C.J. Box seemingly never disappoints. Three-Inch Teeth is no exception, taking what in lesser hands would be an outlandish premise and making it wholly believable and harrowing. The story revolves around Joe Pickett’s arch nemesis Dallas Cates, whose release from prison coincides with a string of horrific grizzly bear attacks all over Wyoming. First, Joe’s daughter Sheridan’s would-be fiancé is attacked. As others follow, the pattern becomes confounding, as grizzlies don’t normally travel the distances this one presumably did between attacks. The answer slowly becomes clear, not without considerable help from Joe’s wife Marybeth. There is an interesting side story about a job Sheridan is doing and the woman she meets while doing it. Nate Romanowski, at least as fascinating a character as his best friend Joe, is prepared to help solve the mystery. I hope Nate will return better than ever in the next book in the series. In the meantime, do not hesitate to pick up this admirable entry into the long-running Joe Pickett series.

HUGE thanks to both G.P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Three-Inch Teeth!! This book is #24 in the Joe Pickett series and the expected publication date is February 27, 2024.

I have read every book in this fabulous series and plan on reading all of the future books, as well! Mr. Box is a Wyoming native and has worked as a ranch hand, surveyor, fishing guide, small-town newspaper reporter, and editor, which adds to the authenticity of Joe Pickett, et all.

Three-Inch Teeth is a little darker than some of the previous books and a couple of things happened that made me sad, but life isn't made up of just sunshine and rainbows, is it? I hope this series never ends!

I found this book to be unputdownable and highly recommend it!!

Excellent installment in the Joe Pickett series by C. J. Box. A grizzly bear is terrorizing the area, at the same time that Dallas Cates, the Picketts’ old nemesis, has been released from prison.

The book seemed a little short, but not short on tension.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

If you have not read CJ Box's Joe Pickett series, I envy you. This is book #24 in a series where each book is excellent and the characters quickly become part of your family.

We've had the good fortune to watch Joe and Marybeth raise their daughters in a Wyoming that few people will ever see. They've gained friends and enemies along the way, but always manage to do what's right by the people they care for. Each book has a story that is central to this one book plus there are several over arcing plot lines that keep Joe on his toes and sets up the story for the next book. THREE - INCH TEETH refers to the canines of a grizzly that we meet in the first chapter as it sets the tone for the rest of this book. I'm calling this an OH, NO book because every chapter contains at least one scene where I said OH, No!!!!

Box manages to slam shut the door on some arcing stories and opens the door to several that we'll visit again in the next few books. The worst part of a Joe Pickett book is the wait for the next one. 5 easy stars because I can't give it more.

Wow. This book had some of the most terrifying moments you can have between nature and man. I love how CJ brings back certain antagonists into the fold and obviously in this book there are some real HEAVY stakes. Also, without giving away any spoilers it absolutely sets up for the next book and will be an instant pre order when it becomes available. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Thank you Putnam and Netgalley for the ARC!

One thing I love about CJ Box is that he weaves past characters into his new stories. It makes you feel comfortable right away with the characters and story you’re about to embark on. CJ Box is very good about describing the scenery to the point that you feel like you’re there- like you can feel and smell and taste everything that the characters are experiencing.

I didn’t love the grizzly bear contraption that was used in the story- it felt a little far fetched and almost silly.

I also didn’t love the ending, it felt a little open ended which is different than the rest of Box’s books that I’ve read. That’s a personal preference thing though.

Overall it was a great read and I had a lot of fun with it!

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC. I fell in love with the Joe Pickett series a few years ago and now a new book is one of the highlights of the year. I had high expectations for this book and they were met. It was a very engaging storyline and it kept me guessing until the very end. I do feel like the ending was a bit rushed but overall it was an entertaining story!

Definitely not his best, or maybe I was expecting a lot more tension. Love all C.J. Box books but thought it was just average.
Thanks NetGally for advance copy

I enjoyed this series from the first book and hope it continues for many more. The characters have developed and grown over the series. This book has an excellent plot and characters are true to prior books. Highly recommend this.

Another excellent novel from CJ Box with high tension, evocative descriptions of the wilderness of Wyoming and unexpected twists. There are several shocking twists and “can’t put down” action sequences. Joe and Nate remain true to their values that, while they may not agree on methods, always have each other’s back. The combination of real bear attacks and copycat murderers is truly terrifying while our heroes and their families and colleagues struggle to stop the horror.

This book was a wild ride! Grizzly Bear attacks and vendetta murders complicate Joe Pickett's world, including the lives of those he loves. NO ONE IS SAFE! This book is a compulsive, un-put-down-able read!

JOE PICKETT IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! "Three-Inch Teeth" was most definitely a sit-until-you-finish-in-a-day read!!!!!

Some authors with long running series tend to level off somewhere in their numerous missives, but C. J. Box doesn’t lose a step. His books with iconic game warden, Joe Pickett just keep getting better and better.

Joe finds himself on the hunt for a rogue grizzly bear who has already killed one person, (his daughter, Sheridan’s boyfriend) and viciously attacked another. But when horrendous attacks begin happening all over the state with people Joe and his wife personally know, well something seems out of sorts.

With wonderful characters, beautiful country and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat please put this one on your to read list. In the end who is the most chilling—-man or beast? See for yourself.

I’ve been addicted to Joe Picket novels since the very first one. I’ve loved every single one and this one did not disappoint.
One of my favorite series!!

I had sort of given up on CJ Box and Joe Picket, his hero. They were becoming a little too rigid and traditional.
Well I changed my mind after reading Three-Inch Teeth! There are really scary villains and terrifying situations.
The book is sad, touching and emotional. I read it in one day and didn't sleep for one night!
The ending takes all the relationships in a new direction.
Can't wait for the next installment.
