The story is good.
Holly's motivation from being fired from her job to finding a new one which suits her interests is very positive.
I am looking forward to reading the entire story.
Margot is a little heavy handed in her advice, for me. Some people have the advice thing down, but I think it was too much here. George. No thanks on him. I am interested to see how Holly handles that drunken situation. Seems like she needs to figure herself out a bit.
Book review ✨Escape to the Swiss chalet ✨ by @carriewalkerauthor .

✨overview of book✨.
Holly Roberts is well-known among family and friends for despising the cold, so no one is more surprised than her when she agrees to pack her bags and move to the Swiss Alps. But after getting her heart broken, spending the winter season working as a sous-chef for wealthy twins Genevieve and gorgeous Luca, is exactly what the doctor ordered..

I received a extract of this book from @netgalley @neverending_netgalley thank you , I enjoyed the extract that much I had to go and purchase the book.
Best decision I made , this was so wonderfully written , full of friendship , heartbreak and learning to accept to move on.
What I loved as well was the plot about cold water therapy as it’s something I like to do so it was great to read about it.
Can’t wait to read the 2nd book.
When I buy by ebooks at end of the month this will be first purchased as a really enjoyed this authors writing .

Thank you to Netgalley for this excerpt.
The first two chapters have me intrigued to learn what happens next. The excerpt ends with George leaving the restaurant drunk after leaving a bar. Holly and George are planning on getting married and have put all of their money into a new house and their upcoming wedding. That's all we learn really in the first two chapters. George wants to be married by 30 and have two kids by 35.
Just from the first chapter I know It's right up my street, I've never heard of the Author before.
I cannot wait to read in full.
Didn’t realize this was only an excerpt, so I can’t really evaluate it. The word “excerpt” should really precede the title - it got buried on me. Sorry.
Thanks for the chance, NetGalley.
This one was okay. Being that it was just an excerpt, it didn’t leave me much to imagine or picture. It was very brisk and didn’t allow for the reader to really get into the story. George seems a though he’s a guy with a plan, but Holly doesn’t want to follow, or does so reluctantly. I imagine things go south a bit, but then pick back up. I wasn’t super enthralled with the storyline, but might could talk myself into reading more. Cover is darling!
I received an excerpt of this book from Netgalley in exchange for a free and honest review. I loved the first chapters that I read. Holly is an interesting character and I love some of the things she said such as the comment on her Gordon Ramsay cut out. Walker is very good at capturing her voice. I am planning to eventually read the whole book.
Well I’m certainly intrigued to see where this story will be going! Will definitely be reading the full book!
This seems like a nice winter read. The first two chapters reel you in to want more. I cannot wait to follow August's winter journey at the Swiss Chalet.
Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read an excerpt out of this winter book
I only had the extract to read from this book, therefore I only can give feedback to this part of the book. I liked the beginning of the story and how the story began, for me it happens a bit too much in the first chapters therefore I was a bit confused but I think if I had the rest of the book I would get into the story real quick. It sounded like a cute story, but that’s all I can say about the book because I don’t know what happens next there. To be honest now I am really curious what’s going to happen, but that’s why I am only giving it 2 stars, I only read few pages, I don’t know how the story will continue and I only can form my opinion on a few pages, there is simply too little material to evaluate it fairly. However, I think it has good potential.
I love the title and cover of this book, I feel like that alone will hook readers. The first two chapters I was given were adorable; this story has real potential and I’m excited to read it and see how it goes. Only critique for me would be that in chapter one the story doesn’t flow very well due to word choice. “Officially official” and “straightjacketed” are just some examples. With some switches, the story will flow much easier for the reader.
This excerpt definitely peaked my interest for this book! I think at some parts the writing wasn't as fluid and the descriptions were a little to deep. Regardless, I am interested to see where this story goes!
I only read the first chapter, that was what I was given with the ARC, and I unfortunately was not impressed.
The dialogue was very corny and felt extremely fake; almost like it was trying to jokingly impersonate Bridgerton. Also, I know I only read the first chapter, but it went from a serious couple with a Man who was very prim and proper to him all of a sudden showing up drunk to her work? I was left feeling confused.
I don't think I would have continued reading this book but I also don't like saying never.
I really appreciate Carrie Walker for allowing me to have a sneak peak at her book, Escape to the Swiss Chalet.
I really enjoyed the first two chapters of Escape to the Swiss Chalet that we get in this extract. The dialogue and relationships between characters, particularly Holly and her boss Margot, felt really natural and realistic. I liked that even from the start we aren't just focusing on Holly's romantic relationships but also her experience of trying to navigate life in her 20s, such as deciding whether to go for a job with a good salary or one that she enjoys. The pacing was spot on and I found that I flew through this extract and was wanting to read on when I reached the end.
I would love to read the rest of this story, especially as the Swiss chalet sounds like the perfect setting for a cozy, festive romance!
The beginning of the book provides readers with a hook. The story convinces the reader to continue reading the book. In this case, the extract is a great way to hook readers to purchase the book.
The sample chapters did a great job of setting up Holly's life with her fiance George, and the beginnings of their troubles while still leaving the reader wanting to know more. The writing style is simplistic, but clear and engaging throughout.
I'm keen to see how the story continues!
I want more!!! This snippet of Carrie Walker’s debut wasn’t enough for me, I needed more… so I went and bought the rest of it to read!
From what I got, I could sense Holly’s life was not going to continue on the trajectory Simon had put them both on and my gut tells me his trip to the pub is the turning point.
I think I might have to read the full caboodle next!
Holly is known to despise the cold, so everyone is surprised when she takes a job in the Swiss Alps working for wealthy twins,Genevieve and Luca. She soon makes new friends with Liv and Xavier.
Not going to lie my favorite part of this book was the beautiful cover, it drew me in. While the book was not as great as the cover I still enjoyed it for the most part. I think Xavier was annoying and arrogant so I had a hard time attaching myself to the book.
Absolutely loved the first chapters in this book. I am looking forward to reading the novel when it’s released.
