I loved this book I've been wanting to get into shadow work and learning more about it and this book is the perfect intro to it! I loved how interactive this was and how it prompted the reader to start thinking about their life and how they can focus on Shadow work and implementing it in their life - this is a book that I would buy a physical copy of so I could write in it keep it on my shelf!
Highly informative and transformative, this is a fantastic workbook and journal if you are curious about or even already undergoing shadow work. The text is easy to follow and this one really seems to be for the reader/writer.
A truly complete guide to shadow work with in depth info about the shadow self, how it impacts the present, and activities including journal prompts to promote personal growth.
Thanks to Callisto Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
The Complete Shadow Work Workbook & Journal is one of those workbooks that helps you look deep within yourself. I didn't realize just how many triggers I had due to trauma from my past so this helped me work through some thanks to the exercises in each of the chapters. .
I have been hearing about shadow work books and was interested in giving it a try. It was just like everything I had been hearing about. It really puts yourself in perspective and reveals why you may or may not act a certain way. It's almost uncomfortable to the extent that you didn't know this about yourself through some of the revelations that I encountered. I really enjoyed getting to know myself better.
Definitely a very good way to work through a lot of our issues while taking in account the response we may have, not an easy task any day however I do believe that perseverance is key with this one.
It has so many prompts and advice to do the shadow work we really need everyday and to let us grow every single day, absolutely fantastic.
What is shadow work and how do you start? This book goes deep into what shadow work is, how we develop a shadow, and how to do the healing work. Amazing book, I'm honored to have read it.
Great Book
The author wrote this book is two parts:
1. Part 1 - Is an introduction to readers gain a deeper understanding of what shadow work is and how it can benefit their lives.
2. Part 2 - Is a workbook consisting of six chapters featuring interactive exercises, suggested practices readers can implement in their daily routine, and a few case studies. She states that each chapter includes a separate journaling section with guided writing prompts designed to help readers reflect on their thoughts, feelings, and accomplishments as they progress on their shadow work journey.
She discusses the dangers of suppressing your shadow, the Benefits of acknowledging your shadow, how the process of shadow work leads to personal growth.
This book is great for anyone exploring shadow work. I highly recommend it.
My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I saw this book and new that it would help me out. I journal as part of my mental health and self-care routine. So I have added this to a part of that. The book was broken up into two main section. The first one was introduction to what shadow work ins. The other was putting into practice. It was a good set up for me and help me better understand it and how to put it into a working format for myself. It was something I did not know I needed until I started to read the book and bam. My eyes are now opened to some of the dark things that are holding back from reaching my own goals. There are things I need to let go of and move forward.
Received this workbook as an arc. The language is clear with an easy conversational quality. The explanation of what shadow work is was clear without professional jargon. The opening section provides clear and concise information on the exercises you will encounter in the workbook. The author suggests engaging a therapist should the reader need additional support on challenges encountered while doing shadow work. The workbook provides questions along with examples and case studies to aid in self reflection as you tackle personal shadow work. It also excludes sections that discuss dream analysis, adding a gratitude practice and self care to your life. Enjoyed the addition of these components. These help to view life beyond challenges encountered in the shadow. The book encourages going at your pace and in an order that works best for you when working through the journal and workbook. The questions raised in the book really help to identify the source of limiting beliefs. It encourages us to embrace all of ourselves and provides explanation and examples of how to do that. This is a great book if you are in therapy or not and want to be a better you from the inside out.
This is a great way to introduce people to shadow work! There are detailed explanations in addition to the workbook with journal prompts and thought-provoking questions. I would definitely advise someone to purchase the physical copy rather than a digital copy. If you're familiar/experienced with shadow work, this may not be the right choice for you.
I think it was okay and a good guide for shadow work. It is organize and the instructions were very clear.
The Complete Shadow Work Workbook and Journal by Kelly Bramblett, published by Callisto Publishing, with a planned release date of January sixteenth, 2024, provides mindful activities through which one can learn about and accept the part of their mind where fear, pain, trauma and other negative thoughts and emotions live, and to begin to process and release these types of thoughts that might hold one back.
What I liked most about this book was the exercises in Part II, the workbook. There were pages for journaling and guided writing and other activities to do.
The Complete Shadow Work Workbook and Journal is an excellent tool for those seeking to actively take part in Shadow Work for the first time. Kelly Bramblett has created a workbook that will help guide its owner through the murky first steps of examining and working with the subconscious self. That said as with all tools of this nature I do think it should be combined with the guidance of a professional in the field of psychology for the reader to get its full benefits.
This was good for an introductory level exploration of shadow work. The prompts did not seem like anything I hadn’t seen before.
This book is a nice combination of real shadow work theory and useful exercises and prompts. I feel like this book is a good resource to add to your collection if you are on your way to deeper self-discovery and self-acceptance.
Being a therapist, I'm always looking for new resources to recommend to clients. This workbook & journal provides some fantastic exercises for bolstering self-compassion and establishing a healthier relationship with the self. Through the use of self-exploration exercises including topics like gratitude & vulnerability and building Jungian psychology, this is the perfect addition to a resource list for mental health professionals and the perfect addition to your personal resources for self-exploration.
