Bears, bears everywhere! Three Inch Teeth is just one more reason I read CJ Box's Joe Pickett thrillers at the speed of light. I love the Pickett family. I love Nate Romanowski and his constant war with the world. And I love settling in with a master's touch with the great outdoors and the perils that come with them.
Three Inch Teeth bites down on the reader from the first few pages. A close friend of the Picketts meets a charging grizzly head on while fishing in a Wyoming stream. Twelve Sleep County is fearful of more attacks. Joe Pickett is called in with a grizzly hunting team to put the bear down.
Enter the Mother Bears, a rich female duo who want to save the grizzly. Their meddling makes the hunt even more deadly.
Over two hundred miles away, another monster is being released from Rawlings penitentiary. Dallas Cates, famed rodeo cowboy and merciless villain, is out to settle the score with the people who put him away. Joe, Nate and their families are high on the list.
Box tightens the noose as Joe and Nate investigate bear-y deaths in two separate locations. Cates pairs up with two more rogues to set the trap for his enemies.
The result ain't pretty.
CJ Box pulls no punches as teeth and claws mangle, guns blaze and falcons fly.
Enjoy the new Joe Pickett adventure. But be prepared for a lot of shocks. You might even cry a bit.
Three Inch Teeth will rip and tear your reading chair to bits. And you'll love every minute of it.
This series would probably be good for a book club. I lost interest in reading the book because I prefer westerns that are more philosophical Ike Larry McMurtry or Cormac McCarthy.
I have read all twenty-something books in the Joe Pickett series and they get better with time. Another great installment, however, I was sad to say goodbye to so many favorite characters. On the edge of my seat to see how all of this plays out in the next novel Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the advanced copy. I look forward to recommending this in February!
Once again, C.J. Box and narrator David Chandler bring Joe Pickett to life in this story of Joe's latest adventure. Dallas Cates, a criminal Joe helped put away years before, has been released from prison and is targeting all those who he believes were responsible for putting him there. Unfortunately, notification of Joe and his family wasn't made so they aren't aware Cates is on the loose.
At the same time, a series of grizzly bear attacks are plaguing the area and Joe enlists the help of his good (though-he-frequently-skirts-the-law) friend Nate Romanowski to help chase down the bear. Nate's also on Cates' 'kill list,' as are a local judge, county prosecutor, prison guard, and Cates's lawyer. With wife Mary Beth's research skills to support them, Joe and Nate set out to solve both mysteries and find unusual link.
Box's fans will be happy to read this latest installment in the series.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Joe is unhappy about a prisoner who was recently released. He doesn't believe he's changed. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning
Three-Inch Teeth by C.J. Box(Joe Pickett #24)- A most exciting and violent addition to the saga of a Game Warden and his family. A grizzly bear is on a rampage, killing all over the map. Meanwhile Dallas Cates, who swore revenge on Joe Pickett, has gotten out of prison. He has a sadistic plan in mind for Joe and his friends and family. The intensity never lets up in this wild ride of a story. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC, and thank C.J. Box for another awesome page-turner.
This was my very first Joe Pickett book that I have read and I’m just saying it won’t be my last. There are two different themes throughout this book, that tie together in one big shocking ending. A mama bear is on a killing rampage after humans accidentally killed her cubs. What is strange is that she seems to be traveling hundreds of miles a couple of days and targeting certain people. Meanwhile, Dalles Cates, Joe and Marybeth Pickett’s nemesis gets released from prison and has his own revenge on his mind. This book had me hooked!
My dad and brother are fans of C.J. Box and the Joe Pickett series. The only reason I’ve heard about it is through them and having watched the TV series. Even though I haven’t read any other books in this series, or even by this author, I decided to read this book. I’m so glad I did. This book was so good! I was completely blown away by the suspense and the shocking turn of events. I can’t even imagine what’s going to happen in the next book.
Needless to say my dad is very jealous that I got to read an early copy of this book. If you’re a fan of this series, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. If you’ve never read any of the other books in the series, like me, I still think you’ll thoroughly enjoy this book. It was so action packed, suspenseful, and jaw-dropping.
When a series of bear attacks take place in saddlestring Joe Pickett sets out to help find and eradicate the animal before more people are killed. The Joe Pickett series is one of my most looked forward to every year and Box never disappoints, three inch teeth is no exception! Lots of action and mystery that plays out and leaves you speechless!
