Escape to the Swiss Chalet by Carrie Walker is a heartwarming tale that takes readers on a journey from the familiar comforts of home to the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss Alps. In this delightful book, we meet Holly Roberts, a woman known for her aversion to cold weather. So it comes as a surprise to everyone, including Holly herself, when she decides to embark on an adventure and relocate to the snowy landscapes of Verbier. The catalyst for this unexpected change of heart is a devastating breakup. Seeking solace and a fresh start, Holly finds herself working as a sous-chef for the wealthy twins, Genevieve and the enigmatic Luca. As she settles into her new role, she discovers that the winter season in the Swiss Alps holds more for her than just a job; it becomes a transformative experience. One of the novel's strengths lies in its vivid portrayal of Verbier, a place bursting with opulence and inhabited by millionaires. Holly initially feels like a fish out of water in this world of snow-capped chalets, but she soon finds solace and friendship in her fellow chalet girl, Liv, and the talented chef, Xavier. Together, they navigate the intricacies of this unfamiliar environment, teaching Holly the joys of après-ski and the art of conquering chair lifts. However, the true allure of Holly's new life lies in the magnetic presence of Luca. Described as rich, handsome, and kind, Luca becomes a central figure in Holly's journey. But as the story unfolds, the reader can't help but wonder: what is the catch? Carrie Walker skillfully builds suspense, keeping readers engaged and eager to unravel the mysteries surrounding Luca and his intentions. Escape to the Swiss Chalet is a delightful blend of romance, self-discovery, and the beauty of embracing new experiences. Carrie Walker's writing effortlessly transports readers to the picturesque Swiss Alps, making them feel as though they are right there alongside Holly, breathing in the crisp mountain air and marveling at the stunning landscapes. The characters are well-developed, relatable, and their interactions add depth to the narrative. In conclusion, Escape to the Swiss Chalet is a captivating novel that will warm the hearts of readers. It takes us on a journey of personal growth, friendship, and the power of embracing unexpected opportunities. Carrie Walker weaves a tale that is both enchanting and thought-provoking, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Holly's life.

This review is based on an excerpt provided by NetGalley. I love the title & cover, but based on this excerpt, I am not interested in reading more of this book. The dialogue was really stilted and unnatural to me. I also just didn't feel particularly connected to the characters. Maybe the characters have to grow on you, but the excerpt just didn't entice me.

Just when I got invested in the story, I reached the end of the extract. I don't like George even the slightest bit, but I'm definitely curious to where the story takes Holly. I hope she gets to discover a new career path and live her dreams. I hope settling doesn't limit her, she sounds like a fun person. It's so fluently written that I had no issue being attached to the story so now I might have to order the book!

This book wasn’t written for me. I didn’t resonate with any of the characters but that doesn’t mean this is a “bad” book by any means. It flowed well, the dialogue was great between characters. My son is named Luca and I just couldn’t get past that lol

I don’t really know what to think of the snippet. I don’t know if I am a big fan of the style of writing. I could tell immediately that George wasn’t a good guy so I guess that was good. What I didn’t like is how the people talk, it seems unnatural. This does have potential tho.

Thanks so much to Carrie Walker and Aria & Aries for the sample of this ARC. It was a short snippet of the book but I’m extremely excited to pick up the full book to read!

I really wish I would have been given more chapters as. sample; 2 short chapters really is not enough to get a feel of the book or leave an accurate review. I did really enjoy this author’s writing style tho; I flew right through the sample and was excited to find out what happened next in the story! I would definitely read the whole story.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me a snippet of this ARC. All thoughts are my own.

This book seems so good. Holly is struggling in finding who she is. She's bogged down by an 8 year relationship and has been planning her wedding.

I would love to read more and find out how Holly learns to cope with all of the struggles she's going through. I'd love to watch her find herself.

I enjoyed this excerpt of Escape to the Swiss Chalet. I went in blind to the story, and the first two chapters did a great job of setting up the characters of Holly and George. The descriptions of food, and Holly’s work as a sommelier were mouthwatering and fascinating. However I think I’m most looking forward to reading more about Basil the kitten! His views on George are setting off alarm bells for me…

I’m really looking forward to picking up a copy of this book when it comes out, and getting back into the story!

Thank you to Aria & Aries, and NetGalley for an excerpt of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’m giving a rating of a three. The only reason being that it was only an excerpt and not enough of the story to truly define the character depth, plot of the story or relationship between the main characters. I’m very interested in buying the full length copy to give it a full review!

Thank you to NetGalley, Aria & Carrie for the except early read copy!

Loved the excerpt! Quick look into the main characters. After just a few pages I am drawn to the characters. This small glimpse left me already wanting to know what happens next. I’m off to get the retaining the book in order to find out.

What a brief excerpt! Honestly, there wasn't enough plot movement for me to know whether I want to read the rest of the novel. The premise sounded cute enough but the story looks like it may move slowly.
