Love this book! As a family of artists, I love the joy and enthusiasm that this books promotes for a career in art. Modern and valuable advice on pursuing a career in art, in addition to art profiles of current artists. This is a must have for educators and those encouraging young people to pursue the arts.

I want to thank Net Galley and DK for a digital copy of You Are An Artist. This book shares the artistic journey of Aurélia Durand while living in France and Denmark. It also provides Exercises and Tips for young artists. The bright bold colors and shapes reminded me of the eighties. I thought the book was a bit heavy on her personal story and would have enjoyed more step by step instruction. I think taking the reader through her process of creating one of her pieces would have been a nice addition. Over all I found the book interesting and enjoyed that she had a section of other artists' stories at the end, showing that every artist's path is different.

I was impressed how informative this was for a children’s book but I really appreciated that aspect. I’d never heard of Aurélia Durand so I’m happy to have discovered her story and her art. She gives realistic tips for young people looking to become an artists and how to monetize your art as a business, even including how to write a contract.

"You Are An Artist" is an accessible and relatable reading experience, making it well-suited for a younger audience. However, the familiarity of the topics and the feeling of a first draft may leave some readers craving a more distinctive and polished narrative. The silver lining emerges in the final chapters, where the author's voice becomes more pronounced, hinting at the potential for a more refined and compelling future work. I have a deep appreciation for the artwork and would be thrilled to witness the talented artist behind it bring forth a children's picture book.
