Three-Inch Teeth by C. J. Box is a chilling adventure in the Joe Pickett series. Grizzly bear attacks are at the center of the fear as Joe and the Predator Attack Team investigate these attacks scattered throughout the state - and in areas with no known grizzly population.

Dallas Cates is released from prison with violent revenge in mind. He has comprised a hit list and develops a maniacal plan to destroy those who had a part in sending him to prison and in destroying his family.

With a heightened level of violence, the terrors of Dallas and of the bear align. Readers will be astounded such degeneracy is possible.

Fans of this series will have another twist to digest when Sheridan goes on her first solo trip for Yarak.

The surprising loss of familiar characters, the hidden network of deceit (regarding 'the cause') and the intensity of impending revenge will startle fans of this outstanding series and have them grabbing the next book.

I will be recommending this book.

Thanks to Penguin Group Putnam, C. J. Box and NetGalley for this ARC.

The latest Joe Pickett adventures features some unusual grizzly bear sightings and some unusually grisly (!) deaths. Game Warden Joe Pickett investigates a death that hits close to home; the victim was seeing Sheridan. As the locals worry about the possibility of bear attacks, Joe participates in an effort to round up a dangerous grizzly bear with no apparent fear of humans. Meanwhile, none other than Dallas Cates has been released from prison and is looking for revenge, which can’t bode well for Joe and his family. Add in a subplot with Sheridan taking her birds of prey on the road for a job—not to mention Nate in full battle mode, and we have a high-drama, fast-paced installment of this series. It’s a little more violent than usual but satisfying on many fronts. More than 20 books in, C. J. Box still delivers.

In Three-Inch Teeth, Joe is on the trail of a murderous grizzly bear and, a little too late, a murderous human who's after his family and friends. A bit confusing at the beginning, but once it gets on a roll it doesn't stop. I felt bad for the grizzly bear and several of the characters along the way. Looking forward to the next book which will hopefully be the final end of Axel. I will happily recommend this book. Thank you to Penguin Group, G.P. Putnam's Sons, and NetGalley for the early access to this title in exchange for my honest opinion.

I always look forward to the next book in the Joe Pickett Series. Three-Inch Teeth is book #24 and is as unique and clever as every book in this series. This story moves at a faster pace than the other books and that serves to quicken the tension surrounding this story. And boy howdy is there ever a high level of tension in Saddlestring, Wyoming. A predatory bear is on the loose in Twelve Sleep County, and Joe Pickett is called in to help. We see the long-term dangers those in law enforcement face from the criminals they have dealt with in the past when a released convict wants revenge at any cost. There are some surprising twists to the both main and secondary storylines. I love the development of Sheridan as she becomes a recurring main character in the recent books.

Will an ex-con finally get to Joe or his family? Will Nate be able to help? Will a job facing dangerous wildlife finally catch up to Joe? You will have to read Three-Inch Teeth to know. I'll say it again. Mr. Box is a superior storyteller. I look forward to book #25.

I am, like most reviewers, a great fan of C.J. Box and his Joe Pickett series. And thanks to NetGalley, I was able to enjoy the latest book in the series entitled “ Three-Inch Nails.” This time Joe is facing a rampaging grizzly bear who, curiously, appears to be targeting specific people. In the meantime, we also are following Dallas Cates, not a fan of Joe Pickett, as Cates has just been released from prison and seeking revenge for past concerns.
I have read the entire Joe Pickett series and found this book a bit darker than most of the stories. The story felt closer to Box’es Cassie Dewell novels in its tone. Perhaps there may be a crossover story coming in the future? Now that would be interesting!
Enjoy the book all you Joe Pickett fans…and for those who haven’t read one yet you will enjoy Thrre-Inch Nails and go on to read the rest of the series.

fast paced and a great plot

The book opens with a young man being killed by a grizzly bear. Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett is one of the people charged with trying to find out what happened and to stop the bear from harming any additional people. When bear attacks start happening around the state, he knows it is more than just the one bear that is behind the attacks.

