I read books 1-7 to prepare for this ARC and I am so glad that I did. I enjoyed watching Erika heal from her husband's death and start to move on. However, she still has some work to do! She is kind of a loose cannon when it comes to the chain of command but she gets results! Which I think is what saves her bacon time and time again. She really needs to take some self-defense classes b/c the bad guys keep betting the better of her! I can't wait to read that next installment. Robert Bryndza is on my always-read list for any book her writes!

I will literally never get enough of Erika Foster novels. Even at book eight, this series stays fresh and interesting, and Erika seems like an old friend who I dont get the opportunity to catch up with often enough. Her complex cases are only one of the things I love about this series. I'm also attached to the cast of characters at this point, not only Erika, but Moss and Peterson. Lethal Vengeance is another in a string of fantastic thrillers!

Lethal Vengeance is a very chilling, twisty, serial killer mystery and is book number 8 from the ‘Detective Erika Foster’ series of books.

This book is definitely full of tension and trust me when i say that i am all here for it!

I absolutely loved becoming immersed in the story and easily found myself whizzing through the pages as i just could not wait to find out how the whole story would unfold.

I loved this storyline so much and really enjoyed everything about it, from the characters to the absolute knicker gripper of a storyline - AMAZING………

It's been quite some time since I've last posted a review but I've been incredibly busy. I have been able to read a few books so from now on I will be posting a review more regularly. This one is about one of my favourite authors @robertbryndza and his detective Erica Foster series called Lethal Vengeance. I received a copy from Raven Street publishing via Netgalley and it came out on the 8th of February.

When Detective Erika Foster finds a politician dead in his own bed, it is quickly ruled as natural causes. The case was closed until two more victims are found in the same manner. No, the higher ups can no longer ignore it but how much push back will Foster get? Will she be able to solve this case before it's covered up?

Just like all the other books in this series, this one is a superb read. It has a combination of action and tension which makes it an absolute blast to read. It's a fast paced and tense thriller with all the characters you love - the perfect combination! I would recommend all these books in this series as it is a brilliant series with an amazing cast of characters. You absolutely won't regret it!

5/5 ⭐

Book #8 in the Detective Erika Foster series. Each book could easily be read as a stand alone but you'd miss some very good police procedural thrillers. Robert Bryndza has a legion of fans that know he brings his best to every story so they plan a binge read with each new title.
A prominent politician is found dead under some very compromising conditions. Detective Foster's supervisors rule it death by natural causes and the investigation is halted. But the killer is not done. Bryndza plays the scene perfectly, how do they expect her to solve these crimes when covering up is the first response? The story will take some sudden turns when you'd least expect and keep the guesses changing with each chapter. Lethal Vengeance is another great thriller from Robert Bryndza, but that's what his fans have come to expect!

I love this series so much, and I'm always so excited when a new book comes out! Erika is such a great character, and I was glad that we got to see a little more of her personal life in this one. I always love her tough attitude and how she will stop at nothing to solve her cases, even if it means going against the higher-ups! Basically....she's a real badass!

This was such a well plotted story with good twists! I liked that we got some POVs from the killer, including background information that made me feel a little sympathetic. I loved the fast pacing and short chapters and how the investigation came together in the end. I didn't love that this one ended in a cliffhanger, but that's okay because in the author's note, he stated that a 9th book is coming!!

This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend starting at the beginning of the series so that you really get to know Erika because she's pretty awesome!

Thank you, @netgalley, Raven Street Publishing, and @robertbryndza for the gifted e-arc!

I’ve been waiting for this one! The DCI Erika Foster series is fast moving, gripping and well written.
The hunt for the killer keeps you engaged. Lots of twists.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced digital copy of this book.

Just like the previous books by this author, I was gripped by this story filled with mystery, tension, and suspense, and kept me awake just to read more. It is mainly Erica's POV but there are a few moments where we have another POV from a mysterious person, and it was an interesting addition to the story. I liked how Erica's character is growing and would love to see how it will develop in the next installments.

