Katherine Ryan is entertaining in everything - tv, social media - and her book is no exception. I laughed, I enjoyed, I highlighted sections. I enjoy the part memoir set up.
A short, humorous memoir about Katherine's journey from Canada to the UK to motherhood to growing her career that all ends with her getting back together with and marrying her high school boyfriend.
This was a great book! I very much enjoyed it and I look forward to following this actress’s next work! Thanks to NetGalley for the review copy.
I love Katherine and this little book was no exception , warm fun and hilarious ! Keep doing what you do loved it !
This was like having a chat with a friend - funny and warm. I've followed Katherine Ryan on instagram for a while so I'm used to her humour and I enjoyed finding out more about the history of her relationship. I may have giggled out loud at the GAP anecdote.
Deeply funny, Katherine Ryan hits it out of the park again! I love her work on stage and off and this was no exception!
How to Accidentally Settlle Down was a humorous retelling of Katherine's romantic life, and it did not disappoint. From high school through the pandemic, relationships are laid bare and poked fun of. We've all dated people we don't regret but would avoid if we could do it all over again, so it's relatable.
I've seen a couple of Katherine Ryan's comedy shows and loved them so I was excited to read her book. This book is a brief summary of her life. I didn't realize it was so short until I found the audiobook on KU. Since Katherine is the narrator, I decided to listen to it and follow along in the book. I enjoyed the story. and her narration.
Katherine Ryan is a great comedian who takes the mundane and puts a hysterical lens on it. From all her stumbles and falls, she finds colorful moments and lets us in on them. Her writing style is nothing but honest.
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book for my honest, personal review. This was a fairly quick read, flowed very well. It was about the author and how she found love again with her high school boyfriend and all of the ups and downs she had to go through to do so. I found it relatable and an enjoyable story.
I loved Katherine’s Glitter Room special so when this book came up on the “Read now” list , I knew I had to. A part funny, part sweet, but all too real look at the journey through life and love.
I will always find Katherine Ryan absolutely hilarious, and she’s especially funny in her writing. This is pretty much the same content as bits of her full length memoir, The Audacity, but is still a very enjoyable read! I always enjoy the sense of nostalgia in her humour.
The hilarious Katherine Ryan spills the beans on a short, funny, and unpredictable true story. It’s all about love, sticking it out, and that one guy she was convinced she’d left in the dust.
Back in high school, Katherine had this on-again, off-again thing with a seriously decent dude named Bobby. The whole saga was filled with teenage drama and moody moments fueled by Cool Ranch Doritos. Fast forward many years, and Katherine’s rocking the comedy scene in the UK, proudly navigating single parenthood with her super-smart daughter, Violet. She’s all about embracing the solo life and waving goodbye to romance – at least, she tells her audience.
But hold up, work decides to send Katherine on a quick trip back to her Canadian hometown. And guess who she bumps into? Yep, it’s Bobby. Suddenly, Katherine realized that maybe everything she thought she’d moved past wasn’t as far in the rearview mirror as she figured. Life’s full of surprises, huh?
Book Review
If you love her comedy then you'll love this book! This is a short story by Katherine Ryan. It is funny and charming, but you also see the comic be vulnerable. If you follow her on social media, you know her story. In my opinion, more than telling her story, “How to Accidentally Settle Down” is a love letter to Bobby, in a way you’d expect her to make it.
How to accidentally settle down was a funny read. With less than 50 pages it takes us through the author's romance life and how she accidentally settled down with her high school boy friend,
How to Accidentally Settle Down is a quick, cute and humourous memoir about love, self-discovery and motherhood. I was not familiar with Katherine Ryan's career as a comedian before reading this book, but I enjoyed reading her honest, unfiltered and comical commentary on the experiences she has faced. While I was expecting this to be a bit more structured and have more laugh-out-loud moments, it felt like having a conversation with a good friend. Would recommend if you are looking for something quick, fun and a bit different than your usual rom-com or memoir.
This book was so lovely! Katherine Ryan has been such a lovely part of my life through Big Fat Quiz and I am a huge fan. Reading these stories make me love her even more.
Autobiographical story of comedian Katherine Ryan's dating life before settling down with her high school boyfriend. This was a short book, and I read it in one sitting. I expected a full-length book, but it was still good. Funny but not laugh-out-loud hilarious. 4 stars.
A humorous telling of the author's relationships from her past. I felt this book was very relatable, as we have all kissed a few frogs before we found our prince. I have never heard of this comedian, but I think I will definitely look her up.
I loved this book! Her humor and wit transfers well onto the page, which makes following her journal through love all the more touching and hilarious. I found her to be completely fresh in her formatting and I look forward to reading more of her works in the future, hopefully!
If you’re a fan of Katherine Ryan’s comedy &/or podcast then you’ll love this teaser from her biography.
This chapter tells of her she first met & reconnected with her now husband, told with her usual dry, no nonsense humour,