Dallas Cates, who did some major harm to Pickett and others in a previous book, was released from prison with a hit list that included people that he blamed for his time behind bars. He came up with an idea (not sure if it would really work, but, hey) of a machine that would simulate a bear attack. That and a baseball bat with bear claws stolen from a museum to give the victims bear-like cuts, made the attacks look very realistic.

The plot was very good. I have read many, but not all, books from this author. i don't remember if I read the one with Cates, but it isn't necessary to follow this story. Some of the books have had some political statements that are not aligned with mine, but this did not. In fact, there was a spot where a character noted that it was best not to discuss viewpoints. I appreciated that.

For those who are squeamish, there definitely is some blood and guts in this. No sex or swearing, but a lot of gore. It would be easy to skim over those spots if a reader so chose.

A predatory bear is on the loose, and Dallas Cates has been released from prison. Joe Pickett is in for a rough time.

This is an exciting novel, full of action and a twist you won't see coming. The story is told from several points of view. With so much going on, there isn't time for much character development but change is in the air.

I really enjoyed this book.

Not family friendly due to profanity, violence, and sexual situations.

Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Group. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The return of Dallas Cates. That’s all really we need to talk about when it comes down to C.J.
Box’s latest Joe Pickett novel, Three-Inch Teeth. The aforementioned former rodeo star is
getting out of jail and is planning his revenge. In addition to the return of this villain, Pickett has
to deal with a series of grizzly attacks that are wreaking havoc throughout his district. Again,
Box delivers another homerun in his long-running Pickett series and sets his readers up with a
major status quo change going into his next novel. I definitely recommend that longtime
readers don’t miss this latest installment.

Huge thank you to G. P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for the opportunity. Three-Inch Teeth by C.J. Box is expected to be published on February 27, 2024.

In the latest installment, Mr. Box describes a plot that is peculiar at first.
However, as the tale goes on, it contorts itself into quite a bear of a story with gnashing teeth!

I really liked the few twists on the plot. It was enough to keep me interested. A nice easy read with enough action to keep the reader going.

I've read every book of the Joe Pickett series and I have to say, this one really leaves you looking forward to the next one!

Game warden Joe Pickett has his hands full after a series of deadly grizzly bear attacks panic the public. The sheriff’s department is short staffed and not much help. Then he learns that Dallas Cates, a vicious career criminal who threatened his family, has been released from prison and his whereabouts are unknown. Could Cates somehow be behind the bear attacks? Marybeth, Joe’s librarian wife thinks so.

Twenty-fourth in the series that never disappoints. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My first CJ Box read and it absolutely won’t be my last. Joe Puckett is a game warden in small town Wyoming who gets involved with a series of horrendous murders that seem to be the results of a grisly bear attack. Or are they? The mangled and maimed bodies pile up, most of them striking home resulting in an all out effort to find and eliminate the elusive grisly.

Paralleling that story line is Dallas Cates, being released from prison with a significant list of local officials and law enforcement agents he has vowed to kill in retaliation for deaths of his family members Cates is evil and vengeful- a formidable adversary , who has assembled a group of sympathizers and other villains to help with his task.

Bloody, shocking, fast paced and not for the faint of heart , this story kept me turning pages. I see where this author sets up the ending of his books to lure the reader into the next one. I definitely will want to continue reading this series. Four stars for an engaging and wild ride in cowboy country. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin / Putnam for an ARC in exchange for my review. Publishing date is February 27. Look for it!

Many thanks to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, G.P. Putnam's Sons, for the free e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely love this series by CJ Box! Even though its book 24, it NEVER gets old, and there are always plenty of characters that I love to catch up with.

In book 24, Joe and team are hunting a killer grizzly bear that is reeking havoc in the 12 Sleep Valley killing people and hurting the game hunting season. Sheridan, Marybeth, Nate, Dallas, and Joe are all present in this installment which is what makes this series so wonderful. I love the characters and the gorgeous imagery of the mountains of Wyoming.

For fear of giving too much away, I won't get into the story too much other than to say I could not put this down!! Its a fast, rollercoaster ride of a read that I highly recommend!!!