Erika Foster on a night out with her partner comes across a body tied up and murdered.. this is a welcome return to the Erika Foster series. Plotting and characters are well drawn as with all Roberts books. Plenty of twists and turns, The Annabelle chapters added really to the story. Thanks to Raven Street Publishing and Netgalley for a review copy

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

This is the 8th book in the Detective Erika Foster series, each of these books could easily be read as stand alone books but they are all so good, I recommend reading the whole series. Erika is one of my favourite characters. This book was sooo good! I was so excited to see a new book about Erika Foster, I have been waiting patiently for it.

While out for dinner with Igor, Erika finds herself at the scene of a murder of a high profile person, but is quickly notifed that another is on ther case and it sppears that something suspicious is going on. Erika is then called another high profile murder and notices the similarities. Something is going on, something including sex, torture, murder and intrigue and secrets, lots of secrets. As Erika and her team do all they can to keep this investigation on track, can they link the murders and solve them before the killer escapes.

Love the characters in this book! Lots of twists and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Thanks to NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for access to this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

DI Erika Foster is back.... fifty now.. still rubbing the brass the wrong way and having all sorts of complications in her personal life. But my goodness, I adore her character.

Although it is the eighth book in the series, new readers could treat it as a standalone. But honestly why would you do that and rob yourself of getting to know one of the best fictional DI's around? Also, how cute is Igor and Erika's relationship?

As the chapters alternated between Erika and our serial killer, I found the whole mystery very engrossing and once I began reading I couldn't stop. I feel Robert Bryndza has a very explosive case for Erika and his readers very soon with the next book. A book that I am eagerly anticipating.

In the meantime, isn't there a television producer out there somewhere that is ready to bring DI Erika Foster to the screen?

Erika was out for dinner with her partner when she came across a murder. A man tied up like a hog with mask over his mouth. He happened to be a prominent politician and the murder is swept under the rug as natural causes.

Two months later another well know footballer is found murdered the crime scene identical to the politician. The Met cannot ignore the serial killer on the loose. Erika puts everything into finding a connection and brining the killer down. There are people who’ll stop at nothing to keep secrets hidden and as usual Erika is faced with red tape in every direction.

Scandals, secrets, blackmail and a good old fashioned revenge plot has you turning pages until the very end. This next instalment can be read as a stand-alone however I highly recommend reading this incredible series. I love Erika and she’s a character I find comfort and hope within! Bravo Robert & thank you NetGalley

Best in the Series

Whenever I find myself under the weather, craving comfort and immersion in a world I adore, there's one go-to remedy: a book by Robert Bryndza. Formerly a staunch Stephen King enthusiast, I've seamlessly transitioned into the era of Bryndza, and I doubt I'll ever look back. He reigns supreme in the realm of thrillers, and his narratives are precisely my cup of tea. Erika Foster, the protagonist of his series, continues to evolve, revealing new depths with each installment. From her origins as a formidable cop to her current iteration, she remains a character of profound complexity and resonance.

In "Lethal Vengeance," Detective Erika Foster is thrust into a chilling case when she discovers the naked, hog-tied corpse of politician Neville Lomas in his own bed. Initially dismissed as death by natural causes, the unsettling pattern emerges with the subsequent murders of a prominent casting director and a star footballer, both bound with identical knots. The Met can no longer ignore the glaring truth: a serial killer roams the streets of London, driven by a thirst for retribution.

Having been an avid follower of this series from its inception, I eagerly anticipate each new installment featuring Erika Foster and her team. Bryndza's portrayal of Foster as a tenacious and boundary-pushing investigator, unwavering in her quest for justice, is nothing short of compelling. She challenges the rigid hierarchy of the force, unyielding in her pursuit of results, a trait that sets her apart.

"Leathal Vengeance" stands out as the pinnacle of the series thus far, offering a narrative that is intricate, ominous, and utterly engrossing. The authenticity of character interactions and the meticulous research behind the themes enrich the reading experience, weaving a tapestry of intrigue that holds readers spellbound. Bryndza's masterful storytelling ensures that one could easily devour the entire book in a single sitting.

For those unfamiliar with Bryndza's work, starting with the first book is advisable. However, any novel by this author promises a journey into gripping suspense and immersive storytelling. "Lethal Vengeance" exemplifies Bryndza's prowess in crafting captivating narratives, cementing his status as a maestro of the thriller genre.

Thank you Netgalley for this amazing eARC.