C.J. Box continues to write great stories. This is one of my favorite series and I look forward to the next book each year. He continues to tackle tough topics such as patriotism vs extremism. The main character Joe Pickett supports firearms and responsible use of public lands, while also defending wildlife and conservation. The story is full of action and suspense. It’s a really wild ride.
Dallas Cates is baa-aack but now riding mechanical bears rather than mechanical bulls. Yep, really. You would think these red necks would figure out that Joe is a lot smarter than the average bear and would stay on the straight and narrow - or at least up in the hills where they can cause no trouble. But no. Nate and Joe have to smack them down yet again. Unfortunately, a few of our favorite people end up paying the price in this installment. Three-Inch Teeth is a great read in the Joe Picket tradition. Kick back over the holidays and enjoy a great read.
I didn’t realize how much I had missed Joe Pickett until I read this book! Joe is a game warden in Saddlestring, Wyoming. There is a grizzly bear on a rampage. He/she kills Joe’s daughter’s boyfriend. While Joe and other game wardens are hunting him, he/she attacks again. Not only are grizzly bears not native to the area, this one seems to be traveling long distances and targeting people that Joe and his wife, Marybeth, know. Joe also has to deal with an organization that doesn’t want any grizzlies killed, not even violent bears. I love that CJ Box leaves an opening for another book that would be a continuation of this storyline. I can’t wait.
Wow! Wow! Wow! I’ve seen reviews start with…What did I just read!!?? ….and I’m now understanding why after reading Three-Inch Teeth. This is the BEST C.J. Box book ever - exhilarating, intense, unbelievable!
This book is part of an ongoing Joe Pickett series but easily and enjoyably can be read as a standalone. And all the better that we’re set up now for several of the storylines to continue in future books.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the opportunity to read this awesome ARC.
This was a really good book! Fast-moving, engaging, and thrilling. I loved how he wove the two stories together in a way you would never expect.
So excited to have received an ARC for the upcoming installment in the Joe Pickett series. I found it hard to put down and the author was very clever in setting up future storylines. I won’t give away any spoilers or plot lines, but there was sadness in this one. Can’t wait to see where we go next. I think Pickett fans will really like this one. Fantastic.
A story about apex predators which I could not put down until I finished. Joe’s attempts to solve several murders supposedly caused by a rogue grizzly bear opens traces of his past which will continue to plague him in his future. What a great series! I received an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions expressed are my own.
A very brutal Joe Pickett, Dallas Cates is out of prison and seeking revenge on those who had a stake in putting him there. He’s revenge list includes his lawyer, a judge, the county prosecutor, a prison guard,Nate Romanowski - and Joe Pickett.. Cates uses a rogue bear as his cover. Will Joes be able to stop him before he becomes a victim?
Twenty-fourth in the Joe Pickett series, C.J. Box's Three-inch Teeth (G.P., Putnam 2024) is one of the best of the recent Pickett books. In this one, Joe's good friend and possibly future father in law of his daughter Sheridan suffers the death of his only son when attacked by a massive grizzly while fishing. It almost drives the bereaved father out of his mind, but he manages to stay focused long enough to hunt for the man-killing grizzly with a taste for human flesh. It becomes complicated and highly unusual when the grizzly seems to go in a killing rampage over a vast geographic area that defies belief. Joe and his hastily-assembled bear-hunting team struggle to unravel the mystery while Sheridan distracts herself from losing her almost-fiancée by managing her first solo job as Master Falconer with Nate Romanowski’s company Yarak. That sounds simple--using the falcons to drive out hundreds from sparrows who have nested in a barn--except that the client is odd and not without surprises.
This story is fast-moving, perfectly paced, with a blend of plot lines that never let the reader relax. I can’t say enough good about it.
OMG. I read this in one day.
A rogue bear is attacking humans. Dallas Cates is released from prison. He is still a sick and vile human being who pairs up with someone worse. He has a list of who he is going after, the people he feels are responsible for sending him to prison and all the deaths in his family. It's so hard to go into too many details withot leaving spoilers.
Marybeth is the brains of the family.
Except for one quick aside, Lucy and April are not mentioned.
There is a lot of blood and a lot of death. No one is safe.
Grab this book the day it comes out and plan on not putting it down.
I have read all of C J Box’s books, and as always this was enjoyable and hard to put down. I didn’t understand Bishop’s talk with Axel, and hope that it will be clarified in the next book. Please read this series in order! I liked the story and really liked Sheridan and her encounters, missed hearing about her sisters, but the story takes place in a very short time, so understandable. Highly recommend, but must be read in order!!!