5+++ stars

I never imagined when I read the first Joe Pickett novel that decades later I would still look forward to a new installment. C. J. Box spins each story with a masterful blend of (often violent) action-adventure, mystery, family drama, and vivid scenes of Wyoming’s raw, majestic natural landscapes. The 24th Joe Pickett entry follows that winning formula, crafting an exciting tale of grizzly bears, villains, an outlaw hero, and the unpredictability of life as a Wyoming game warden. Even those new to the books will be quickly engrossed in the adventure.

Thank you to Net Galley, the author and publisher for allowing me to read this advance copy of the next saga for Joe Pickett and Co.

This was a fantastic return to form, and I ripped through this in one sitting. The return of Dallas Cates sets up a riveting story with several surprising turn of events. This books sets up very nicely the next story arc for the Joe Pickett story, a welcome return to form for Nate Romanowski, and quite frankly, really excited to see where the author goes with this series. 5-stars!!!

Another superb Joe Pickett adventure with all the extras that make his stories so intriguing and thrilling.
If you've never read one before, start right now. You will be immediately pulled into the world of Pickett and will not want the adventure to end.
Joe is a Wyoming game warden and this time the case he is faced with involves a deadly grizzly attack which
kills his daughter's boyfriend and potential future husband.
The case gets even more complicated as other seemingly random attacks follow the first one.
The real question facing Joe is whether they are actually random or not. And if not how could they possibly be anything else?
A great story that takes off and brings back all the familiar Joe Pickett friends and family and reminded me right away why I like his stories as much as I do: the twisting yet intriguing plots, the so well defined characters that just stand right in front of you as you read and the endings that leave you literally staring into the next Joe Pickett story.
OK..........(tapping foot impatiently) ....
I'm ready for the next one.

Wow! Another great book in the Joe Pickett series (#24.). This book starts off with a bang, as Clay, JR meets his demise in the Twelve Sleep River, due to a grizzly bear attack. As Joe and others hunt for this bear, more puzzling questions arise as to what is provoking more and more attacks. Grizzlies aren't even suppose to be found in this part of Wyoming. An old enemy is released from jail, and is intent on fulfilling a tattooed hit list on his hand. And it looks like he will have plenty of help. Although Joe's two youngest girls and Mother-in-law aren't seen in this book, Sheridan has a starring role as she goes solo on a bird abatement case and makes a very surprising discovery.. We don't see too much of Nate until the end, No spoilers, but some very important things happen that will affect his life. I am looking forward to the next book to see where this all leads. Thank you,, Net Galley and Penguin Group for the chance to read this book.

A gruesome grizzly attack and Dallas Cates being let out on parole sets off a series of events. People all over the state are being killed by apparent grizzly attacks, but the pattern of kills doesn’t fit the usual behavior of a grizzly. Couldn’t wait to see how this story would end. The book is action packed and although it is part of a series it could easily be read as a stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Another good Joe Pickett novel. Mystery of a grizzly bear killing people and trying to capture or kill this deadly grizzly. Previous enemies of Nate and Joes are back and causing problems and killing a list of people and doing it in a way that the killer grizzly is blamed. You don’t want to put the book down once you start reading it. The ending leaves enough mystery that you are looking forward to the next Joe Pickett novel to see what excitement Nate will be causing and what excitement Joe becomes involved in.

WOW! Our game warden from Saddlestring, Joe Pickett, is back! Three Inch Teeth by C J Box, book 24, has to be the best I’ve read in the series. Starting with a grizzly attack then Dallas Cates being released from prison the action is nonstop. Full of twists and turns, new & returning characters, I couldn’t put it down and was thankful for a rainy day lol. Definitely looking forward to the next. Thank you NetGalley and
C J Box for an excellent read.

There was no real tension since the entire plot is covered in the book description, and the author obviously won’t kill the titular character in a running series.

It was engaging enough, but the intended audience is clearly those who’ve read the other Joe Pickett books. There was a lot of glossed-over context and many characters that may fall flat if you’re unfamiliar with the series.

The quotes about bears at the start of each chapter also made me eye roll, as it’s clear from chapter 2 that this isn’t actually about bears.