Robert Bryndza (https://robertbryndza.com) is the author of nearly 20 novels. Lethal Vengeance was published a few days ago and is the eighth novel in his Detective Erika Foster series. It is the 9th book I completed reading in 2024.

Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own! Due to scenes of violence and mature language, I categorize this book/novel as R.

Detective Chief Inspector Erika Foster is 50, and knows she is beginning to slow down. She wonders how much longer she will have before retirement. While Foster is an excellent detective, she has a way of roughling the political feathers within the establishment. When the body of Neville Lomas, a member of the House of Commons, is found, there is debate on whether she should get the case. The victim’s history of rough sex and the fact that he is found bound and naked raises the potential for scandal.

The Lomas death is attributed to misadventure, and the case is closed. Foster considers the outcome a government coverup. Two months later, the star footballer Jamie Teague is found dead in circumstances similar to Lomas. Foster takes on the investigation and begins to tie the two deaths together. The investigation uncovers a third death that had happened earlier and which is similar to that of Teague. Aside from the condition of the corpse, Polaroid photos are found at the crime scenes.

With a serial killer at large and with high-visibility victims, the case becomes a top priority. The investigation slowly uncovers the common link between the victims. The team must steer a careful course as evidence emerges that connects the crimes to high-paid prostitutes. The complication comes from high-ranking government officials and even some police being clients.

I enjoyed the 8.5 hours I spent reading this 408-page mystery. I have had the opportunity to read four other novels by Bryndza. Those are The Girl in the Ice, Fatal Witness, and Fear the Silence. All of his novels have been good reads. I enjoyed this novel, but there is no action, and it is slow paced. The plot is a steady effort of following the clues with no surprises. I like the chosen cover art. I give this novel a rating of 4.3 (rounded to 4) out of 5.

Just absolutely love Robert Bryndza's writing with this being the second Erika Foster book I have read following on from Fatal Witness. The writing leaves me booked and keeps my attention with the clever plots. Although this is the eighth book in the series I feel each book stands alone so you don't need to read the books in order but once you have read one you will want to read the series. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to ARC this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Robert Bryndza and Raven Street Publishing for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I love Foster and her team and I feel like usually I’d have given up a series by this book because I’m not a huge series girl - but I can’t get enough. They are always filled with big twists, gory deaths and a non stop pace. I definitely recommend.

Detective Erika Foster has a reputation for closing murder cases, but not so much for getting along with the top brass. When she is the first officer at the suspicious death of a well known politician but the case is handed to another detective, she suspects a cover-up, which becomes more apparent after another high profile death with the same MO that is more obviously a murder. Erika and her team are assigned to investigate the second death. Not only are there few clues to follow, but Erika's investigation is hampered by top politicians -and unknown others- who don't want certain information to come to light. I have not read all of the Erika Foster books but had no problem reading this one as (pretty much) a standalone. The book is well-written and well-plotted with consistent action and intrigue, and the characters are complex, likable and believable.

It seems a long time since we’ve been in the company of Erika and it felt so good to be back in it.
A brilliant main plot that hooks you from the first paragraph. Erika is feeling she may be being sidelined but when an old case which was taken from her is obviously connected with a new case, and she is being undermined and intimidated again, she must not only fight to get to catch the murderer, but also the internal politics within. She’s come a long way since we first met her in 2016 in The Girl In The Ice and it’s been a privilege to have joined her along the way.
I am really looking forward to seeing what’s next in store for Erika and the outcome of the cliffhanger we were left with here.

In the book Lethal Vengeance, author Robert Bryndza follows Detective Erika Foster who finds politician Neville Lomas naked, hog-tied, and dead in his own bed. Her higher-ups quickly determine the death was from natural causes – case closed. But two months later a famous football (soccer) player is found tied up with the same knots and Polaroid pictures were left with the name Annabelle written on them. Who is this Annabelle person? And when it’s discovered that the same type of Polaroid pictures were left at the Lomas murder with Annabelle written on them, what is happening? Is there a serial killer among them? And what is the connection. When a third famous person is found, everyone is trying to blame everyone for the oversights and cover-ups. This was a good story and I would recommend this book. The audio-book narration was very good. I received a copy of this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A dark and seedy serial killer is on the loose messing with London’s upper echelon Enjoy fellow readers!
