Thank you to netgalley for the audiobook.
I really enjoyed listening to this lovely little tale. It was a great story with great wintry festive atmosphere. Will look out for other stories in this series
This audiobook, plus another by this author, took me a while to get through and I could not understand why. Well, it finally dawned on me that I did not like the narrator . There was something about her voice and the way she read that just did not agree with my ears, but I am sure she will be wonderful for others.
Onward to the story....
This book has religious themes and plot points. I was raised in the Church and have chosen to no longer attend. The themes in this book were not overwhelming.
This was a short story perfect for Christmas. I liked the characters and could imagine some people in .my life being represented by the characters on the page.
Sin e it is a shorter story, there is not a ton of depth, but what there is, is actually pretty good.
Definitely wished I would have switched to the print copy instead of touching it out if I think it was overall a good read.
Thank you NetGalley, the author and the publishing company forum for the ability to listen to the audiobook and review.
The Ghost of Christmas to Come by D.P. Conway and narrated by Danielle Gensler is the second book in the Novella Series and what a sweet series this has been. A lovely audiobook to listen to to get the Christmas season started.
I truly believed this book at first glanced was a Scrooge to kind heart well rounded person. As the book started there are lots of questions about who the main character is and what their life is like. I was surprised to find out it wasn’t a “now” period of time, this story took place in 1950s. As the story continues your heart will start to warm toward the main character and deeply connect to her sorrow.
This book is one of a series by this American writer. He put pen to paper during the Covid pandemic but the books read as if they are tales of old, passed down the generations.
It is an old-fashioned type of story with a ghostly slant. It is not my favourite of the set and would probably not choose to listen to it again, unlike the others.
This was a very good audiobook! I really like the narrator and the way the author writes! I plan to read more by this author!
The story was beautiful!
The ghost of Christmas to come is a really a sweet short ghost story it’s a perfect festive read even better by a roaring log fire
Maddie lives alone in a big house near a graveyard. Everyday, as she wakes up, she is greeted by a man who asks her if she is ready to come home and everyday she tells him she is home. Often, children come by her house, playing and making noise and she always chases them away. One day, while running away from her, a young girl falls and is hurt. Reluctantly, Maddie brings her into her house and comforts her while tending to her skinned knees. This small event will change everything for Maddie.
The Ghost of Christmas to Come is the second short novella from The Christmas Collection by D.P. Conway. It is a quiet tale of how loss and grief can prevent us from moving on but small acts of kindness can bring redemption. A very heartwarming and enjoyable tale. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Danielle Gensler who does a wonderful job.
I received an audiobook of this novel from Netgalley and BooksGoSocial in exchange for an honest review
Book 2 in this Christmas collection is very much like a Dickens story!
This little old lady lives on the perimeter of a cemetery and a man she assumes is a handyman is doing things for her.
The narrator hints that not all is what it seems.
I wonderful heart warming Christmas Ghost story.
Thank you NetGalley & Day Lights Publishing House.
My favourite book in this series! This story touched my heart. It was bitter sweet story which I really loved. Highly recommend you all to read it! Each book in this series is a standalone so one can read any book without worrying about the order. I like the paced and characters and the plot itself is so sweet 🥹❤️

What an enthralling narrative 'The Ghost of Christmas to Come' unfolds. In the solitude of an ancient Massachusetts hamlet, perched on the fringes of a sprawling hillside cemetery, resides a mysterious woman forgotten by time, ensnared in a history she dares not confront. The trajectory of her existence takes a transformative turn the day she encounters an exceptionally remarkable child.
This tale serves as a poignant reminder of life's essential priorities. The profound impact of the story, coupled with the inherent warmth of Christmas, where generosity and thoughts of others prevail, captivated me. It stands as a remarkable ode to a woman's resilience in overcoming the tragedy of losing her spouse and family, showcasing that, despite her wounded heart, life continues.
The narrative challenges preconceived notions about the elderly, urging us not to perceive them as mere vessels devoid of memories. In our fast-paced, globalized society, their lives often conceal sorrows and regrets unfathomable to us. The story unfolds with a splendid twist, weaving elements of generosity, compassion, and goodwill towards strangers—everything one could desire in a brief yet impactful Christmas tale.
Twelve Days, Nava, The Ghost of Christmas to Come, Starry Night and Home for Christmas are five novellas part of the Christmas Collection by D. P. Conway. I listened to them as audiobooks and overall enjoyed the stories (some a little more than the others). We can sense the strong faith the author has in the way he has written each story filled with hope, miracles, second chances and happy endings.
I received an ALC of each book by the publisher BooksGoSocial Audio and the author via NetGalley.
Twelve Days (A Tale of Christmas) (narrated by Danielle Gensler) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nava (A Tale of Redemption) (narrated by Danielle Gensler) ⭐⭐⭐
The Ghost of Christmas to Come (narrated by Danielle Gensler) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Starry Night (Not all Who Wander are Lost) (narrated by Randy Hames) ⭐⭐⭐💫
Home for Christmas (narrated by Steve Corona) ⭐⭐⭐💫
The Ghost of Christmas to Come by D. P. Conway felt like a vintage, throw back to traditional Christmas and it made me feel nostalgic for the past. It was well-written with great characterizations.
I was excited to read some good Christmas stories for the holiday season and I grabbed this one not realizing it was a book 2. But the story was sweet and fast and I didn't mind picking the story up here. It was a bit sappy but still a good reminder about what's important in life.
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
A sweet Christmasy tale about love, lose and finding inner peace. Lovely, quick listen about finding acceptance and being accepted.
This is a gorgeous little Christmas novella about an old woman who has been alone for a long time, when some kind people treat her at Christmas time. At the end of the book there is a big surprise when they try to find the woman at a later date.
I loved the audiobook narrator, who did a great job, and she had a lovely voice.
This is book 2 in this Christmas series, but it can be read as a standalone. Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
This is a Holiday ghost story about helping an old soul move on through the magic of Christmas. Well told and very enjoyable!
You’d think the title would have been a tip off for me, but I still was unsure where this story was going. I enjoy being surprised, so I was thankful for that. The dialogue between characters could hav head more fluidity, however, overall a cute Christmas story to get you in the holiday spirit. No pun intended.
How sweet this story was. Unfortunately, loneliness is one of the greatest scourges of our time, and this story portrays this theme beautifully. I hope this beautiful story touches your heart, as it touched mine.
Part 2 of DP Conway's Christmas Short Story Collection, which focuses on the spirit of Christmas, giving, and helping others in hardship, with a haunting twist.
