeka, she is a harpy and a bit crazy but in a fun way! Labeled as the Unwanted for her entire existence, it’s taken a toll on her and her desire to prove everyone wrong. She becomes a baddie and finds herself. The development of her character is incredible!

Together these two flow into an awkward relationship, but there banter is completely organic. While they learn how to work together, they must also uncover secrets and dodge gods with a mission of their own.

I absolutely ate up this book in one sitting!! The characters were amazing and had me captivated from beginning to end. Not to mention the plot, that went at just the right pace and added beautiful magic to an otherwise tremendous world. And the romance? Divine!! The chemistry had me blushing and kicking my feet for most of the book. I have so, so many more thoughts that I want to share, but will spoil the story. I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone craving a magnificent paranormal romance!

Good book! There’s a lot going on, the story is constantly moving which is great. I like the main character Neeka, she’s a harpy oracle who can’t always remember her visions so she’s a little zany. Fun read!

Rathbone the Only is the King of Agonies and has spent centuries looking for the bones of his goddess wife Lore. When she was killed, he enchanted her bones so he can bring her back to life. He has all the pieces but four or five. He needs a seer to help him. He gets Neeka the Unwanted.
Neeka is a harpy/oracle and she can see the future. She is about to be killed by her ex when Rathbone saves her. Neeka has her own plans but lets Rathbone believe she will help resurrect his wife.
Rathbone has a strange reaction to Neeka. He is very attracted to her but he still doesn't believe what she says about his goddess. Can Neeka save the harpies and her friends or will Lore destroy them all?

This is hard to write without giving anything away. Action. Sexual tension. Gods. Goddesses. Oracles. Humor. Rathbone and Neeka are made for each other.
